23 Programming Screens

24 Code type options are: 1 Track. 2 Track First of group. 2 Track End of group.

25 Number of marks defines how many marks are printed in the code. Maximum number of marks is Twenty.

26 Gate orientation: Is the Gate Mark (reference mark)at the top or bottom of the marks. Used to be NTL reverse read if the gate mark was at the bottom. For 2 Track the options are Left or Right if the channels are swapped.

27 The choice for the pitch (the distance between the same point between two marks) is selectable. The choices are: 3mm, 3.8mm, 4mm, 5mm, 5.3mm, 10mm. 1/10 inch, 1/8 inch, 1/6 inch, 1/5 inch, 1/4 inch, 1/3 inch.

28 Parity choices are: Odd, Even, or None.

29 Form sequence start count choices are: 0 or 1, dependant upon the customers OMR scheme. If the form sequence runs in reverse, counting downwards then this box needs to be checked. REMEMBER THE SEQUENCE RUNS FROM THE FIRST PAGE IN THE PRINT STACK.

30 The Invisible gate mark allows us to use 1 mark only. The Gate mark does not need to be printed, the machine uses an end of group mark only. The Number of marks, Pitch, Parity and Form Seq. start count are greyed out and are now fixed.

31 Divert 1 and Divert 2 are used when 2 track is selected. The options for both are, Ignore, Stop and Continue. Divert 1 uses a mark on channel A and Divert 2 uses a mark on Channel B.

32 When all of the above information is entered Done needs to be selected to open the next programming screens.

33 The screen that is used to tell the machine the mark positions is opened. Mark 1 is always the gate mark so it is greyed out. The rest of the marks need to be entered in the correct sequence.

34 Remember the marks must be programmed in the correct order. Blank means there is no mark in that space. Ignore means there is a mark but it is not used,to keep Parity correct. The parity and end of group marks are the wrong way round in this example. The result is shown on the next slide.

35 If you see this on the display, check the mark programming. Not available for Flex.

If you see this on the display, then all is correct and you can name the Definition. Use the Up/Down keys to change each character, press button to move to the next character, press button X when finished, and save the name. Your definition is now created. 36

Programming Flex OMR Marks Marks programmed in Engineer mode. Programmed definitions attached to document. Can be used in more than one job. Marks after the gate mark do not have to be in any set order. Distance to the Gate mark is measured from the top of the page. DEFINITIONS ARE PROGRAMMED AS PRINTED, NOT AS FED AS PREVIOUSLY ON PFE MACHINES. The rest is the same as programming Advance licence marks. 37

Job Programming Programming a job is done in the same way as before. 38

41

42 Here is where the differences start. We have to select which OMR definition to use in the job.

43 After the definition is chosen we are shown a summary screen of the code. The items are greyed out so we can not make any adjustments to the settings from here.

44 Continuing scrolling down from the previous screen; the actual Mark positions are shown.

45 The Read Head ID allows us to choose which head we are reading from. The choices are Head ID 1, Head ID 2, 2 Track Standard, 2 Track Reverse. 2 Track Reverse is used if the marks positions are swapped. Channel A with Channel B.

46 The Gate position is the distance to the Gate mark from the TOP of the page when looked at as it would be read.

47 The Pitch Adjust is used to fine tune printing registration errors. There is a total of 1mm adjustment. +/-0.5mm either way.

48 The Gate and Tail margins allow us to extend the reading window. These used to be known as Leading Margin and Trailing Margin.

49 The mark threshold allows us to adjust the level of signal that the machine uses for a read. Each individual head can be adjusted to allow for 2 track reading.

50 If 2 Track OMR is being used the Basic marks for Insert/Accumulate are automatically entered in the mark settings.

Advanced DS100 BCR Licences (Advanced/Flex) BCR Reading Licenses for the DS100 Single BCR definition Only the Neopost III encoding is available Service engineer programmed User selected Can be upgraded to Flex Flex Up to 9 BCR definitions Neopost III and legacy PFE encoding Service engineer programmed User selected Can be upgraded (i.e buy more Flex licenses) 1-D BCR Symbologies The default symbology is Code 3 of 9 Neopost III can also be encoded in Code 128 and limited Interleave 2 of 5 (page n of m, Customer ID and sequence count) Other symbologies can be supported for custom schemes (SPRs) 51

DS-100 BCR Advance Licence Only 1-D reading supported. Neopost III encoding only supported. Standard symbology is code 3 of 9. Neopost III encoded labels that do not use bit fields can be printed in interleaved 2 of 5 and Code 128 symbology (customer ID and N of M). Only a single Neopost III definition is available. Upgradeable to one or more flex licences. 52

