1 FY18 Self-Appraisal for Leaders [Assistant Manager and above] 1

2 Important Notes A. WARNING! Use of the internet Back and Forward navigation buttons will end your session and remove ALL entries since your last Save! B. Your self-appraisal sections will not be available/open until: 1) You enter your personal goal(s) 2) Notify your Primary Reviewer (manager/leader) your goals are done 3) Your Primary Reviewer approves them C. Your Primary Reviewer will not be able to activate your appraisal without your completed goals. D. IMPORTANT! Once goals are approved, they are locked for autoentry into Section 1 of the Self-Appraisal and Colleague Input forms. Approval also activates the remaining sections of the Performance Appraisal. ANY changes to approved goals must be manually edited in each document (Self-Appraisal and Performance Appraisal). E. Saving your work: 1) Click the Save button in the upper right corner as often as desired, but at a minimum, BEFORE you click a different Section/Tab. 2) If you prefer to complete and save all of your work in one sitting, consider creating a rough draft using the FY18 Leadership Appraisal example form in the Performance Appraisal (PA) Process section of the Performance Management website. Once your draft is ready, return to eperformance and use your example form as a guide to complete your self-appraisal. F. Notifying your Primary Reviewer that your self-appraisal is complete: 1) Click Notify to send a custom to your Primary Reviewer indicating you have completed your final draft of your Self-Appraisal 2) Click Complete to submit and LOCK your Self-Appraisal against any further edits 2

5 1. Access Appraisal A. From Employee Self Service, open Current Documents (steps 1 5 below) Select Main Menu (not Manager Self Service ; MSS is for your teams appraisals) B. Select Performance Appraisal from your list of Current Documents A document status of Evaluation in Progress signifies goals have been updated and approved by your primary reviewer (leader/manager). Click Performance Appraisal. As of 11/14/17, you may notice 2 Performance Appraisal (PA) documents, one each for FY17 and FY18. These can be distinguished by the Period Begin and End dates!

7 2. Rate and Comment on Goal Performance A. Under Section 1 Personal Goals, Open the Desired Goal(s) Track your progress and view deadlines at the left side of your screen Option 1 - Expand all goals at once by clicking the Expand All button NOTE: option 1 lets you skip repeating step A. Option 2 - Expand one goal at a time by clicking the gray arrow before its name NOTE: option 2 requires you to repeat step A for each goal. Track your progress & deadlines Access Sections via the Tab Layout Option 1 Expand all goals Option 2 Expand and work on one goal at a time NEW! Reference Materials available within your Appraisal.

8 2. Rate and Comment on Goal Performance B. Rate Your Performance on Each Goal Option 1 Select the appropriate rating number from the drop down list Option 2 Open the Proficiency & Rating Descriptions window then select the appropriate rating based upon the description. Edit Goal warning edits do not get updated in the official appraisal! Option 1 - Select Your Goal Rating from the Drop Down List. Option 2 - Select Proficiency/See Rating Descriptions Click Select Proficiency to Add Rating C. Add Performance Notes Related to Each Goal Click Add Performance Notes Option 1 - Manually add notes by typing them in the Editing window s text box Option 2 Import applicable notes from your Performance Notes file (also see Job Aid - Creating, Editing, and Importing Performance Notes) Click Add Performance Notes to open the Editing Screen.

9 Comments Box Editing Bar Functionality Editing Options Bar (always select text first) This bar is available in text box areas, such as the Performance Notes boxes in each section of the Performance Appraisal. Suggestion use Spell Check prior to completing/submitting your Performance Appraisal. Change Font Name of your selected text Apply bold, italics, and/or underline Change text color or shading Opens text in miniwindow Change Font Size of your selected text Add numbering or bullets

11 3. Rate and Comment on ASPIRE Behaviors A. Under Section 2 ASPIRE Values, Open and Rate Each Value Option 1 - Click Expand located below the section title to expand all of the values Option 2 Expand one value at a time by clicking the gray arrow preceding a value Access Sections via the Tab Layout Option 1 - Expand all values Option 2 - Expand one value B. Rate Each ASPIRE Value Click the drop down arrow in the Rating box, making the desired choice Repeat until all Values have been rated. Select Your Value Rating

Add Comments Supporting your Overall ASPIRE Value Rating Click the Add Performance Notes link to the left of the Comments box Comments can be organized using bullets instead of a narrative Click the Add Performance Notes link to import or manually type specific examples supporting your ratings in this ASPIRE section. Adding Performance Notes/Comments Step 2 Click Save and Return to go back to the ASPIRE section then click Save in the upper right corner of the screen to save the document. Step 1 Select Performance Notes then Go to import notes AND/OR manually type specific examples supporting your ratings in this ASPIRE section.

14 4. Summarize Strengths Section 3: Strengths Team Member Comments/Performance Notes Click Add Performance Notes to Import (see pgs 20-22) or Manually add Notes (examples that support your Strengths). Click Save and Return when done.

16 5. Identify Development Areas Section 4: Development Team Member Comments/Performance Notes Click Add Performance Notes to Import and/or Manually add Notes (examples that identify your opportunities for Development). Click Save and Return when done.

18 6. Save Your Work A. Click the Save icon Click Save B. Verify the on screen confirmation message appears Confirm the Save C. If you Sign Out without Saving, You Will Receive a Save Warning Clicking Yes does NOT save. Instead it closes the Save Warning box to allow you to click the SAVE button located in the top right of your Performance Appraisal screen (see Step A, above).

20 7. Print Your Self-Appraisal A. Click Print B. Move your mouse down to the bottom of the page C. Click the Printer icon to open the Print window D. Close the Performance Appraisal Print window to exit print preview A. Click the Print icon D. Close the Window after printing B. Move your mouse to the bottom of the page to activate the control panel C. Click the Printer icon to open the Print window

Compose and Send Your Notification Automatically populated with your leader s address Type your message here; specify the purpose of the (i.e. Self-Appraisal is complete) Click Send to submit your Click Cancel to exit and return to your appraisal

23 8. Submit and Lock Self-Appraisal A. Click the Complete icon Click Complete to finalize and LOCK your appraisal. B. Confirm Appraisal Clicking Confirm will finalize your appraisal, lock it from any further edits, and send an automated completion to your Primary Reviewer/manager. Clicking Cancel keeps your appraisal open for additional edits and entries. Click Confirm to finalize and LOCK your appraisal. Click Cancel to return to your appraisal. C. Example of an Automated Confirmation Sent to Your Manager

24 8. Submit and Lock Self-Appraisal D. Refresh the appraisal status Click the Refresh circles to update the appraisal status. Status is still Self-Appraisal Update and Complete. E. View Updated Status Status is now updated to Self-Appraisal - Completed. Save and Complete buttons no longer available. Steps and Tasks is now updated with a green check mark and VIEW.
