V4.20 Support for multi-touch gestures (needs FSW with order no xy): Pinching and spreading with two fingers to adjust the traces in a diagram is now possible. V4.20 Support for dragging in x and y direction to adjust the traces in a diagram is now possible for all FSW order numbers: Traces can be comfortably shifted in a diagram in x- and y-axis by simply dragging to the new position. V4.20 Besides the graphical zoom, the new zoom mode measurement zoom is supported. In contrast to the graphical zoom, which is merely a visual tool, the measurement zoom adapts the measurement settings (e.g. reference level, level range, frequency span) such that the data is measured in the required detail. The measurement zoom is the default zoom mode for spectrum mode, I/Q analyzer and K7. The context menu of the measurement zoom toolbar icon can be opened with a long touch. Level-Lock (default on), X-Lock and Y-Lock can be used to prevent changing specific settings by the zoom operations. Release Notes

4 Version V4.20 New, Windows10-like, user interface design (industrial design theme) for all FSW order numbers New functions of Firmware V3.20 Version V3.20 Support of an independent gate source in addition to the trigger source. This allows double trigger measurement scenarios. In this case the trigger source defines when a measurement is generally possible and the gate source determines which data is actually measured. V3.20 I/Q Analyzer & Options supporting I/Q data input: For the Input Source I/Q File a repetition number is supported which determines how often the data stream is copied in the I/Q data memory V3.20 FSW-B517 Dig IQ 40G streaming out interface is now supported by options FSW-K6, FSW- K7, FSW-K60 and FSW-K70 V3.20 FSW-K30: Support of calibration loss. Temperatures can be considered for input loss, output loss and calibration loss. V2.90 New function Parameter Coupling: This function allows to couple parameters like center frequency or amplitude parameters between different channels. This is very useful in conjunction with the scheduler function, as it eliminates the need to change these parameters in every channel individually. In addition, also User Couplings are possible, for example linking the center frequency of one channel to the marker frequency of another channel. The function is available in the Setup menu. V2.90 New self alignment features: Display of remaining time for self alignment and warning if alignment is started and the warming up message is still shown in the status bar. V2.90 Legacy pro: Supports command INPut:MIXer in FSU emulation mode. V2.90 I/Q Analyzer: Support of Time Domain Power markers (under Marker s) V2.90 FSW-K17: CSV file format is now supported for ACSII trace export. V2.90 FSW-K18: Equalizer results can now be exported in *.fres file format. V2.90 FSW-K18: The TRACe:DATA command now also supports 64 bit format. V2.90 FSW-K18: Support of Moving Average for I/Q averaging. 7 1.2 Modified s The following table lists the modified functions and indicates the version in which the modification was carried out: Modified functions of Firmware V4.20 Version V4.20 Band breaks (e.g. 8 GHz) aligned with beginning of a measurement point. Modified functions of Firmware V3.20 Version V3.20 Hardware setup at 30.8 GHz optimized for satellite applications. V3.20 Max. frequency for center- / stop frequency can be entered via rotary knob. V3.20 FSW-K7: The Marker AF Phase Display result is now displayed with 5 decimal digits in unit rad, 2 digits in unit mrad and 3 digits in unit deg. V3.20 FSW-K18: The trace export dialog has been redesigned and improved. It is now also possible to export all traces of a selected window. V3.20 FSW-K18: The attenuator of the connected SMW is no longer changed by FSW-K18 during Parameter Sweep. This leads to more stable Parameter Sweep results when sweeping over Input Power. V3.10 FSW-K18: Regardless of the Evaluation Range settings, always the complete reference signal duration was evaluated when calculating the Input Power and the Gain. In future the evaluation range settings will be taken into account. V3.20 FSW-K40: Its now possible to edit the Nominal Frequency & Level during a tracked measurement V3.20 FSW-K70: The default directories for file manual loading (e.g. user modulation, user filter) have changed V3.20 FSW-K70: SCPI commands that involve file loading can now be defined relative to the default directory path, too. (Absolute paths still work as before). 