1 Release Notes PowerFlex 7 AC Drive with Vector Control Option, Firmware Revision. Topic Page Enhancements Corrected Anomalies 3 Determine Firmware Revision Level 4 Firmware Upgrade Procedure 4 These release notes correspond to major revision. of firmware for PowerFlex 7 Drives with the Vector Control option. Refer to publications 2B-RN through 2B-RN7 for a complete description of the changes implemented in previous firmware revisions. Enhancements This section describes the new and updated features provided in this revision. Table - New Features and Enhancements with Revision. Enhancement Motor DC Injection Hand-Off-Auto (HOA) Description The Motor DC Injection feature has been added, allowing DC injection braking to be enabled by using a digital input when the drive is stopped. Programming the digital input through parameters activates the DC injection braking. Previous revisions of firmware only allowed DC injection braking to occur during a stop sequence of the drive. This new feature allows the flexibility to turn on DC injection after the drive has stopped, as long as there are no faults and the drive is enabled. To select this feature, the MtrDC Inject (69) option has been added to [Digital Inx Sel], parameters (see Table 2). The level of DC brake current injected into the motor is defined in [DC Brake Level], parameter 58. Bit 5 ( DC Braking ) of [Drive Status 2], parameter 2 will indicate when the DC injection brake input is high. The Hand-Off-Auto feature adds a delay to the Start input when 3-wire control is used. This helps to prevent a stop/start race condition. A 5 ms delay is added after the stop input is closed and before the start input is checked. To select this feature, a new option, HOA Start (7), has been added to [Digital Inx Sel], parameters (see Table 2).

(7) Firmware revision. and later. Corrected Anomalies This section describes the anomalies corrected in this revision. Table 3 - Corrected Anomalies with Revision. Function MOP Logic Mask Torque Prove User Sets DriveExecutive Output Frequency Description CORRECTED: The MOP reference did not reset to zero when the Run command was removed to stop the drive. Parameter 94, [Save MOP Ref], bit, At Stop is a separate function. Bit, At Stop in parameter 94, is used only when a Stop is asserted. The MOP reference is now reset properly when the Run command is removed. CORRECTED: If bit of [Logic Mask], parameter 276, is zero and [Start At PowerUp], parameter 68 is Enabled; the drive will start. This has been corrected to guard against a start from a digital input command. CORRECTED: There is a delay after the motor is at zero speed before the drive stops. This delay was introduced in revision 9.. This has been corrected. CORRECTED: If a User Set is being used and the drive powers up with an auxiliary fault, the motor data is set to zero. This issue has been corrected. The motor data is no longer set to zero under this condition. CORRECTED: When using DriveExecutive software, the File-Group-Element view on the left side did not show the files for the Application and Pos/Spd Profiles. This issue has been corrected. CORRECTED: The output frequency does not match the reference when [Maximum Freq], parameter 55, is not a whole number. This issue has been corrected. 4 PowerFlex 7 AC Drive with Vector Control Option, Firmware Revision. Determine Firmware Revision Level To determine the firmware revision for a PowerFlex 7 drive, view parameter 29 [Control SW Ver]. Firmware Upgrade Procedure This section describes procedures to upgrade your drive firmware. Downloads are provided on the Allen-Bradley Web Updates site located at support/abdrives/webupdate. For a detailed explanation of the upgrade procedure, refer to phase/firmware/index.html. ATTENTION: Risk of drive damage exists if drive power is removed during the Boot Flash segment of the upgrade/download. To guard against damage, do not remove power to the drive until the download is complete and the drive has been reset. IMPORTANT Once an upgrade has been started, do not remove drive power until the download is complete and the drive has been reset. If power is removed during the Boot Flash segment, the drive may be permanently damaged. A drive that has been damaged in this way cannot be repaired. If power is removed during the Application Flash segment, the drive will remain in the Boot Flash segment and can be upgraded again.. Remove and disconnect any HIMs before proceeding. 2. Install the v. Flash Kit from the Allen-Bradley Web Updates site. This automatically installs the latest version of the ControlFLASH utility on your computer. ControlFLASH, DriveExplorer or DriveExecutive software can now be used to update the drive by using the following instructions. Using the ControlFLASH Utility IMPORTANT This method requires RSLinx software.. Launch the ControlFLASH utility. 2. Follow the screen prompts until the upgrade procedure is completed and the new firmware revision is displayed. 4 Rockwell Automation Publication 2B-RN8A-EN-P - May 22
