What s in This Release The following features and enhancements are part of this release. VideoEdge Appliance Recorder V4.5.0 New Features VideoEdge NVR Software All Appliance Platforms can be updated to the latest VideoEdge V4.5 recorder software. Appliance systems that are at 4.3 must be upgraded in sequence i.e. NVR 4.3 to NVR 4,4 release. Any Appliance 4.4 system can be upgraded to the NVR 4.5 release. Note: In order to avoid serious data loss or corruption, it is imperative that a UPS is deployed on systems utilizing RAID cards without a battery backup. The UPS should provide a minimum of 2 minutes of power to allow a managed shutdown. This VideoEdge NVR V4.5 release has the following new features and enhancements. New OEM Installer A new OEM installer (NVR_OEM_Installer x86_64.raw ) is now available. The installer replaces the existing Live Installer and requires no use of YaST (i.e. less manual steps) to install the NVR. Note: this file needs to be placed on a USB thumb drive using an appropriate third party program. New Simplified Install Wizard Along with the new OEM installer, the actual setup wizard has been streamed to allow the user to configure the system in fewer steps. New Admin Look & Feel The WEB admin has been updated with new color scheme and new icons. Note: WEB Admin only supported with the Linux embedded FireFox or remotely using Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 9 & 10 Auto Camera Discovery A new auto discovery feature is now supported which allows cameras to be discovered on the network faster and with less steps. This feature uses standard network discovery protocols that simplify the setup of cameras on the NVR. All AD cameras and Axis cameras can use this feature. Other camera manufactures may not support these standard discovery protocols. For those cameras, the existing NVR 4.4 discovery functionality (Scan Devices) has been included within the NVR. Security Hardening Address a number OS vulnerabilities to become FISMA ready Enhance user login/logout facility Enhance Auditing and Logging for user account lockout Enhance user control experience for remote Access for XRDP and VNC Remove root user account for SSH login Enhance user experience for Security Configuration 4

Enhance NVR encryption ciphers New Analytics Dwell Person must be mostly stationary within the ROI for the predetermined amount of time and % overlap. Example: Retail customer interacting with a specific product in a display or endcap. ROI is usually smaller and more defined. Linger Person must remain within the ROI for the predetermined amount of time and % overlap, but unlike Dwell, the person can move around within the ROI. Example: Teenagers loitering outside of a gas station or hanging out in a particular area. ROI is usually larger, giving more room to move about. Heat maps A graphical representation where various levels of motion or activity are displayed as different colors overlaying a still video image. Dark Blue indicates no motion. Dark Red indicates high motion. Gradient colors in between to depict generalized motion. Device Replacement Through victor, the capability has been added to replace cameras easily. NVR server now has the capable of changing the IP address on existing camera rather than forcing the camera to be removed and re-added. Push Updates With NVR 4.4, the ability was added through victor/ VE Client to perform push upgrades of NVR software via the victor Client. This functionality has been enhanced in NVR version 4.5 to include individual camera handler push updates going forward. To update individual Camera Handlers the Handler.exe package must be downloaded and placed in a folder named Repository inside the Tyco\Update Server repository directory on the Site Manager s workstation. It may be necessary to create the Repository folder if it does not already exist. The camera handler executables will require to be extracted (double click to execute) prior to making them available for installation. The installation process can be initialized either by running the Tyco Update Utility tool located in the System tray (Image 1) and selecting Tools\ Repository packages (image 2 and 3) or alternatively the user can choose to right click on the NVR Icon in the victor Client Device list and select Check for Updates (image 4). (Image 1) (Image 2) 6

