Product showcase and advertising panels. The machine has a non refrigerated area for exhibiting the products located on the external door which is accessed from the inside of this door. The various types of product sold by the machine can be exhibited in this area. The selection number for each product should also be indicated here, together with the product price, if desired. Various plastic pieces are supplied with the machine to hold the products in the showcase. Disconnect (unplug) the machine from mains when operating in this area or when for any reason you need to carry out repairs inside the machine, except programming. The advertising panel is a photograph located under the product showcase. It is also possible to place optional advertising stickers on the sides of the machine External door. The external door includes the product selection buttons, product exit tray and the product exhibition area (figure 1.01). It also holds the coin slot, the LCD display and the coin return box (figure 1.02). This door has a security lock, with three different locking points on the frame. There is also a spoon tray in the machine as well as a bay for a card reader or banknote reader. Both of these features are optional and may or may not be included with the machine Ventilation slots. There is a slotted area to permit air circulation through the inside area where the compressor and condenser are located. This area is located at the front of the machine. The slots should be kept free of dust and you should check regularly that they are not obstructed with bags, papers, etc. At the back of the cabinet there is a window that provides access to the cooling unit. You should always keep the cooling unit clean to ensure a long service life Product hold. The product is placed on trays, which may have five, four, three or two slides. The machine can hold a maximum of 12 trays. Each tray may have a maximum of 5 slides so the maximum number of slides which you can have in the machine is 60. The product retrieval system is a motor that moves a conveyor belt with blades Cooling unit. It is managed by a program which controls the temperature of the machine product hold electronically. The machine is equipped with a cooling unit and a turbine to keep a constant working temperature in the machine. This temperature, also called cooling unit cut-off temperature, is programmable (add. 18). When the internal temperature rises 2.5 C above the cooling unit cut-off temperature, the cooling unit turns on. When the internal temperature again matches the cooling unit cut-off temperature, the cooling unit turns off. The cooling unit consists of a compressor and a condenser located in the lower part of the cabinet, as well as an evaporator located inside the product hold and an axial flow fan that cools the condenser and the compressor motor. The cooling gas used is Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 5 of 29

the gas indicated on the machine compressor. The turbine is a fan with two runners located inside the product hold which is permanently in operation. The product hold temperature is measured with an electronic thermometer which can be located in different positions within the product hold. It is normally located next to the top tray connector, but if a temperature separation tray has been installed in the machine, the thermometer will be placed just under such tray Elevator. The elevator is what sets this machine apart from others of its type. When a product has been selected, the elevator, which is located opposite the product exit door when idle, moves to the tray where the chosen product is located. It then waits for the product to be pushed out by the retrieval system. An infrared emission based product detector lets the elevator know when the product has fallen into it. The retrieval system then stops and the elevator goes back to its position opposite the product exit door to push the product out. PCB 1 photodiodes: These send a light to the two elevator position phototransistors. One of these is located in front of the product exit opening and the other is located in the lower part of product hold. When the external door opens, the elevator descends until it detects the second phototransistor, positioning itself in the lower part of product hold to avoid interfering with product reloading. PCB 2 photodiodes: These send a light to the phototransistors on the trays to detect their position. Product detector: It based on infrared photodiodes and phototransistors located on two printed circuit cards. When a product falls inside the elevator, the light from the photodiodes is blocked and this is detected by the phototransistors. Whenever a Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 6 of 29

product is detected, the LED located inside the elevator will light up and remain lit until the product is removed Electronic control system. It consist of several printed circuit cards: One is the control card, which governs all of the machine s movements, as well as option and product accounting programming. It also has a power source that supplies a 5 VDC current for logical control, a 12 VDC current for tray motors and a 24 VDC current for elevator motors. The program is recorded in FLASH memory. The relay card has the relays that control the connection to the compressor, electrovalve and showcase light. The connection for these systems that work at 220 VAC is synchronised by setting the voltage to zero. This card is located inside component 7, the transformer bracket (figure 1.03). The display/keypad control card has the control circuit for the LCD display, the buzzer and connections for the display, product selection keypad and recovery pushbutton. It is located in block 14. It is called the keypad assembly (figure 1.03). This is a peripheral unit controlled by the control card with which it communicates using the RS485 bus. The LCD display card which generates messages in various languages. It is possible to adjust the contrast of the messages on the display by turning a potentiometer located in the display/keypad control card. The photodiode and phototransistor cards mentioned previously. The electronic thermometer card. If there is any problem with the general power supply, a battery supplies the system which reads the temperature inside the hold to control product expiry by temperature. The product is considered expired when it has remained for 3 hours or more at a temperature inside the product hold equal to or higher than 10 C Coin mechanism and other peripherals The machine can work with two different coin changers. The machine program will change depending on the coin changer used. The two types of coin changer are: J2000 MDB compact coin changer with recovery motor (see J2000 MDB manual). Communications between machine and compact take place under an MDB protocol. The machine behaves as master unit while the compact acts as slave unit. J2000 EXECUTIVE compact coin changer with recovery motor (see J2000 EXECUTIVE manual). Communications between machine and compact take place under an A. protocol. The machine behaves as slave unit while the compact acts as master unit. The following peripherals can also be connected to the machine: JOFEMAR J100 or J110 Card Reader. This can be used for card purchases, card reloading with money, programming the machine and retrieving accounting data Communications with the card reader take place through an RS232 port. If you are working with the J2000 MDB coin changer, the card reader will be Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 7 of 29