8 Modified functions of Firmware V3.10 Version V3.10 Legacy Pro: FSU emulation for electronic attenuation: Stop Frequency now limited to 3.6 GHz if electronic attenuation is switched on. V3.10 FSW-K7: The Modulation Frequency result is now display with 7 decimal digits. V3.10 FSW-K30: The frequency in trace export files now reflects either RF or IF. V3.10 FSW-K30: For ENR table import the ENR table values can now be separated by spaces or commas V3.10 FSW-K70: In K70M the ideal constellation points now takes boosting into account. V3.10 FSW-K106: Extended F_offset for SEM measurement to +/- 200 khz in case of standalone distribution according to table 5.6-3A of 3GPP of document revision 14 V2.90 B160R: Power vs Time Average Peak Detector algorithm modified. V3.10 FSW-K193: An information message is now displayed when preconditions for Synchronous Band Power measurements are not met Modified functions of Firmware V3.00 Version V3.00 FSW-K70: PSK/QAM constellations are now always normalized to an RMS value of 1. This may lead to a different scaling of the results based on the measurement or reference signal, e.g. the I/Q constellation diagram. V3.00 FSW-K70: The bit error rate result is now displayed in scientific format. V3.00 FSW-K70: Symbol Errors that are detected in a bit error rate measurement are no longer highlighted with a red frame anymore, but are displayed in red text within the symbol table. V2.90 FSW-K106: Deployment guard-band now provides a list of all possible offsets to the E- UTRA carrier frequency Modified functions of Firmware V2.90 Version V2.90 The maximum frequency of transducers and limit lines is increased to 2.5 THz. V2.90 FSW-B21: With Auto ID and/or Signal ID trace 1, trace 1&2 or trace 1-3 have specific definitions. All other traces can now be configured without restrictions. V2.90 FSW-K17: The x-axis frequency values of the group delay diagram have been shifted by a value of +Carrier Spacing/2 in order to provide a more accurate display of the calculated group delay. V2.90 FSW-K17: Depending on Group Delay Mode (Absolute / Relative), the Phase Difference display now also includes the linear phase trend caused by absolute group delay (setting Absolute ) or only shows the influence caused by relative group delay (setting Relative ). V2.90 FSW-K18D: The Direct DPD sequence now checks if the synchronization was successful for every iteration. If no synchronization was found for an iteration, the iteration automatically gets repeated up to 10 times until a synchronization is found. V2.90 FSW-K18: Segments configured in the Custom Waveform File dialog are now automatically activated on the connected generator when pressing the Load and Export Selected Waveform to Generator button. V2.90 FSW-K18D: Continuous sweeping is no longer stopped when pressing Abort or Finish while the Direct DPD is running. V2.90 FSW-K70: Increased limit for maximum burst length (upper limit now equal to the limit for the result length) Release Notes

9 1.3 Improvements The following tables list the improvements and indicate since which version the issue could be observed: Improvements of Firmware V4.21 Since V3.20 FSW-K6: With segmented capture mode, the markers would not account for gaps between segments in the displayed stimulus. This issue is resolved. V3.20 FSW-K144: For a DL configuration without SS/PBCH blocks and with a deploy frequency range under 6 GHz, synchronization did not work properly in certain cases. The issue is solved. Improvements of Firmware V3.20 Since V2.60 FSW-B512R: Persistence Diagram Style was not restored correctly when switching from Probability Mask to Free Run. This issue is solved. V3.10 RT-ZM probes: The setup of the probe modes differential mode (DM) and common mode (CM) was mixed up, resulting in the displayed DM level showing the CM level and vice versa. This issue is solved. V3.00 I/Q Analyzer: During I/Q Vector ASCII Trace Export, the I-values were sorted in ascending order. This issue is solved and these values are not sorted anymore. V3.10 FSW-K6: The order of table headers and table column data did not correctly match up in an exported CSV file. This issue is solved. V3.10 FSW-K7: With active AF Phase Marker in some situations, the sweep did not finish. This issue is solved. V1.10 FSW-K10: For GMSK modulated signals with very severe corruption of