2 About ACH Pass-Thru The ACH Pass-Thru module within VNB Connect Plus allows you to load and manage pass-thru ACH files. The pass-thru ACH file is created outside of VNB Connect Plus and loaded into the ACH product for validation and processing. This feature is optional and provides the following key benefits: Consolidated ACH activity, which allows for better tracking and audit trail. Consistent ACH format validation, which eliminates the confusion of different systems performing different ACH validation. Provides a single comprehensive transmission path for all of your ACH files, streamlining file transmission processing. When you load a pass-thru ACH file into the ACH product, VNB Connect Plus validates that the format of the records in the ACH file match the standard ACH file record formats supported by the ACH product. These formats comply with NACHA formats. After the validation is complete, you accept the pass-thru ACH file, which sends the ACH file to the bank for processing. Initiating an ACH Pass-Thru File To initiate an ACH Pass-Thru file created by your company using an internal system: 1. Select the ACH group from the group list on the upper left corner of any page on the system. 2. Select the ACH Pass-Thru tab to access the Pass-Thru Selection page. The system will display the Pass-Thru Selection page. Page 2 of 6

3 3. Click the Browse button to find the ACH file in a folder on your computer that you wish to submit to the Bank for processing. 4. Click the Load File button to submit the pass-thru file and initiate the verification process to ensure that the record format complies with ACH standard format. A message box will display, indicating the load/validation process is in progress. It may take several minutes for the program to complete. Click the Close button to close the message box and return to the Pass-Thru Selection page. NOTE: Once the file verification process has completed, you will have to review the results and accept the file in order to complete the file transfer and affect funds transfer to the intended accounts (see step 5). 4 5. In order to view the results of the pass-thru file verification, click the Review Pending button on the Pass-Thru Selection page. The Pass-Thru Summary Report page will display showing summary information for pending pass-thru files. One of four status codes will inform you of the file status: 6. Click the red arrow icon in the Process column to open the ACH Pass-Thru Detail Report page or click the Close button to return to the ACH Pass-Thru Selection page. Use the ACH Pass-Thru Detail Selection to review detail information, and to accept or delete the pass-thru file. Any error or warning messages corresponding to the pass-thru file will be displayed on this page. Make sure the File shows a Status of S which indicates it was successful and Select the RED arrow to Process the file. List of Status Messages (F) (L) (S) (W) The pass-thru file failed the verification process. The pass-thru file is currently being loaded for verification. The pass- thru file loaded successfully. The pass-thru file loaded successfully, but there were formatting warning messages. Page 4 of 6

Click the Accept button to approve the file contents and complete the file transfer, the Delete button to delete the pass-thru file and avert any further processing of the file, or the Close to take no action to remove the pass-thru file from pending and return to the Pending Pass-Thru Summary Report. When you accept a pass-thru file with a status of S, an Accepted Pass-Thru Confirmation page will display. Click the Accept button again to proceed or the Cancel button if you wish to go back to the previous screen to delete the file. Please note if you accept the file, the bank will receive the ACH file for processing and will be on alert to receive an ACH Totals notification which verifies the proper file has been submitted for processing. 8. The Review Accepted page displays all accepted ACH pass-through files, even after files are sent to the bank for processing. You can click the Delete icon to delete an accepted ACH pass-through file from the list, but this does not prevent the file from being sent to the bank for processing or affect the file in any way. This would simply clear your ACH Pass-thru file submission history. Page 5 of 6

6 About ACH Totals Use the ACH Totals service to submit the total credit amount and total debit amount of all ACH files sent to the bank for processing during the current day. VNB Connect Plus sends the totals information to the bank s ACH Operations Department via . Notifying VNB of ACH Pass-Thru File Totals To report ACH Pass-Thru file totals to the bank for file confirmation: 1. Select the ACH group from the group list on the upper left corner of any page on the system. 2. Select the ACH Totals tab to access the File Totals Notification page. The system will display the File Totals Notification page. Complete the screen template with the required file related information. Then click the Submit button to initiate an message to the ACH Department providing them with the file information. NOTE: When entering amounts into the ACH Totals service, do not include the dollar sign ($) or the comma (,) in the Total Debit Amount or Total Credit Amount fields. Page 6 of 6