(Image 3) (Image 4) The Tyco update Utility will provide a choice of pick and choose which handler to install while the check for updates option will install all available handlers located in the Repository folder. The update process will stop and restart services as each individual handler is installed. Update process can be monitored through the victor Client Activity Window or from the System\Update Software page of the NVR. The information under Upload packages will change as each package completes, retaining the last package uploaded information. As each Handler is installed successfully the Device handler version number for the device selected to update will change to reflect the update. ONVIF Camera Handler An ONVIF (version 2.2) Profile S compliant camera handler is included in the VideoEdge NVR software so that any ONVIF compliant camera can be added to the system. VideoEdge Client Enhancements The following enhancements have been added to the VideoEdge (local) Client: Right-click in video pane to revert a single pane to LIVE Automatically open of control bar if user selects video for playback Double-click in video pane displays camera in 1x1 Switching between layouts retains previous cameras Ability to retrieve snapshot in live mode Clear all events link VideoEdge NVR Patch Enhancements (From version 4.4 patch 2) The NVR Patch enhancements are included with the NVR 4.5 release New SUSE Kernel update to SUSE Version 11 SP3. Support for the next release of the VideoEdge Appliances (i.e. new CPU motherboards). Analog inputs on the VideoEdge Hybrid Appliances are now included when a template is created. USB clip export finish message now works properly on VideoEdge Client. Dry contact update to allow the duration of the dry contact to be recorded, not just the event. (See Appendix A for details). Enhanced alert capability to generate alerts under certain conditions: Audio Recording Failure If audio is enabled and if the system detects that an audio stream is not being recorded, an Audio Recording Failure alert begun message will be generated and when audio recording is restored, another message stating Audio Recording Failure alert end will be generated. Camera Video Loss The system will continually monitor the health of all video streams. A Video Loss alert begun message will be generated upon loss of any video stream and 7

when the video is restored another message stating Video Loss alert end will be generated. Video Stream Loss The system will continually monitor the health of all video streams. A Video Stream Loss alert begun message will be generated upon loss of any video stream and when the video stream is restored another message stating Video Stream Loss alert end will be generated. Video Recording Failure If the system detects that a video stream is not being recorded, a Video Recording Failure alert begun message will be generated and when video recording is restored, another message stating Video Recording Failure alert end will be generated. Reboot VideoEdge NVR If a VideoEdge NVR unit reboots or overheats this will be detected and will be conveyed to the user in the form of an event. This event will be visible in both VE Client and in victor. There are some limitations: Archiving for Hybrids This feature adds an additional load on system resources. It is recommended that when using archiving for any supported hardware platform (e.g. VEH desktop, 2U, 3U), the support bitrate for storage set (currently at 100 Mbps) for system will be reduced to half. This best practice rule applies regardless of the number of cameras or bitrate for archiving. Also, Archiving feature and Failover feature are not currently supported together. Note: The VideoEdge Client does not support Archiving. If archiving is being used, then the VideoEdge Client should not be used. Failover for Hybrids The Hybrid systems can make use of the failover functionality with the following limitations: Dry contact alarms for analog inputs do not alarm on a secondary recorder's VideoEdge Client when failed over. Analog PTZ cameras do not work on active secondary failover NVR due to serial connections. Serial POS text streaming does not work on active secondary failover NVR Software License Upgrades The VideoEdge Appliance Recorders come standard with a software license that supports all analog video inputs and 4 network IP camera devices. The Hybrid, like the NVR, can be upgraded to support additional network IP camera devices by purchasing the add-on camera licenses. If an analog input is not used this channel can be used to support an additional IP camera channel until the maximum number of channels available for the VideoEdge Appliance model is reached. The max write to disk bandwidth on all platforms is 100Mbps per storage set. To achieve maximum throughput the desktops support a single storage set for a total of 100Mbps, the 2U supports two storage sets for a total of 200Mbps and the 3U supports three storage sets for a total of 300Mbps. 8

VideoEdge Client Performance The VideoEdge Client does have an impact on the available Appliance s system resources. The following guidelines should be observed when operating the VideoEdge Client on the Appliance hardware: Platform Aggregate Mbps w/o VideoEdge Client Aggregate Mbps w/ VideoEdge Client Max Cameras Desktop IP Hybrid Desktop analog 8-IP or 16-IP Hybrid 2U analog, 16-IP or 32 IP Hybrid 3U analog, 32-IP or 64 IP 9