the TSC the estimator for the Modulation Accuracy table results amplitude droop, IQ Imbalance and IQ Offset might not converge. This issue is solved. V3.10 FSW-K18: The equalizer of FSW-K18 unintentionally also compensated for the Gain of the DUT. This issue is solved. V3.10 FSW-K18: Files created by the Trace Export functionality always contained the instrument settings, even when Include Instrument & Measurement Settings was disabled. This issue is solved. V3.10 FSW-K40: Reference Measurement did not work below 30 Hz, this issue is solved. V1.92 FSW-K60: Unit in Signal States Table changed to Hz/us for Signal Model Chirp V3.00 FSW-K70: Occasionally, mostly after remote operation, the blue marker that highlights the currently analyzed result range was not visible. This issue is solved. V3.00 FSW-K70: Improved measurement speed, if pattern search is active. V3.10 FSW K144: Improvements of SS/PBCH auto detection V3.10 FSW K144: In case 5ms synchronization burst set periodicity was selected, the application did not sync occasionally. The issue is solved. V3.10 FSW-K544: Gaps between files caused an interpolation. This issue is solved. V3.10 FSW-K544: Wraps in phase frequency response may have caused drops in magnitude diagrams for IQ data. This issue is solved. Improvements of Firmware V3.10 Since V2.81 Spurious Measurement: The entries in the sweep list for Stop after sweep were all blank instead of on or off. This issue is solved. V2.50SP2 FSW-K60: Trace statistics in hop or chirp time domain displays are cleared on every sweep. This issue is solved. Release Notes

10 Since V2.50 FSW-K60: Normal marker is synchronized across region and hop/chirp, but hop/chirp spectrum does not update if you drag a marker on the region spectrogram (and vice versa). This issue is solved. V2.40 FSW-K60: The trace statistics modes "all hops" or "all chirps" will also apply min/max statistics to ClearWrite traces in hop or chirp time domain displays. This issue is solved. V1.92 FSW-K60: Improved measurement speed V2.80 FSW-K91AX: Occasionally scalar results show ---. This issue is solved. V2.80 FSW-K91N: In cases when statistics and time tracking is used, the message No PPDU of desired type to analyze! might occur. This issue is solved. V3.00 FSW-K100: A logfile C:\temp\rs_error_log.txt was created which could grow to a huge size. This problem is solved and the logfile will be deleted with this update V3.00 FSW-K100: after loading a predefined standard the editor of the PDSCH allocation table showed a strange behaviour. This problem is solved. V3.00 FSW-K192/K193: Marker results were not displayed in the MER vs Minislot results display if only a single measurement point was displayed. This issue is solved. Improvements of Firmware V3.00 Since V2.00 In some conditions in FFT mode with active signal count an IF OVLD appeared although the signal path was not overloaded. This issue is solved. V2.00 In very rare cases the firmware locked up during creation or deletion of channels or displays.this issue is solved. V2.80 FSW-B21: In Spectrum Emission Mask and Spurious Emission Measurement the Auto ID mode was missing. This issue is solved. V2.90 FSW-B2000/B5000: Switching on the B2000/B5000 turned an active harmonic mixer state to off. This issue is solved. V2.90 FSW-K18: Accidentally it was possible to activate Moving Average during Direct DPD calculation. This issue is solved. V2.90 FSW-K18: A running FSW-K18 application unintentionally stopped continuous sweeping when using the sequencer functionality. This issue is solved. V2.80 FSW-K18: I/Q averaging in combination with Parameter Sweep was not working as expected. This issue is solved. V2.80 FSW-K18: Polynomial DPD did not produce optimum results when using AM/AM first in combination with Generate Predistorted Waveform File. This issue is solved. V2.50 FSW-K70: Remote commands INP:IMP? and INP:IMP:PTYP? did not work. This issue is solved. V2.90 FSW-K95: Autolevel with B2000/B5000 active did not work. This issue is solved. V3.00 FSW-K118/K119: Running multi carrier analysis for a long time could result in an out of memory indication. This issue is solved. V2.90 FSW-K544: After self alignment, the state of user correction was always set to off. Now the state that was active before is restored after the self alignment.. Improvements of Firmware V2.90SP1 Since V2.90 The self test failed on some instruments with Detector Extension Board part # xx, although the hardware itself was ok. This issue is solved. V2.90 FSW-B2000/B5000: Sporadically the firmware locked up when switching on the B2000/B5000 option. This issue is solved. V2.90 FSW-B2000/B5000: I/Q data export was not possible, because of an endless loop in the export algorithm. This issue is solved. V2.50 FSW-K70: Meas only if Pattern Symbols Correct functionality did not work for short patterns. This issue is solved. Release Notes

