4 C r e a t i n g a J o b t o T r i g g e r t h e O u t b o u n d I n t e r f a c e This document explains how to create variants for each of the outbound interface points and then create and schedule a job for each of the interface points. You can then view the job details. Creating Variants A variant must be created for each of the outbound interface points. The variants will be used when you create the job for the interface points. The outbound interface points are: Equipment send Functional location send Assembly send Maintenance item and plan send Task list send Notification status send 4

5 Step 1 1. Go to transaction SE Enter ZPM_SCHEDULE_OUTBOUND in the Program field. 3. If it is not already selected, select the Source code radio button. 4. Click the Execute button, as shown below or press F8 Execute Program name Select the Source code radio button Step 2 1. In the selection screen that appears, select the interface point (Equipment send, functional location send, assembly send, maintenance item and plan send, task list send, or task list send) that you want to trigger. 2. Specify the Number of days parameter to determine the data to be selected. If the Number of days field is blank, the created and changed data for the current date will be sent. If you enter X number of days, then the data that has been changed, created, or deleted in the date range (Current date to X ) will be selected and sent to APM. 3. Specify the RFC destination. 4. Specify the Language Key in which the text needs to be fetched in the SAP system for data transfer to the APM system. 5. Specify the number of records that need to be bundled in a single message to the SAP PI system. For example, if you specify the Number of records as 50 and 100 equipment records are read from SAP, then two messages, each containing 50 records, will be triggered in the SAP PI system. 6. Select the radio button that corresponds to the interface point that you want to trigger as shown below. 5

7 Step 3 1. In the next screen, enter the variant name in the Variant name field. 2. Enter the meaning in Meaning field. 3. Click the Save icon. Note: Variant name and its meaning can have any value; that is, there are no restrictions for the values in these fields. Variant name Meaning This creates the variant that you can use while scheduling this program. 7

8 Creating and Scheduling Jobs Creating Jobs to Trigger the Outbound Interface You must schedule jobs for each of the interface points using their corresponding variants. Repeat these steps for each of the interface points. Step 4 1. Go to transaction SM36. It will display the following screen. 2. Enter the job name in the Job name field. 3. Enter the class in the Job class field. Leave the Exec. Target field blank. 4. Press Enter. Note: There are three types of job; enter the one you want. 1. A High priority 2. B Middle priority 3. C Low priority Job name can be anything according to your need; that is, there are no restrictions on the value in this field. Job name Job Class can have type A, B or C Exec. Target 8

9 Step 5 When you press Enter, a new popup window appears, as shown below. 1. Enter the program name ZPM_SCHEDULE_OUTBOUND in the Name field. 2. Enter the variant that corresponds to the interface point for which you are creating a job in the Variant field. 3. Click the Save icon. Name Variant Save Step 6 In the next screen, you can see the job details. Click the Back icon to return to the main screen. Back 9

10 Step 7 1. Press the Save icon, as shown below. This creates a job with the specified name. 2. Click the Start condition icon. Save Start condition 10

11 Step 8 When you click the Start condition icon, a popup window is displayed, as shown below. 1. Click the Date/Time icon. 2. Enter the schedule start date in the Schedule start date field. 3. Enter the start time in the Schedule start time field. 4. Select the Periodic job checkbox if the job is to be run repeatedly. Date/Time Start Date Start Time Check box to indicate a periodic job 11

12 Step 9 1. Click the Period values icon to select the periodic parameter. 2. Click the Weekly icon if the job is to be repeated weekly, as shown below. 3. Click the Check button to check if the data entered is correct. 4. Click the Save icon. Note: You can also select the other options hourly, daily, and monthly, depending on your requirement. 13 Viewing Job Details 1. Go to transaction SM37. The screen below is displayed. 2. Enter the user name in the User name field (the SAP log on name through which you created job). 3. Enter * in the Job name field. 4. Select all of the check boxes, as shown. 5. Enter the job start condition as required. 6. Enter the ABAP program name as ZPM_OUTBOUND_SCHEDULE. 7.
