1 SECU PID PROGRAMMER Version xx The program Secu PID Programmer works together with the Secu USB/232 Adapter and is used for programming the Secu MultiPIDs. The program is free for copy, the intellectual property rights are at Security & Electronic Technologies GmbH. Security & Electronic Technologies GmbH takes no responsibility over other programs on PCs which are taking any influence. If your PC is connected to Internet you are automatically informed if there is a new software update available. 2 Security Instructions The SECU USB/232 Adapter is suitable for use in EX-Zone 1 on the RS232-interface side. Please take care that your PC and the adapter is outside the EX-Zone and only the RS232-cable leads into the EX-Zone! Installation Device Driver Start the program: CP210x_VCP_Win2K_XP_S2K3.exe Follow the instructions up to the following directive: Place the check mark at Launch the CP210x VCP Driver Installer and press Finish. 3 Press Install and wait until the driver is completely installed. Now plug the SECU USB/232 Adapter on to your USB-interface on your PC. If you have installed the driver correct, Windows is indentifying the device and defines a COM-board for it. If you don t know, on what COM-board the Adapter was placed, you can discover it as follows: Click on to Computer icon with the right mouse-key and choose Properties Choose Device-Manager Secu PID Programmer 3 / 23

5 Installation - Program Required system: Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 Main Memory: min. 1GB Free Hard Disk Memory: min. 1GB Active Internet Connection Start the installation from the Webseite: If there are additional components to install like for example.net 3.5, they will be automatically downloaded and installed from the Internet. Follow the further instructions, after successful installation the application will be started automatically. 6 Secu PID Programmer Please plug first the SECU USB/232 Adapter into your USB-interface. As far as you have installed the driver right, Windows recognizes your device and defines a COM-board for it. Call now the program: Secu PID-programmer.exe Type of connection Version-Number COM-board Choose first the language. (The language can be changed every time also during the application). In the area of the COM-interfaces all available and not used COM-ports on the PC will be show. Choose the interface, on which the SECU USB/232 is connected. Secu PID Programmer 6 / 23

7 Create standard parameters Create a setting of standard parameters to use it for future automatically. Press the button set default bits to change the main display: Now you can define the default parameters of following groups: Product Diesel (66-69): for Diesel product-pids code area 66 to 79 Product Petrol ( excl.86): for petrol products in the area 80 to 100 (except 86, others ) Product others: all products outside the previous defined areas Common vapour all products: for common vapour connection, all products Common vapour Diesel: for common vapour connection Diesel products Common vapour Petrol: for common vapour connection Petrol products Define the default parameters for all groups. To change a parameter, press the corresponding button and a parameter window opens. Secu PID Programmer 7 / 23

8 Define the lead assay. Select if the truck decides, if a vapour connection is necessary for this product or if the service station decides if it s necessary or not. Select the class of the product: AIII: for Diesel products (not Ex) AI: for petrol products (Ex) Secu PID Programmer 8 / 23

9 It is possible to use the additional message #4 of the draft edition of EN from Please note that this message is NOT FIXED in the actual valid standard! If you check Telegram #4, new buttons with parameters are visible on the right side. Used type of overfill prevention? Vapour recovery defined? Separate or common vapour? Is the vapour connection equipped with PID? Is an additional grounding cable necessary? Secu PID Programmer 9 / 23

10 Leave the default bit setting wit Save button or with Abort to cancel the changes. Create PID Information s for a service station At first choose service station and from what tank number ( tank beginning ) the PIDs should start: The tank numbers are important for the allocation of the tank-limitprobes of SECU Multiplexer. They should always start with 1. If you need more than 1 SECU MultiPID, every new MultiPID has to start with the following tank-number! Example: One service station has 8 tanks and 1 central vapour recovery connection: The first MultiPID starts with tank number 1 and has defined 6 tanks, the second MultiPID starts with tank number 7 and has 2 tanks and 1 vapour recovery connection defined. Define a tank connection: Choose the connection product Choose your required product from the list. Secu PID Programmer 10 / 23

11 If you have checked Use default bits the parameter are set automatically and you are finished whit this PID channel. If you haven t checked Use default bits you have to set the parameters manually by pressing the corresponding buttons (handle it in the same way it is described in chapter Create standard parameters ). Define a product-specific Vapour Recovery Connection: If a product connection has an own separate vapour-recovery connection, then the PID after this product PID connection has to be defined as Vapour Recovery. Choose the connection vapour recovery and uncheck the field common. Now the product from the defined connection above will automatically be taken over. The vapour recovery connection is now defined. 12 Define a central vapour recovery: Choose vapour recovery on your required connection and keep common checked (in this example the PID 6 was chosen for the common vapour). If you have checked Use default bits a button is visible beside of common. You can choose the kind of common vapour: All Diesel Petrol The parameters are set automatically. If you haven t checked Use default bits, set the parameters manually. Create PID Information s for a Depot At first choose depot. Define a product connection: Choose the type of connection product and choose your required product from the list. Secu PID Programmer 12 / 23

