2 Product Manual - SD Card Installation About the SD Card Version The SD card can be used in any compatible Garmin GPS unit that has an SD card slot. It can also be swapped between Garmin GPS units. However, the maps are locked to the SD card. So, the maps will not work if transferred or copied to another SD card or to a GPS unit's internal memory. MicroSD / SD Card Installation Upon opening your product packaging, inside you will find a small plastic case which contains a microsd card and SD card adapter (see image below). Note: Please be careful when opening the plastic case as these items are very small and can easily be lost. Below is an image of a microsd card with an SD card adapter. All the Backroad GPS Maps data is on the microsd card. The SD card adapter contains no information. The adapter is only required when inserting the microsd card into your computer's SD card slot or if your Garmin GPS unit takes a full sized SD card rather than a microsd card. Depending on the model of your Garmin GPS unit, you must either: a. Insert only the microsd card into the GPS unit's microsd card slot. If your GPS unit has a small metal door that closes over top of the microsd card, please make sure you slide the door into the locked position. b. Insert the microsd card into the SD card adapter, and then insert the SD card adapter into the GPS unit's SD card slot. 1
