2 LAN Connection Guide INTRODUCTION LAN/Broadband connection is fast and secure. Your Mailing System needs to be able to connect to the servers at Neopost in order to access all of the great features of this Mailing System i.e. postage funds, myneopost and tariff & software downloads. This document will help link your new Mailing System to your home or office network so that you can connect to Neopost. 1. CONNECTING MACHINE You will need to connect the machine to the Internet using the supplied LAN cable (1). With the mains power from the Mailing System unplugged, connect one end of the LAN cable into a live network port (2) or a router (3) and the other end (4) into your Mailing System (5). 1.1 CONNECTING MACHINE Connect the mains power. The machine will start up and go to the installation process screen (6). If you do not reach this screen, unplug the mains power, check all connections, then plug the machine back in and try again. If you still can t reach this screen, go to Step Installation process 6 OR 3 Welcome to your mailing system. Press OK to start the installation 4 OK 5 GO TO STEP 2.

3 LAN Connection Guide MAILING SYSTEM SECURITY The Mailing System communicates with the Neopost servers via a secure link. This protocol is the same one used for online banking and is extremely robust and safe. To continue the connection setup for your Mailing System, check that all the items shown in the Installation Guide have been carried out before connecting the mains power. Follow the step by step guide on the following pages to connect the Mailing System. You will also be shown some basic checks if the system is unable to connect on the first attempt. MAILING SYSTEM FIREWALL INTERNET CONNECTION FIREWALL SERVER 1.2 CONNECTING MACHINE 8 Alternatively, as a short term measure, if you have a PC (7) near the Mailing System, you can utilise the PC LAN connection. Simply unplug the LAN cable from the rear of the PC (8). With the power disconnected from the Mailing System, plug the LAN cable into the socket at the rear of the Mailing System as shown (9). 7 If you connect to the Neopost Servers using this route, you will need to contact your IT Department or Provider to find out why connection via Step 1.1 failed. Reconnect the mains power. The system will start up and go to the installation process screen (10). If it does not, please go to step 3. DON T FORGET TO PLUG THE CABLE BACK INTO THE PC! GO TO STEP 2. INSTALLING MACHINE VIA LAN Now install your Mailing System by following the Installation Wizard. If you reach the screen below, the installation process has been completed. Installation process Installation process is finished. Press OK to access the franking homepage OK Congratulations, your have now successfully installed your Mailing System and it is ready to use. If you do not reach the screen below, and have not done so already, go to Step 1.2. Otherwise, go to Step INTERNET SECURITY If you have not been able to connect your Mailing System, you will have to contact your IT Department or Provider to allow your Mailing System through your Internet Security. The Web Address to be allowed is: uk-meterservices.neopost.com The port that needs to open for inbound and outbound traffic is: TCP Port 443 The machine must also be allowed to Ping This may be all that is required. Power off your Mailing System & go back to Step 1.2. If you still cannot connect your Mailing System via the Internet, please pass the enclosed Network Configuration Form included with this document to your IT Department or Provider and ask them to complete it and hand it back to you. Then follow the instructions on the completed Network Configuration Form. Once completed, go back to Step 1.1 on this document.

If referred to this document, hand it to your IT Department/Provider and ask them to follow the instructions and complete the blank fields from number 7 below, plus on the reverse and return it to you. Removing Meter (PSD) and accessing Supervisor Menu to allow you to enter settings provided by your IT Department/Provider. Once you have the completed document, power OFF the Machine and remove the Meter (PSD) as described in your INSTALLATION GUIDE, connect the machine to the Network with the LAN Cable, then power back ON with the Meter removed and then press OK until you see the first screen below Press MENU key Select Option 13. Supervisor & OK Enter Supervisor PIN (00000) & press OK Select Communication Settings & OK Select LAN settings & OK Auto will be highlighted as a default. Select Manual & OK The Web Address to be allowed is: uk-meterservices.neopost.com. The port to open for inbound & outbound traffic is: TCP Port 443. The machine must be allowed to Ping 7 8 9