Known Limitations and Issues The table below highlights known limitations or issues against the V4.5 VideoEdge Appliance and the V4.5 VideoEdge Client. Known limitations and issues may exist from previous releases. Please refer to the specific release for the appropriate information as well as the V4.5 VideoEdge release notes. VideoEdge Appliance VideoEdge Appliance Description When a camera resolution is lowered from D1 to QCIF, the clarity of the OSD text decreases correspondingly. For analog cameras, you cannot directly configure a stream to be greater than 12 FPS or 2CIF resolution. When changing the OSD font for analog cameras from ASCII to ASCII small when three or more items are already present, distortion may occur. This can manifest as the repeating of an OSD item multiple times down the screen. Changing the time on the VE Appliance could cause cameras to go offline and no video can be viewed from them. When using a KVM, the Linux standard GUI may not be displayed upon boot up and then show only a command prompt. Some combinations of OSD text and backgrounds colors can cause the OSD text for analog cameras to distort. VideoEdge Client - update of ptz preset setting is delayed in video pane display VE Appliance - Inconsistent dwell times when multiple tours ran on local analog spot monitor Panasonic WC CS385 - G726 doesn't play audio NVR 4.4 Bitrate changes i600 Minidome - when lowering quality of CVBR reports bitrate error on web GUI page Suggested Work-Around For best results, use OSD with a camera resolution of D1, a lower transparency, and an appropriate high contrast color. Set both streams to, 12 fps and 2CIF and click apply. After clicking apply, configure one of the streams to have a resolution greater than 2CIF and an FPS of greater than 12. When changing the OSD font for analog cameras, proceed to remove the OSD item and then re-enter them using the desired character settings. Restart the recorder. Press <Ctrl><Alt><F2> to access the command line prompt #. Proceed to edit the config file /etc/x11/xorg.conf. Under the Monitor section, lower the upper rant VertRefresh parameter to a lower value (if it is 85, then change it to 75 or 60). Save the file and then reboot the recorder. Decrease the transparency for the background to improve the contrast on the OSD text for analog cameras. Workaround is to wait until VideoEdge Client does an update done in ~ 30 seconds. Workaround is to only have a single tour included with a fixed view to either spot monitor(s) or VideoEdge Client. No known workaround. G726 audio codec not supported Ignore the error, move off the page and return and the lower rate bitrate will be set 10

VideoEdge Appliance Description If you mount a Windows 7 share using Samba/CIFS you may run into mount error(12): Cannot allocate memory if you are using very large files on the Windows machine. Suggested Work-Around Refer to Microsoft technical details: Large Files are locking up Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit. The solution is to make two registry edits and then restart a service: 1. Set HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Ses sion Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache to Set HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\La nmanserver\parameters\size to Restart the server service Pressing the menu icon in the PTZ controls for an Optima dome via VideoEdge Client or victor causes loss of PTZ functionality. PTZ communication can sometimes fail when using the SensorNet Module (ADACSNETHAD) to control dome cameras with the VE Appliance. New AD485 protocol handler required for simplex wired domes such as the Optima LT Bosch AutoDome camera Ctrl: Clicking on the auto focus or auto iris causes the camera to Max Zoom Factory Recovery of VE Appliance with the ADACSNETH module connected sometimes stops the machine recovering correctly Analog Camera RS422 protocol does not allow program/calling presets-patterns Auto Iris for SDU1-2 &3-5 Keyboard Control: Camera action continues on camera switch after joystick released Text Stream: on-board USB port numbers changing when plugging in an RS485- USB device Limitation: Archive Storage require single CIF Folder for each NVR archiving Restart the Camera if the menu button pressed and PTZ control lost. Additional functionality has been added to this release to allow the menu button to be removed from the onscreen dome controls. An Enable Camera Menu checkbox has been added to the PTZ page. NOTE: This will only be displayed when the PTZ Port is RS-422 & the protocol for the port has been set to be AD4xx.. Use to this turn off the menu button for all optima domes. The default is enabled. Reboot the Sensornet Module by unplugging and replugging the USB lead. To enhance the dome communications of a simplex (2- Wire) connected dome (e.g. Optima LT Dome), a Simplex Optima LT checkbox has been added to the PTZ page. NOTE: This will only be displayed when the PTZ Port is RS-422 & the protocol for the port has been set to be AD4xx. Camera firmware issue. No known workaround. Remove the module before starting the factory recovery process. Sensornet camera protocol allow program/calling presets-patterns Auto Iris for SDU1-2 &3-5 Workaround is to call the camera again to that monitor Default Linux behavior, connecting a RS485 USB device will call USB port numbers to change. Workaround reconfigure ports after device is added. Recommend best practice using a separate folder for each NVR. This will also allow best performance for archiving and media culling. 11