11 Improvements of Firmware V2.90 Since V2.80 FSW-K18: Occasionally the SCPI connection was lost while running SCPI scripts. This issue is solved. V2.80 FSW-K18D: Activating and deactivating the Direct DPD in quick succession could lead to a state in which the output level of the connected generator and the generator level displayed in FSW-K18 were not matching each other. This issue is solved. V2.80 FSW-K91: An HE SU PPDU was detected as an HE MU PPDU due to CSD (cyclic shift delay). This issue is solved. V2.70 FSW-K91: MIMO measurements using R&S OSP (open switch and control platform) did not work. This issue is solved. V2.70 FSW-K60 with FSW-B2000: Max. Record Length was not handled properly for B2000 using external trigger. This issue is solved. V2.70 FSW-K60 with FSW-B2000: Loading a save set did not restore the selected bandwidth for B2000. This issue is solved. V2.70 FSW-K60 with FSW-B2000: Trace Mode View did not work. This issue is solved. V2.60 FSW-K60: I/Q Export of only the specified analysis region time gate was not possible. This issue is solved. V2.20 FSW-K104: Power vs Time: Measurement did not work if Reference Level Offset was set to values below -20 db. This issue is solved. Release Notes

12 1.4 Known Issues The following table lists the known issues and indicates since which version the issue could be observed: since V4.20 The measurement zoom button in the toolbar is always available although some options are not intended to support this feature and the button should be unavailable. V4.20 Touch gestures with a y-scaling in linear percent or linear with unit do not always work. V4.20 MSRA mode in I/Q Analyzer or K7: Dragging X-axis which are reflecting a time unit has no effect. V1.81 If the additional software R&S DigIConf should be installed directly on the FSW, please use the version V Build220 SP1 or newer (Beta available upon request) older version may have data transfer problems or show white screens. The R&S DigIConf software might prevent windows to shut down occasionally. If this happens, please select "Force shut down" and confirm. V2.80 FSW-B512R: Attenuation occurs further than 240MHz away from the center frequency in replay zoom. V2.40 FSW-B512R: For some resolution bandwidths a single sweep causes artefacts in the spectrum that are caused by the instrument itself. V2.40 FSW-B160R/B512R: Kaiser window not supported. If selected a Blackmann Harris window is applied. V1.90 FSW-B160R: Auto Adjust functions are not available in MSRT mode. V1.80 FSW-B160R: No full support of trigger outputs. "Device Triggered" mode for "Frequency Mask Trigger" is available for trigger output 3 only. V2.20 FSW-B2000: In some situation after recalling a file with active B2000 configuration the connection to the R&S RTO is not established. Workaround: After the recall switching the B2000 state off and on again should solve the problem. V3.20 FSW-K6 with FSW-B512/B1200/B2001: First sweep with gauss filter at 200 MHz may stop. Change the BW and back to 200MHz will resume operation. V2.90 FSW-K6: When using B2000 or B5000 with segmented capture mode, the timestamps and PRI values may not be correctly shown V2.80 FSW-K6: Segmented capture with FSW-B512R can produce incorrect segment lengths. V2.50 FSW-K91/192/K193: In some cases (using FSW-B512) auto level might not produce optimal results. Manual adjustments of the amplitude settings may be required in these cases. V1.90 FSW-K91: When measuring MIMO and recalling a save set containing the same IPaddresses of the connected devices the measurement will stop working. Please delete the shutdown file 'C:\R_S\Instr\results\Shutdown.dfl' and power cycle the FSW on the rear main switch. V1.42 FSW-K91, -K91N, -K91AC: In case the instrument is waiting for a trigger this message is not displayed in the status bar. V2.90 FSW-K95: When loading an I/Q file, an incorrect warning is displayed occasionally. The warning states that the sample rate of