13 Define a central vapour recovery connection (common vapour recovery): On the depots only common vapour central vapour) is possible, no separate vapour recovery! Choose vapour recovery on your required connection and keep the common checked. Normally all is the right parameter for common vapour connection on a depot. Create alternative products for PID connection 1 and 2 You can define the first 2 PID-channels with an alternative product for depots with loading arms which can deliver 2 different products. The SECU MultiPID has 2 inputs, which can be controlled/switched over potential free contacts of switches or a PLC. Are the contacts open, the MultiPID gives the data of the PIDs 1 and 2 to the 1 st and 2 nd channels. If alternative products are programmed and chosen, then you can switch over these inputs the responsible channel to the alternative product PID 1(a) resp. 2(a). Alternative PIDS are only available if the corresponding main PID is defined as product and isn t connected to a single vapour PID. For defining the alternative products check alternative PID 1 and/or alternative PID 2 and press the button alternative PIDs : Secu PID Programmer 13 / 23

15 If use default bits is not checked, you can manually set the wisched parameters. Press the key main PIDs to change the display to the 6 main PID channels. To activate an alternative product on connection 1 the following criteria s have to be fulfilled: PID 1 has to be defined as product The connection PID 2 may not be defined as a product specific vapour recovery (marked as vapour and not selected as common ) To activate an alternative product on connection 2 the following criteria s have to be fulfilled: PID 2 has to be defined as product The connection PID 3 may not be defined as a product specific vapour recovery (marked as vapour and not selected as common ) Secu PID Programmer 15 / 23

16 Save PID Information s If you would like to save and archive your PID information s or you need always the same data again, you can save them as follows: Press save Insert a name for your PID-information which makes sense. The data are automatically generated with the extension.pid. With the PID-file automatically the product-file (see change of product list ) is saved with the extension.tpc. This is important for the verification and assignment of the products in case of you have changed the product-list in the meantime. Secu PID Programmer 16 / 23

17 Open a saved PID file Press open Choose the required data-file. On saving of PID data, the product data-file was saved automatically. This product data-file will now be compared with the now actual product data-file. If they do not match, you will get a warning, that the actual product-list ( user.tpc ) will be overwritten. But the actual file will be copied before to user.bak into the map C:\PIDProgrammer\. If you want to restore this file later, you can do that with restore in the window edit products. 18 Programming a SECU MultiPID Please read the security instructions on page 2! After you have defined the PID-Information s or you have opened a stored data-file you can program the SECU MultiPID. Open the cover of the SECU MultiPID. Connect the RS232 cable of the SECU USB/232 Adapter with the 9-pin female connector of the device Press the key program PID At first the program reads the serial number of the SECU MultiPID and shows it. 19 After that the data are programmed into the SECU MultiPID. During that time you should not disconnect the cable from the device! In case of a mistake, it could be possible that the serial number is deleted. In this case you will be asked from the system to enter the MultiPID serial number again during the next programming. You will find the serial number on the label on the SECU MultiPID - the last 5 numbers of this. For Example: PID Read a SECU MultiPID You can also read the data of a programmed SECU MultiPID. The information s are shown accordingly and can also be stored. Read the security instructions on page 2! Open the cover of the MultiPID. Connect the RS232 cable of the SECU USB/232 Adapter with the 9-pin female connector of the device. Press the key read PID After reading operation the serial number of the MultiPID is shown and the corresponding PIDinformation. In the SECU MultiPID the product-codes are stored and not the product-texts. That s why you should be sure that the PID was programmed with an equivalent product-list. If not, products maybe indicated wrong or are undefined. Secu PID Programmer 19 / 23

20 Print the PID data You can print a summary of selected PID data. Press the button print. Now you can enter a header text for the printout. Press the button print of the new window to print the data to the Windows standard printer. 21 Change of the Product List Here you have the possibility to change the product list, to expand it or easy hide not needed products. Changes here should be done very seldom and carefully, because already programmed PIDs could be shown their products not correct any more. Press the button products : A new window appears. In this window the product-list is shown in English and German. It starts with the first product of the standard-list EN You cannot change the productcode. You can change the text, you should change it in both languages. The short-indication is only an indication-help and should be chosen with sense. Since the program version 2.1.x.x default the product grade is shown as the short indication. If the field below the eye is checked, you can see the product in the selection-list of the PIDs. With the arrow-keys on the left you can switch between the products. Next to the arrow-keys the line number 1 to 50 is shown. The first 26 products are according to the standard EN 14116, the other products can be free defined. Product codes from 1 to 254 are allowed, as far as they are not already defined somewhere else. ATTENTION: Take care with the definition of new product codes, because you cannot be sure if another depot is maybe using the same code for another product or if this code will maybe standardized in future. By pressing the button default the product list will be reset to factory setting. All self-defined codes will be deleted. By pressing the button restore the data-file user.bak will be copied over the product-data-file user.tpc. If you had overwritten the product-list by reading another PID data file, it is possible to restore the previous list now. Secu PID Programmer 21 / 23

22 Initialization of the SECU MultiPID to factory setting If you cannot communicate with the SECU MultiPID anymore, for any reason, it can be possible that the basic-programming is defect. Up from the version V there is the possibility to restore the device to factory setting and reprogram the firmware. Connect the MultiPID and press the button factory reset Confirm afterwards that you want to restore to factory setting. The check and the programming takes around 15 to 20 seconds. If the SECU MultiPID was originally programmed correctly, you get a message. If the serialnumber was lost, you will be asked to put it in (look at page 16). Attention: after the factory-setting-initialization the PID data are set to default values, please reprogram it with the wished data! Program updates In the headline of the program you find the version-number. If you computer is connected with the Internet, you will be automatically reminded for new software update on program starting. If you are not connected to internet, please control from time to time if there are any upgrades available. Secu PID Programmer 22 / 23