connected to one of the two RS232 ports in the machine control card. If you use the J2000 EXECUTIVE coin changer, the card reader must be connected to the coin changer (see J2000 EXECUTIVE manual). MDB Card Reader which can only be used for card purchases. Available if the program version is the one used for the MDB compact. Banknote reader using MDB communications protocol. 9 2. - Electrical specifications. MACHINE ELECTRICAL DRAWING RL1 and RL2 are part of the cooling unit, while RL3 and RL4 are both located on the relay card (inside the transformer assembly). The cooling assembly, fluorescent lamps, turbine and transformer operate at mains voltage, so none of these should be worked upon without unplugging the machine from mains.. Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 9 of 29

Values F1 and F2 depend on the mains voltage used by the machine. The following table shows these values. Mains voltage F1 F VAC 5 A. T 10 A VAC 5 A. T 15 A. T Note: T means the fuse is timed or slow blow fuse. Following is a table with maximum electricity consumption values depending on mains voltage. Mains voltage Ambient T Amps Watts Kwh per day VAC 25 C , VAC 25 C , Initial electrical installation. For machines working at VAC: Prepare a VAC, 50 Hz and 10A, socket, protected with an automatic connection system. The socket should match the machine plug. Follow all Low Voltage Installation Regulations and check that ground connection works properly once the machine has been installed. For machines working at VAC: Prepare a VAC, 50 Hz/60 Hz and 20A, socket, protected with an automatic connection system. The socket should match the machine plug. 11 3. - Installation and start-up Installation. The machine should not be moved in horizontal position. Do not install the machine near active heat sources (heaters, radiators, etc.). Avoid obstructing the grids located at the front of the cabinet to ensure air circulation inside, where the cooling unit motor is located. Leave a distance of 20 centimetres between the back of machine and the wall or other items. It is important for the machine to be level, as it should operate in a vertical position. This will also prevent noise and vibration and will extend the cooling unit service life. The machine should never be pressure washed with water Start-up. As a safety measure to avoid damaging the cooling circuit, wait to connect the machine to mains for 2 hours after finishing unpacking and installing the machine. The machine is factory set to work properly at an ambient temperature between -5 C and 32 C and 60% humidity. VERY IMPORTANT: To ensure the machine works properly it is essential that the first reloading should be carried out through J-2000 compact address 25 (See compact manual) Machine reloading. This is done by opening the insulating door which provides access to the product hold and placing the products in their slides until all trays have been filled. It is important to follow all the indications on this issue described in the document MMP product loading indications to ensure the machine will work properly. There is a label on each tray that shows the number of slides in that tray. Also, each tray connector has a label showing the numbers of the slides in the tray for that connector Product selection. To select the desired product enter the number associated to that product shown in the product showcase. As mentioned before, this machine can hold 12 trays each holding a maximum of 5 slides. In address 09 you can enter all the product selection numbers and the slides associated to these selection numbers. Detection of slides in place occurs when the machine is turned on, so if you change any connector tray you need to turn the machine off and on again. If the slide is not present in the machine, we cannot select it to do any kind of vending or programming operation with it. If coins have not been inserted and you select a product, the price will appear on the display. If the price is set to zero, the program will not do any operation with this product. When you select this product, the display will automatically show the time again and not show the price. If you have inserted money, when you select a product, the price blinks on the display while the sale takes place, but if the price is set to zero, no sale will take place and the credit for the money inserted will be shown. 14 4. - Machine operation. If the machine is out of service, the cause will be shown on the display. In such cases, the machine does not accept any coin nor is any sale allowed. The machine may be out of service due to temperature expiry, because no connected motor has been detected (this may be because no tray has been connected to the machine or because a fuse has blown in the secondary power supply for slide motors) or because of a breakdown in the elevator. The machine will try to reset failures in the elevator. It will try to reset the failure 5 times at 20-second intervals. When the machine is operational, the display shows the time and the temperature if it is programmed for single sales or multiple sales (address 15 ). In single sale mode, only coins or banknotes having a value that can be returned and that does not exceed maximum credit will be accepted and the maximum credit you can insert cannot exceed maximum recovery (address 16 ). Additionally, maximum recovery is updated automatically with the highest price in case such price exceeds the value of maximum recovery. In multiple sale mode, it does not take into account whether it can provide change or not when accepting coins or banknotes. In both sales modes the acceptable credit is limited to the highest price programmed in the machine. Therefore, to ensure proper machine operation you should check that maximum recovery and prices are properly programmed (address 16 and address 00 respectively). In single sale mode you need to insert money until you reach or surpass the price of the desired product. When you enter the product selection from the keyboard, the display shows the price of the product. If this price is less than or equal to the money inserted, if the machine is not out of that product and if there is enough change, the sale is allowed. The elevator moves to the tray with the slide associated to that product. It then attempts to take the product out of the slide. The elevator has a product detector based on photodiodes and phototransistors. This way, when the infrared beam is blocked, the elevator knows the product has fallen into it. The slide motor then stops and the elevator moves to the product exit opening and the conveyor belt delivers the product to the outside. Also, if this product has been programmed to require a spoon, the latch of the spoon tray door will open, allowing access to this tray. If there is no product in the slide, when product removal is timed out (approx. 8 seconds) the slide is marked as out of product and a second product is sought from another slide associated to that product. Out of product marks are automatically erased when the inside door of the machine is opened for product reloading. A FIFO (First in first out) system is used to determine the order in which products are taken out of slides, so that slides are emptied uniformly. There is an exception to this in which slides are emptied differently. This is when there are slides (not products) with a custom expiry date (add. 19). Instead of using a FIFO system, all the products from the slide having an expiry date closest to the machine s date will be extracted first. When the slide with the customised expiry date is empty, this date is automatically erased and the other slides not having a customised expiry date will be emptied according to the FIFO system Sales without money. Free sales are programmed in address 15. When this type of sale has been programmed, the machine does not admit either money or cards and sales are not accounted. When the external door is closed, the display will show that this type of sale has been selected. Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 14 of 29

