MICROCONTROLLERS EXPLAINED A BIT MORE Power Pins connect the MCU to the outside world, providing power, receiving signals and sending out signals to make something happen Peripherals Information from the outside world (e.g. temperature reading from a sensor) Central Processing Unit (CPU) Input Output Program Memory (Flash) Random Access Memory (RAM) Performs an action in the outside world e.g turn up the heating Microcontrollers come in many package types with different numbers of pins and sizes. A complex system would need many inputs and outputs, so many pins. Some systems, like sensors, need to fit into a small space so need a small size.