the file was different from the sample rate of the application even though the sample rate of the file is equal to the application sample rate. Changing the sample rate hence and forth makes the message disappear. V3.10 FSW-K544: If touchstone or frequency response files are used that don t have any common frequency range, for the combined frequency range in spectrum mode an interpolation will be done in between the files. To avoid interpolating, add low value magnitude and phase samples to the files for frequencies in the gap. V3.10 FSW-K544: Wraps in phase frequency response may cause drops in magnitude in IQ based options. To overcome this, unwrap the phase frequency response before using it in K544. Release Notes

14 1.5 Windows 10 FSW running operation system Windows 10 are using Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB. (IoT stands for Internet of Things and is the embedded version of Windows 10. LTSB stands for Long Term Servicing Branch which means a long support period of Windows patches.) 1.6 Changing of solid state disks between different types of CPU boards For the FSW spectrum analyzer different CPU boards are in use: IPC10 with order no and IPC11 with order no If the solid state disk is exchanged between FSWs with different types of CPU boards the screen resolution is only 800x600 and a "Drive Access Error" will be displayed from the firmware. Please switch off the device and change back to the solid stated drive which fits to the CPU board. The device will boot as usual. 1.7 Missing smartcard message For FSW spectrum analyzer produced July 2017 or later the message Missing smartcard or smartcard not initialized may appear after starting the device. This only happens if a firmware below V2.60 is used. Either because a downgrade to a version below V2.60 had been performed, or the solid state drive was exchanged with a version below V2.60. Solution: Please install firmware V2.60 or higher. 15 Firmware Update 2 Firmware Update The firmware update file for the is one file including the main firmware version number e.g. FSWSetup_V1.60.exe. It will be referred as FSWSetup.exe later in the text. The file can be found on Rohde & Schwarz web page 2.1 Performing the Firmware Update on the Instrument There are three ways to make the setup FSWSetup.exe visible to the device: Using a memory stick: 1. Copy the file to a directory of the memory stick and insert the memory stick into one of the USB sockets of the. Using the remote desktop and copying the installation files to a directory of the instrument: 1. Connect the to your LAN. 2. Start the remote desktop on your PC (C:\winnt\system32\mstsc.exe). 3. Enter the TCP/IP address of the instrument, you want to update. Ensure that the "local resources" > "drives" option is selected and press the "Connect" button. (To get the TCP/IP address of the press the hard key Setup and then the softkey Network + Remote. The IP address consists of 4 numbers between 0 and Login to the instrument (user name: instrument and default password ). 5. Copy the FSWSetup.exe from your PC to a new folder e.g. C:\FWUpdate. 6. You can now access this directory with the FSWSetup.exe from the analyzer firmware. Using a network drive: 1. Connect your to your LAN, and establish a connection to one of your servers. (Please ask the local IT administrator for support) 2. Copy the FSWSetup.exe from your PC to a directory on this server 3. You can now access the directory with the FSWSetup.exe from the analyzer firmware. Performing the update on the instrument: The firmware update process is performed by the following steps: 1. Switch the instrument on and wait until the Analyzer has resumed operation. 2. Press the "SETUP" hard key, then the softkey System Config, and select the tab Firmware Update. A file browser is displayed to select the proper FSW*.exe setup file. Change the path to the drive and directory which you prepared in the step before (USB stick Release Notes

