3 Page 2 Introduction The goal of this document is to help IP-One users migrating to BVoIP adapt to the new environment, specifically related to IP-One portal functionality and particularly through the migration period. As such the convention used throughout will be to identify a capability available through the IP-One portal and then provide details with respect to the BVoIP capability. In some cases, several options will exist; in others, in others, equivalent functionality may not be available or will be made available in the future. Available interfaces BVoIP functionality will be available through a variety of interfaces. Each capability listed below will include a table outlining which interface(s) will provide the functionality. Telephone user interface () Some functionality can be accessed on any BVoIP-connected device telephony client an IP Phone, an analog phone connected to an ATA or the by dialing access numbers or star codes. Star codes can be used to program features or enable options in the core BVoIP infrastructure. These capabilities are available as soon as you migrate to BVoIP. Personal Communicator Client () and Mobile Client The is an application that runs on Windows computers that provides all the capabilities of an actual phone, plus some additional functionality like presence and instant messaging. is available as soon as you migrate to BVoIP. The Mobile Client is an app for iphone and Android devices which will provide similar functionality to the for the purposes of this document. Differences will be noted where they exist. The Mobile Client will not be available until general BVoIP market availability. Interim End User Portal (EUP) TELUS resources are working to make an interim end user portal available to customers during the migration timeframe. It will not provide all the functionality of the end user portal experience targeted for our commercial launch timeframe later this year, but will cover the most important capabilities. This interim portal experience is currently being finalized and thoroughly tested. The outcome of these tests will affect how soon we can offer it to our customers. Launch End User Portal (EUP) This is the portal that will be available coincident with the general market availability of the TELUS BVoIP service, scheduled for later this year. This portal will also be where all new end user functionality will be introduced as we continue to upgrade and develop capabilities on the service after launch Notes: The Customer Admin Portal, also available coincident with BVoIP general market availability, is beyond the scope of this document. In some instances, additional standard interfaces will be mentioned.
4 Page 3 Portal capabilities Directory management Create a personalized list of contacts in a personal directory Integrate with Outlook by importing personal Outlook directory Partial Users can configure a list of 10 speed dials using star codes that will be accessible via any of their BVoIP devices (Phone/ATA/) Supported has personal directory and directory import support. Note that the import file format is different than Outlook s export format so some processing in a tool like Microsoft Excel is required prior to import. A more efficient solution is to install the Outlook plugin during installation of the. This will allow users to call any of their Outlook contacts using the from within Outlook by way of a fully integrated toolbar. Interim EUP Not supported No personal directory support is planned. Launch EUP Supported Personal directory with import will be available at or shortly after launch and will synchronize to the & Mobile Client Click to call Initiate a call by entering a to and from telephone number using your primary business telephone number and toll plan, or populate the to phone number by clicking on a call log or voic entry Initiate a multi-party call using the same portal mechanism Not Applicable Supported, but different is fully capable of initiating calls and conference calls to entered phone numbers, directory entries or call log entries. Instead of ringing to a from telephone number before ringing the called party, the call is completed directly from the. A USB headset is recommended Interim EUP Partial Click to call capability is supported as it is in IP-One, but only between two parties. Conference calling is not supported. 5 Page 4 Call logs and voic All call logs (inbound, outbound, missed) are displayed to the user on the portal Voic is displayed on the portal with caller and timestamp information, and the user can play voic s on their PC or to their phone. BVoIP voic supports an integration based on with attachments to the user s address rather than IMAP integration. This allows for all messages ( and voic ) to appear in the same folder, resulting in a more consistent and fluid user experience.
6 Page 5 Remote extension Users can enter a telephone number to be their remote office. All inbound calls ring on this number allowing the user to work remotely. A recording is played to the user and they must press a key to accept the call. Users can choose to receive the Caller ID of the calling party or their IP-One telephone number or IP-Phone Not Applicable Alternative Instead of leveraging remote extension, BVoIP users can use the or an internet-facing IP-Phone to work remotely over high speed internet access (calls are placed via their internet connection) Interim EUP Not Supported This capability is not planned in the interim period. Simultaneous Ringing rules could be used to approximate the experience. No recorded message will prompt the user for action Launch EUP Supported, but different The Mobile Extension feature is very similar to remote extension, except that, as above, no recorded message prompts the user for action. Calls completed via Mobile Extension can be grabbed back to the IP-Phone or client with the Call Grabber feature. Call Rules Users can create call routing rules such as find me/follow me, simultaneous ring, selective call forwarding and call screening by calling number, time of day, etc. Rules can be organized into Location groups: Office, Home Office, On the Road and On Vacation Partial Call forwarding can be set via star codes, including forward all calls (universal), call forward on busy and call forward on no answer. or IP-Phone Partial Users can engage a Do Not Disturb capability which will cause their calls to be redirected. Interim EUP Partial Simultaneous and Sequential Ringing are supported. Location rules and selective screening will not be available. Launch EUP Partial / Roadmap Simultaneous and Sequential Ringing are supported. Location rules and selective screening will not be available. Selective screening (time of day, calling party, exceptions, etc.) are roadmap items.
