2 GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course offers an understanding of how FrontPage works and introduces the student to HTM language. The student creates Home pages using a template, uses the Database Results Wizard and the Interface Wizard, and manages Webs on a server. Covers editing, formatting, enhancing, publishing, and managing techniques. The student produces Internet postable pages using banner ads, feedback forms, confirmation pages, hit counters, hot spot links, hyperlinks, image maps, and subwebs. RELATIONSHIP TO COLLEGE PROGRAM Program Admission: It is strongly recommended that students enter the program with Grade 12. Students require a minimum C standing in Applications of Math 11 and minimum C+ in English 11; or ABE Advanced Level Certificate; or GED Certificate with a C+ in English 80; or assessment to acceptable level. Prerequisite: OR ABT 120 Word Processing: MSWord and ABT 152 Introductory Computer Concepts: Microsoft Office Minimum 2 years office experience and proven ability in use of Microsoft Office Suite. 4 CORE ABILITIES DEVELOPED IN THIS COURSE: Critical thinking to apply advanced document layout to sophisticated Web based production. Communication skills to produce error-free documents and apply language arts skills. COURSE WORK: Delivery: Resources: Students follow a course module and receive individualized instruction in a computer lab. Students will follow a schedule to access blocks of time within the lab. Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Comprehensive Concepts and Techniques. Pertinent software will be needed on student s computer. EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT: The final course grade will be based on practical projects, skill assessments, and theory tests as follows: Project theory & Skill Assessments 5% ea) Mid Term Practical Final Project Exit Keying Speed 45 wpm < 3% error rate % Of total Grade 40% 25% 35% EXAM POLICY: Students must attend all required scheduled exams that make up a final grade at the appointed time and place. Individual instructors may accommodate for illness or personal crisis. Additional accommodation will not be made unless a written request is sent to and approved by the appropriate Dean of Instruction prior to the scheduled exam. Any student who misses a scheduled exam without approval will be given a grade of 0 for the exam. PLAGIARISM POLICY: Plagiarism using the oral or written words and ideas of others without proper acknowledgment is an academic offense. Because plagiarism is a form of academic misconduct, students found guilty face serious consequences.
