12 1.4.4 NMC FERTIKIT DOSING UNITS Comprehensive and Reliable Solutions Netafim s dosing systems meet the most demanding modern irrigation and fertilisation needs. Netafim s dosing channels are based on a precise efficient venturi injector with no moving parts, assuring reliability and system longevity. For control, the systems employ unique quick action valves developed specially for the chemical industry. Two Quality FertiKit Systems Netafim offers three different FertiKit dosing systems, allowing growers the freedom to choose the system best suited to their unique needs. NMC Junior - FertiKit PB NMC Junior - FertiKit Inline A FertiKit Dosing Unit is designed to provide fast and accurate fertiliser dosing, and is suitable for flow rates between 2 to 50 m 3 /h. Each dosing channel is equipped with a visual flow meter and can deliver between 75 to 125 l/h of fertiliser. Three channels are standard. Dosing meters can be added. EC and ph monitoring are optional extras, except for the FertiKit Inline where EC and ph control is standard. Important for FertiKit Dosing Units: System pressure minimum of 20 metres and maximum of 40 metres. Minimum of 2 minutes irrigation run time (pulse) per irrigation valve. The hydraulic design and operation of the system will determine the minimum irrigation pulse duration. Water meter pulses: Maximum 2 pulses per second. Minimum one pulse every 5 seconds if irrigation <15 minutes or minimum one pulse every 15 seconds if irrigation > 15 minutes. NMC controller The standard controller for the FertiKit is the NMC Junior. As an option, the FertiKit may however be fitted with and controlled by the NMC Pro if the hardware constraints of the NMC Junior are too limiting. FIGURE 4. 13 FERTIKIT PB DOSING UNIT PB stands for pressure booster. In the FertiKit PB, the pressure differential required to operate the venturis is created by a pump built-in to the FertiKit. It can be connected directly to the irrigation system s mainline. EC and ph monitoring is possible but not it is not recommended for EC and ph control. FIGURE 5. 14 FERTIKIT INLINE DOSING UNIT Like the FertiKit PB, the pressure differential required to operate the FertiKit Inline s venturis is created by a pump built-in to the FertiKit. It can be connected directly to the irrigation system s mainline. It contains a mixing chamber through which all dosed irrigation water passes. EC and ph control is possible. FIGURE 6. Netafim s unique Hydro-mix technology, together with dosing channels that are based on precise efficient venturi injectors with no moving parts, assures reliability and system longevity. For control, the systems employ unique quick action valves developed specially for the chemical industry. Pressure switch protection and EC/pH measurement and control, pressure reducing and sustaining valves are standard. Simple and reliable process control with two different models allowing growers the freedom to choose the system best suited to their unique needs. NMC Pro NetaJet 3G Inline NMC Pro NetaJet 3G Bypass Three channels are standard with an option to add two more channels. See Table 4 for selecting Netafim Dosing Units. Important for both systems: There is a minimum of 2 minutes irrigation run time (pulse) per irrigation valve. The hydraulic design and operation of the system will determine the minimum irrigation pulse. Water meter pulses: Maximum 2 pulses per second. Minimum one pulse every 5 seconds if irrigation <15 minutes or minimum one pulse every 15 seconds if irrigation > 15 minutes Both models have a standard minimum irrigation system pressure of 3 bar and a maximum of 5 bar. 16 NETAJET 3G INLINE The NetaJet 3G Inline is suitable for flow rates of 5 to 20 m 3 /h. Each dosing channel is equipped with a visual flow meter and can deliver 75 to 300 l/h of fertilizer or acid (with a standard maximum acid concentration of 10% in the stock tanks). The entire irrigation system flow rate passes through mixing chamber after dosing. FIGURE 8. 17 NETAJET 3G BYPASS The NetaJet 3G Bypass is suitable for flow rates of 20 to 120 m 3 /h. Each dosing channel is equipped with a visual flow meter and can deliver 75 to 300 l/h of fertilizer or acid (with a standard maximum acid concentration of 10% in the stock tanks). The flow rate of the bypass and not the entire irrigation system flow rate, passes through mixing chamber after dosing. FIGURE 9. 18 1.4.6 NETAJET HF DOSING UNITS Quality High Flow Dosing Systems Netafim s HF dosing system meets the most demanding modern irrigation and fertilisation needs. Netafim s unique Hydro-mix technology, together with dosing channels that are based on precise efficient venturi injectors with no moving parts, assures reliability and system longevity. For control, the systems employ unique quick action valves developed specially for the chemical industry. Netafim offers this High Flow dosing system, allowing growers the freedom to choose the system best suited to their unique needs. The NMC Pro NetaJet HF Bypass dosing unit is designed to provide accurate fertilizer and acid control with minimum expenses and intervention, and is suitable for flow rates between 60 to 400 m 3 /h. Each dosing channel is equipped with a visual flow meter and can deliver 300 to 1000 l/h of fertilizer or acid (standard maximum 10% concentration in stock tanks). Pressure switch protection and EC/pH measurement and control are standard. Simple and reliable process control with standard pressure reducing valve at inlet of unit and pressure sustaining valve at outlet ensure stable condition for dosing. Three channels are standard with an option to add two more channels. See Table 4 for selecting Netafim Dosing Units. Important for HF systems: The NetaJet HF has a standard minimum irrigation system pressure of 3 bar and a maximum of 5 bar. However it can be supplied has a high pressure model, where this maximum is increased to 8 bar. NMC Pro NetaJet HF HP There is a minimum of 2 minutes irrigation run time (pulse) per irrigation valve. One can use more than one channel per fertiliser solution to increase the dosing capacity, thus increasing maximum system flow rate. 2. The minimum flow rate per channel can be limited by one or a combination of the following: Needle valve, dosing meter, visual flow meter range or venturi injector motive flow. 3. This limitation is due to capacity of the HydroMix chamber. 4. Dosing channels are limited to 10% acid concentration. On request, Netafim can supply a special channel for 10% - 98% acid concentration. (40 l/h) 5. All units have 16 mm hose connections to fertiliser tanks. Use 40mm Class 12 or 50 mm Class 12 upvc from tank to within 0.5 metre of the dosing unit. The tank bases must be 0.6m higher than the dosing unit s base. 6. The FertiKit PB only facilitates EC / ph monitoring. Use the FertiKit Inline for EC / ph control, limited to 10 m³/h system flow rate (10 l/m³ per channel). * Amps for start-up. 7. Allow two PVC double union ball valves to connect the dosing unit to the irrigation mainline (one for the inlet and one for the outlet) in sizes 40mm (FertiKit BP), 50mm (FertiKit Inline and NetaJet Bypass) or 63mm (NetaJet Inline and NetaJet HF) as the case may be. Use 40/12, 50/12 or 63/12 upvc pipe. 8. Inlet and Outlet distance on mainline. For EC ph options 2m for straight pipe and 1m if using a baffle or two elbows in the mainline to assist with mixing. Other dosing methods 1m. 9. Channel calibration [Irrigation Pulse]: EC ph Control = 60% to 80% [< 30 minutes], Flow on Flow = 40% to 80% [> 30 minutes] and Quantity or Time (bulk or spread) dosing = 10% to 80% [> 120 minutes]. 10. Control Cycle [X 4 Unit from Mainline]: EC ph Control = 6 to 12 seconds [ 1m], Flow on Flow = 9 to 18 seconds [ 2m] and Quantity or Time (bulk or spread) dosing = not applicable [ 3m]. 11.