16 Firmware Update directory, remote PC directory or directory on a server) and close the dialog with the Install button. 3. Press the "Next" button to come to the selection of the firmware packages. By default all application should be installed. Ensure that the applications needed are selected. 4. Press the "Install" button. The firmware will be stopped and the installation starts. After a few minutes the system restarts automatically. After the restart the firmware installation is complete. After the firmware update the "UNCAL" flag appears. A self alignment is necessary. 5. Press the "SETUP" hard key, the softkey "Alignment" and then press the button "Start Self Alignment" to invoke the alignment procedure. 2.2 Performing the Firmware Update from a Windows PC If the firmware version 1.10 or newer is installed on the instrument the new firmware can also be uploaded without using a memory stick or a network drive. Just a LAN connection from the instrument and a Windows PC is necessary. 1. Run FSWSetup.exe on your PC. 2. Select Remote Installation and click the button Next. 3. Select the Packages which shall be installed and click the button Next. HINT FOR FIRE WALL USERS: The FSWSetup.exe is communicating with the instruments via LAN. Therefore it is necessary that the FSWSetup.exe may pass the fire wall. After adding it to the fire wall rules, restart the scan by clicking on Rescan. 4. After scanning your LAN subnet all found instruments are listed. Select the instruments you want to update. It is possible to select up to 5 instruments for updating in parallel. Release Notes

17 Firmware Update Please be careful and check twice if you have selected the correct instruments. Depending on your company s network structure also instruments of other departments will show up! 5. Additional help will be displayed after clicking the button Help and further options are available by clicking the button Options. 6. Start the installation by selecting Install 7. Confirm that you want to reboot the instrument in order to activate the firmware update (the instrument then restarts automatically) 2.3 Operation with and without Administrator Rights With firmware version V1.41 or higher, the analyzer may be operated with or without administrator rights. Some administrative tasks (e.g. LXI functions or network configuration) do require administrator rights. Since firmware V1.60 a firmware update is also possible without administrator rights. In the default configuration, auto login is enabled, and the Instrument account with administrator rights is active. This means that no password is required, and the full functionality of the analyzer is available. An additional user account (user name NormalUser with default password ) is pre-defined. Use standard Windows functionality if you wish to deactivate the auto login mechanism and activate the NormalUser account. Please refer also to the Quick Start Manual of the FSW. Release Notes

18 Firmware Update 2.4 Installing Firmware Options Firmware options included in basic instrument The -K7, -K19, -K33, -K54 and - K544 application software packages are included in the basic instrument firmware. Therefore they do not have a separate item in the installer to be selected Other Firmware Options within the FSWSetup.exe File The -K6, -K10, -K15, -K17, -K18, -K30, -K40, -K50, -K60, -K70, R&S FSW-K72/73, -K76/77, -K82/83, -K84/85, - K91, -K95, -K100/101/102/104/105, -K106, - K118/K119, -K144/K145, -K161R, -K192/193 and R&S FSW-K201 application software packages have their own installation item and are therefore added to the selection list during the firmware update. Ensure that the checkbox is checked if the installation is requested. Note: The functionality of FSW-K6S is integrated within FSW-K6 and is activated by its own key code. The functionality of FSW-K18D is integrated within FSW-K18 and is activated by its own key code. The functionality of FSW-K70P is integrated within FSW-K70 and is activated by its own key code. The functionality of the FSW-K91p, FSW-K91n, FSW-K91ac and FSW-K91ax are integrated within FSW-K91 and are activated by their own key code. The functionality of the FSW-K60C and FSW-K60H are integrated within FSW-K60 and are activated by their own key code Enabling Options by Entering Option Key Codes This section can be skipped if the option key was entered once. To activate application software packages, you must enter a license key for validation. If a XML-file with an option key was sent to you see the install description below. The license key is in the device certificate or delivered as a part of the software package. The process is performed in the following steps: 1. Press the "SETUP" hard key. 2. Go to the tab Versions + Options 3. Press the button "Install Option". A dialog box is displayed. 4. Enter the option key number using the keypad. Release Notes