DS-100 BCR Flex Licence Only 1-D reading supported. Neopost III and standard NTL encoding supported. Standard symbology is code 3 of 9. Neopost III encoded labels that do not use bit fields can be printed in interleaved 2 of 5 and Code 128 symbology (customer ID and N of M). Up to 9 BCR definitions available. Upgradeable, can add more flex licences. 53

Programming Advance Barcode Marks (Neopost III only) Marks programmed in Engineer mode. Programmed definitions attached to document. Can be used in more than one job. Only Neopost III definition available. DEFINITIONS ARE PROGRAMMED AS PRINTED, NOT AS FED AS PREVIOUSLY ON PFE MACHINES. 54

55 The definitions are programmed in Engineer.

56 The machine control tab is greyed out and set to Neopost 3 scheme. The symbology choices are 3 of 9,128 and 2 of 5. The characters in label are greyed out. This will be updated as the characters are entered in the later screens. The grouping options are End or First of group. REMEMBER THIS IS IN PRINT, NOT FEED ORDER.

The form sequence start count has a choice of 1 or 0. The form sequence start count direction is Incrementing or decrementing. The group sequence has the same choices. REMEMBER THIS IS IN PRINT, NOT FEED ORDER. 57

58 The customer ID start position and Customer ID length are also greyed out because they are programmed in the next screen.

59 N of M is a page count and comparison with a known total. Page 1 of 2, page 2 of 2. The options are: Disable, Ignore, Enable, Swap. Swap turns the code from N of M to M of N. I.e. this is a 2 page set and this is page 1. Number of characters in the N part of the code. Max 2

60 Sheet sequence is a numeric count through all the pages in the print run. The options are Disable, Ignore, or Enable. The sheet sequence number of characters can be set between 1 and 3 allowing up to 3 characters in the sequence. The Group sequence characters work in the same way.

61 The Insert character is used to tell the machine to stop accumulating and insert the document. The options available are Disable, Ignore and Enable. The Accumulate character is used to tell the machine to continue accumulating. The options available are Disable, Ignore and Enable.

62 The divert settings control how documents are diverted. The choices for both are Disable, Ignore, Stop and Continue. If Stop is chosen the pack is diverted and the machine stopped. If Continue is chosen the pack is diverted but the machine continues running.

63 The selective feed is used to select Items to add to the prime documents. The choices are Disable, Enable, and Ignore.

64 The No Seal is used to determine whether the envelope is sealed. The choices are Enable, Disable or Ignore. The Envelope Select settings are not used on the DS-100/140. Because of this the choices we have are Disable or Ignore.

65 The Exit select is used to pulse an output conveyor if one is fitted. The choices we have are Disable and Ignore.

66 The Stop character is used to Halt the machine. The choices are Disable, Enable or Ignore. The Customer ID switches on grouping by ID printed in the barcode label. The choices are Disable, Enable or Ignore. The Customer ID number of Characters allows the number of characters in the ID to be entered. The range is 1-16

How does Neopost III work. Any command with Enable, Disable,Ignore is treated as 1 character bit. The Code uses Hexadecimal notation.1-9 A-F. One character can control 4 programmed functions. If TWO or more commands clash a read error is given. For example if the Hex code asked for an Insert and Accumulate the machine can not do this so it will force an error situation. 67

Position Char Value 0 Function 1 No Function 2 No Function 3 No Function 4 No 1 Yes No No No 2 No Yes No No 3 Yes Yes No No 4 No No Yes No 5 Yes No Yes No 6 No Yes Yes No 7 Yes Yes Yes No 8 No No No Yes 9 Yes No No Yes A No Yes No Yes B Yes Yes No Yes C No No Yes Yes D Yes No Yes Yes E No Yes Yes Yes F Yes Yes Yes Yes Each character in the barcode can control up to 4 functions dependent upon which functions are selected in the barcode setup screen. If a function is disabled in the setup screen then it will be ignored by the machine. 68

If the Barcode label had the character 1 then this would trigger function 1 which is the Insert code. If the Barcode label had the character 2 then function 2 would be triggered which is Accumulate. 69

71 If N of M is selected then the machine uses a page count and comparison. If N is less than M then the machine accumulates. If N is equal to M then the machine inserts. If N is Greater than M then an error has occurred somewhere.the document is diverted or the machine stops. If N and M are reversed then we can select Swap.

72 If a customer ID, such as an account number, is used in the barcode we can tell the machine where it starts and how many characters long it is. If the account number on the previous page read is the same as the document being read at present then the pages are accumulated. If the numbers are different then the document is inserted.
