1 Compliance with standard ASHRAE appendix G Performance Rating Method in VE2017 The development team is working on the navigator for ASHRAE appendix G which is scheduled to be rolled out soon. For the time being, we have created this document, which serves as a workaround to use the existing ASHRAE appendix G navigator to work on projects based on The workflow for this process will be to use the to generate the baseline model which is compliant to initially. Then the next step is to assign the correct constructions, internal gains etc which are compliant to to the baseline model. Following are the changes required to be made by the user to get the baseline compliant with : 1. Envelope thermo-physical properties 2. Internal gains and gain profiles 3. Daylighting controls 4. HVAC system EERs, pump/ fan power 5. Window-wall ratio Along with this document, we have created a VE project which will be referenced in the description. It is available for download here: Click here to download The first step is to import data from the above mentioned VE project. This project contains compliant internal gains and constructions. Here are the steps to import data in your project a. Save the.cab file to a convenient location and unzip the file. b. Open the VE project you are working on. c. Go to Tools Master templates Master template wizard

2 d. In the import window, browse to the location where the 2013 baseline VE project is located and select the VE file for import. e. Select the import data option from the list.

3 f. Check all box for all template import and all data import. Follow the wizard to complete data import. With the completion of importing master templates, the constructions, internal gains and gains profiles are imported in the project. 1. Envelope thermo-physical properties The imported data contains all the constructions for climate zone-4. Also present are the most commonly required baseline constructions for climate zone-3 and climate zone-4. We are in the process of creating constructions for the rest of the climate zones. Users having projects in the rest of climate zones will have to create constructions for now. They are advised to use CZ-4 constructions as a datum and edit them (First duplicate the construction and then edit).

4 Assigning the constructions to baseline model: Once the baseline model is generated, users can toggle between proposed and baseline. To open up this option, click on ASHRAE 90.1 APP G PRM under the compliance category in applications. Next step is to assign constructions to baseline. To do this, select the entire model ( or parts of model whatever is relevant) and open the assign constructions window in apache. Select the existing construction and replace it with relevant construction. 2. Internal gains and gain profiles The imported templates contain lighting power density, plug loads, occupancy values, and related profiles. The data source for these values is COMNET. Similar to constructions, the step here is assigning templates to the baseline model. Make sure it is the baseline model that is being edited. Select the entire model (or parts of it whichever is relevant) and open the tabular space data. In the general tab, change the thermal templates for the spaces.

5 A few other updates: 3. Baseline daylighting controls Manually update baseline daylighting controls to match the requirement of the ASHRAE The controls can be found under the lighting gain dimming profiles column in tabular space data. 4. Manually update EERs/pump power/etc as needed for HVAC. 5. If you need to use a new system type 12 or 13, please let us know. 6. Manually update the Baseline Window-Wall ratio after generating the baseline. The baseline WWR should adhere to table G in the standard. Note: This document only acts as a guideline to use VE2017 for Appendix G PRM projects. The users are recommended to refer to the standard for additional information.
