4 1 Product description 1 Product description The Downloadbox is a tool with which you can update the software on your job computer and other components, such as EDS modules. In the instructions, job computers and other components are grouped under the term "Device". In order to update a device, you will need to connect the Downloadbox to a terminal by means of an adapter cable. Different adapter cables can be used. You will also require a USB memory device. 5 Brief instructions 2 2 Procedure Brief instructions Proceed as follows to update the software for a device: 1. Decompress the ZIP file onto a USB memory device. [ 6] 2. 6 3 Before starting Decompressing the ZIP file onto a USB memory device Before starting Decompressing the ZIP file onto a USB memory device Before you can use the Downloadbox software application, you will need to decompress a ZIP file onto a blank USB memory device. You have already received the ZIP file with the software from Müller-Elektronik. This ZIP file contains the Downloadbox software and operating instructions. It may also contain update files. The file listing of your USB memory device must therefore look like this: 3.2 Copying update files Update files are files with which device software is updated. All update files have a *.mec file extension. These contain the files provided by Müller-Elektronik. Older update files with extensions *.dbo, *.mhx, *.cio, *.bin or *.hex cannot be used for updating Downloadbox. You must copy update files to the "Download" folder on the USB memory device before you will be able to perform an update EN

7 Assembly instructions Connecting Downloadbox with a Sub-D connector to a terminal 4 4 Assembly instructions The table below shows which adapter cable you will require when connecting the Downloadbox. The cable will differ depending on the terminal. Connect the Downloadbox to the adapter cable. 2. Connect the adapter cable with the CAN connector of the terminal and the ISOBUS basic vehicle harness. V

Connect the Downloadbox to the adapter cable. 2. Connect the adapter cable with the CPC connector of the terminal and the ISOBUS basic vehicle harness. 3. Insert the USB memory device into the Downloadbox. 4.3 Connecting Downloadbox directly to the ISOBUS in-cab socket If the terminal is directly integrated into the tractor cab, you do not need to access the connectors of the terminal. Connect the Downloadbox to the adapter cable. 2. Connect the adapter cable with the ISOBUS in-cab socket. With adapter cable , one connector is left unused. V

10 5 Software application used by the Downloadbox Starting the Downloadbox software application Software application used by the Downloadbox Starting the Downloadbox software application The Downloadbox will start automatically together with the terminal. The Downloadbox will log in, just like an ISOBUS job computer. Screen structure After starting the software, you will see screens on which the software can be used on the terminal display screen. The example below shows the screen which appears once the software is started: Display of selectable update files Brief instructions and key 5.3 Procedure Updating the software for a device Proceed as follows to update the software for a device: The device is connected to the ISOBUS. Ensure that the update files are on the USB memory device. 1. Start the Downloadbox software application. The following screen will appear: 5. / / - Select the update file Start the update. The following screen will appear: The bar will display the progress of the update. The green LEDs [ 4] on the Downloadbox will light consecutively during the update. 7. Wait until the update has been completed. The update will continue to be performed even if the screen disappears during the update. The update will only be completed once the green LEDs are lit continuously Return to the devices list. The software for the device will be updated. 5.4 Screens The following overview will show you what screens are available in the Downloadbox software application: V

14 6 Updating Downloadbox 6 Procedure Updating Downloadbox The current software version of the Downloadbox is always integrated into the ZIP file. When you start the terminal, you can install the current software version of the Downloadbox directly. Proceed as follows to update the Downloadbox software: You have connected the Downloadbox to a terminal. [ 7] 1. Start the terminal. You will be asked whether you want to update the software version of the Downloadbox. This message will only appear when a new software version is found. 2. Confirm the message. You have updated the software version for the Downloadbox EN

Ensure that the "Download" folder is available. 8.2 Procedure Using Repair mode If it is not possible to establish a connection between Downloadbox and the devices in a sub-group, you can use Repair mode to establish a connection. A device in a sub-group was not found. 1. Disconnect the connector cable between the device and the sub-group. 2. Start Downloadbox. 3. Select the sub-group from the device list. 4. Select "Search for other devices" to activate Repair mode. 5. Connect the device and the sub-group using the connector cable. The device will stop during initialisation.
