1. Remove any previously installed versions of the Offline Image Viewer by dragging and dropping the Offline Image Viewer icon into the Trash.

1 Installing OIV 2.6 for Macs 1. Remove any previously installed versions of the Offline Image Viewer by dragging and dropping the Offline Image Viewer icon into the Trash. 2. Download the new version of the Offline Image Viewer from the ARTstor web site. In order to access the software, you will need to log on to your ARTstor user account first. Once logged onto your ARTstor account, click on the "Tools" toolbar button and select the option for "Download Offline Viewer." You will be prompted to accept the "Terms and Conditions of Use" before downloading the software. Click on the "Accept" button to proceed. 3. A popup window will appear, which lists all of the currently available versions of the Offline Image Viewer. The recommended version for your workstation will be pre-selected for you. To download the new version of the program for Macs, click the radio button next to "OIV 2.6 for Mac." You may also choose to download an older version of the Offline Image Viewer (2.5, 2.0, or 1.2) or the format for another operating system (Windows or Linux). Once you have made your selection, click on the "Submit" button to begin the download. Another popup window will appear, prompting you to choose between opening and saving the new file. Click on the "Save" button and select a location on your computer to which you would like to save the file (OIV_2.6_Mac_Install.zip). The default location is your desktop. Note: You can also choose to save the Offline Image Viewer installation file (OIV_2.6_Mac_Install.zip) onto a disk, CD, or removable drive. This makes the installation program completely portable, so that you can install the Offline Image Viewer onto any other computer without having to access it through ARTstor online. 4. Double-click on the OIV_2.6_Mac_Install.zip icon and expand the file into OIV2.6.dmg. Note: Depending on your browser and the software tool used for unzipping the OIV_2.6_Mac_Install.zip file, some steps may be automated (e.g. by just doubleclicking on OIV_2.6_Mac_Install.zip, the system will automatically perform steps 4 to 6).

2 5. Double-click on the OIV2.6.dmg icon and it should open a window with an Offline Image Viewer 2.6 program icon inside. The window title is "OIV2.6."

3 6. Drag and drop the Offline Image Viewer 2.6 program icon into your Applications folder. The program icon will look like this:

4 7. Close the installation window (OIV2.6) to complete the Offline Image Viewer installation. You can now remove OIV_2.6_Mac_Install.zip, OIV2.6.dmg, and OIV2.6 (the white box) from your desktop by dragging and dropping the icons into the Trash. 8. Double-click on the program icon to begin using the Offline Image Viewer 2.6 to create presentations of both images and slides. When you first open up the program, you will see a Getting Started guide that asks you what you want to do. You can choose to create a new presentation (whether from ARTstor images or your own local images), or else open up an existing presentation (whether one created in OIV or in PowerPoint). Click the radio button next to the desired option and click the "OK" button. Note: At the bottom of this window, you may check a box so that this Getting Started guide no longer appears at startup. You can also change your preference for this display by going to the "View" toolbar menu, selecting the "Dialogs" option, and checking (or un-checking) "Show getting started wizard on startup."