VideoEdge Appliance Description Cameras that have been archiving, when deleted are no longer accessible through the device list. Auto discovery does not support IP address change if the cameras are on different physical LANs then the NVR NVR unable to resolve when added by Host name. VENVR: Device Replacement: Device replacement does not occur when password has been changed on camera VENVR: Device Replacement: Dry contacts do not stay enabled after device replacement victor is reporting 'Raid Degradation' on a unit which does not have a RAID card If a camera has its audio association still added to the device list it cannot be rediscovered (if the IP has been changed and the camera is now a different IP) Using Pelco D protocol to control an SDU8 dome does not work VENVR Appliance > Restarting the Video Driver service on the NVR created a Video Loss Alert victor 4.5 Recorder push update attempt from V4.4 reported a success but failed to update to 4.5. Push updates only work from V4.4 Patch 2 and NOT V4.4 release. Suggested Work-Around Deleted archive cameras accessible through victor Vault Workaround is to have the cameras on the same physical LAN as the NVR, Workaround is to add the NVR by its IP address in victor. This insures the failover, text streaming and unit notification work properly. Replacing cameras only work if the camera is set to the default password. After replacing a device, check all settings on the device such dry contacts to insure the device is set to work properly. No known workaround. The alarm does indicate a storage issue. Workaround is to delete the camera's video & audio from the device-list & audio-list after changing the camera's IP address. Workaround is to use the Pelco P protocol with SDU8 domes. On occasion when changing camera configuration a video alert maybe generated followed by a video normal alert. This is expected behaviour. Workaround for V4.4 is to use the Software Update page of the NVR Web GUI. 12

VideoEdge Client VideoEdge Client Description VideoEdge Client: Only uncompressed audio work VideoEdge Client: 4.3- Audio: Audio in live view on the VE Client, is not always accurately synchronised with the video. VideoEdge Client > Surveillance screen > Set pattern > There is iris controls in the set pattern controls for the VE Client GUI Interface They perform no function. SDU1 & SDU2 pressing flip button causes camera control to lock up for a few seconds VideoEdge Client: Wrong camera triggers dry contact event if initial camera is deactivated VE-Appliance: PTZ: Removing a Preset or Sequence does not prompt user that a Preset or Sequence is being removed. VE-Appliance: : ADTTE: ADTTE expected functionality is to see the Camera ID # being displayed once called, fails if 2 ports are configured for ADTTE VENVR - Backup Restore of VideoEdge Settings - not all settings are being restored as expected VideoEdge Client - does not retain tour on screen when the layout is changed VideoEdge Client - RTSP Port set to value other than 554 causes video not to stream when client's preference are set to AutoStart and AutoLogin VideoEdge Client - viewer3 cannot see camera previews in camera menu ''Video Stream Loss' is populated in VE Client when Snapshot in Discovery feature is clicked. Suggested Work-Around Only uncompressed sound files can be added No known workaround No known workaround Workaround is to insure that the check box for Enable Camera Menu on the Web Admin PTZ is set correctly for using flip functionality Dry contact slots are reallocate, Care must be taken when allocating dry contacts and creating events. Ensure that dry contacts and events are allocated correctly No known workaround. Ensure that the only port which is enabled with ADTTE is the port that the ADTTE is connected to. Workaround is to restart the VideoEdge Client A tour must be dragged into the layout Workaround is to log out of velocalclient and login again. No known workaround No known workaround 13
