Using a free program called Canva, you can design and create high-quality pins for Pinterest. First, create your free account by going to You can sign up with Facebook, Google, or .

3 Log into your Canva account and you ll see different templates available to create high-quality pins for Pinterest. If you click More, you ll see a list of all the available presized templates. You can start with Pinterest Graphic but you can choose any template you wish. You can even use custom dimensions by clicking the Use custom dimensions button in the top right corner.

4 Simply enter your desired custom dimensions and click Design! to start designing your pin. Step-by-Step Guide to Create Pins: Click your desired template, and it will open a blank pin to be customized.

5 This is how your blank canvas will look, with several layout options on the left under the Layouts button. Some layouts are free while others are paid. Suggestion: Instead of using paid layouts, we recommend you design your own pins and find out what format works best for you.

6 Uploads button allows you to upload your images. All images you upload will be saved here. Either drag and drop your image or click Upload your own images to upload your image.

7 Click the newly uploaded image to insert it to your pin. Adjust the image to where you feel it looks great. Optional Tip 1: When you have multiple layers, you can use the Arrange option to switch the layer between Forward/Back. Make sure your desired layer is selected.

8 Optional Tip 2: You can apply different filters to your image using the Filter option. You can also adjust the Brightness and Contrast of your image. Crop: You can crop the image using this option. Flip: You can flip the image vertically or horizontally using this option.

9 Using the Background button, you can select a background for your pin. You can either select a plain background color or a patterned background.

10 Text button allows you to select different font layouts. Simply drag and drop your desired font layout and edit the text. Play around to see what works best for you.

11 You can change your font settings from the control panel on the top. (Make sure text layer is selected.) Here you can change font styles, font size, font colors, bold/italic, justifications, capitalizations, and bullet points. If you want to delete an item (image, background, or text), simply select the item you want to delete and click the Trash icon.

12 Elements button allows you to add different interesting elements to your pin design to further enhance it. Free Photos: Here you can find a large variety of free stock images to use in your pin designs. Grids and Frames: These options allow you to showcase your images in different grid and frame layouts. Shapes/Lines/Illustrations: Allow you to draw different shapes, lines, and illustrations. Banners: You can draw banners in different shapes and styles and add text to them.

13 Once your pin is ready, click the name on top to edit your pin name (by default, Canva assigns a dummy name to your pin). Make sure the name is short, otherwise Canva may not save it and you may lose your work.

14 How to Download Your Pin: On top right corner, click the Download button. You can download as PNG (Recommended) or JPEG because Pinterest accepts both formats. Click Download button to download your pin to your computer. Note: If you ve used any paid items in your pin design, you ll have to pay before you can download your pin.