4.2 - Sales with tokens. Tokens can be used provided they are programmed in the validator. If the compact is a J2000 MDB: The value of tokens can be programmed in address 24 of the machine. There are two ways of working with tokens: 1 - If the value of the token has been set to zero, when it has been accepted by the machine the display will show 0000 and a purchase can be made regardless of the product price. 2 - If the value of the token has been set to a figure other than zero, when the token is accepted the display will show the value of the token. Products can then be purchased until the credit has been used up or until it has been cancelled by pressing the recovery key. Cancelling credit with the recovery key is allowed after the first sale. In both cases, once the token has been inserted all other coins (including tokens) are inhibited by the machine. Should no purchase be made, the token s credit will be cancelled after 2 minutes. If the compact is a J2000 Executive: There is only one way to make purchases with tokens and to do this it is necessary to assign a value to the tokens in address 44 of the compact (see J2000 Executive manual). Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 15 of 29

6. - Troubleshooting. The following table will help you diagnose the most common machine and compact failures. It describes a series of anomalies, their possible causes and the steps to take in solving them or at least in determining as far as possible the cause of such failures before contacting our customer service. Problem Possible causes Steps to follow Coins are not accepted and the J-2000 display is off. You cannot access compact programming mode. The J-2000 has no power supply or the wrong power supply. Check that the supply voltage is within the range admitted by the device. Check continuity of cables between the machine and the J You can enter programming mode in the compact but there is no communication. The compact communicates properly and you can enter programming mode but all coins are rejected and the display shows a 2. The J-2000 sends all coins to the vault. Coins get stuck at the entrance of the tubes. Cables are incorrectly connected. The T10 validator does not accept the coins. The machine coin acceptance slide is touching the T10 antistring device. Change is incorrectly programmed. The change tubes are broken down. Maximum values programmed for coins in the tube have been exceeded. Change is incorrectly programmed. Separators are sticking. Wrong tube model for this change combination. Connect them properly. Go to compact address 51 and check coin acceptance. Lift validator switch no. 8 and check whether the coin is accepted. Check the values of compact address 22. Check compact address 51 to see whether coins are to go to the appropriate tube. Check compact address 27. reset the fault and empty the tubes. Check compact addresses 21 and 29 to verify that maximum values have not been reached. Check the values of compact address 22. Send the J-2000 to customer service. Replace the tubes. Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 26 of 29

The J-2000 rejects a high percentage of coins. In sales monitoring mode, the display shows a 2 each time a coin is inserted. The J-2000 does not accept any coin. When you insert a coin no digit appears. Coins not accepted and a 1 appears on the display. Programmed data has been lost. In address 25 coins are not accepted for tubes 1 and 5. Coins with a given value are not accepted. All coins are rejected. No sale is possible and the display shows a message saying the machine is out of service. Measuring slide is dirty. The selector door is not completely closed. The connection cable between the selector and the control card is broken or disconnected. The machine does not respond to communications properly. Electric noise. First reloading was not carried out properly. Inhibitions wrongly programmed or return failure. Machine out of service because of elevator break down, expired product because of temperature or because no motor is connected. Clean the selector with a cloth moistened with alcohol. If the problem continues, send the selector to customer service for adjustment. Check recovery motor operation. Get rid of any other obstruction. Connect the cable. Check the cables connecting the machine to the compact. Make sure the machine is properly grounded. Consult first reloading procedure in compact manual. Check general inhibitions in machine address 10. Make sure change tubes have coins (machine address 02 ) and are working properly (compact address 27 ). Check the failure in machine address "06". In case of elevator failure, try resetting it in address "07". In case of product expiration because of temperature, remove the product from the machine and reset the failure in machine address 7. Should no connected motor be detected, check the centre fuse of the three fuses located on the transformer bracket. Code: MNP38V03GBV00 Date: June 2001 Page 27 of 29
