1 Business Examples of Pinterest from Students The Allrecipes Pinterest page contains many pinboards full of a variety of recipes: allrecipes.com has found plenty of success thanks to Pinterest, with a 900% traffic increase last holiday season due to their use of the Pin It button on each recipe they shared. After you choose a recipe, there is a call to action that sends you to the recipe at main website.

2 Business Examples of Pinterest from Students The Lowes Pinterest page contains links to several different products, how-to guides, and tips: Lowes uses Pinterest to show off DIY ideas with materials they sell.

3 Business Examples of Pinterest from Students Etsy is a website where designers, product makers, etc., can post some of their own unique goods. They use Pinterest to show and promote several of those products to users.

4 Go to create a new account if you have to. Choose a unique password (write it down). Since we are creating fake small business pinboards today, we ll use the basic Pinterest account. However, a real business can set up a business Pinterest account at the following URL: The business account is mostly the same, but additional useful features are added, like: Pinterest Analytics Link Rich Pins Link

8 Click on the person icon at the top right of the page: Create a new board:

9 Your mission is to create a new pinboard for a small business. You can choose the business topic and find appropriate content to put on the pin board. For example, you might own a bakery, and post content related to the products you create. You might own a clothing line, and post content related to the clothing you sell.

10 Add information about the small business: Name the board. (Use the business name.) Don t make it secret I want to look at it later.

11 Click the pencil icon:

12 Add a description of the business. Add more information about your business.

13 Add two Pins from your computer. Keep track of the images source URL, you ll need them later. Look in the bottom right of the screen for Select Upload a Pin : Upload two images pins from your desktop related to your small business idea. Use Pixabay.com to find royalty free images that you can legally post on your board. First download from Pixabay to the desktop, then upload to Pinterest.

14 Add a description and select the board you want to pin it to, then save it to the correct pinboard:

15 View your board and edit the Pins. You should include the source website for the images.

16 Add the source URL in the Website box: Add the image source URL here. Alternatively, use this for the call to action. Paste the URL of your own website, LinkedIn page, etc. here.

17 After adding the source URL the Pin looks like this when you roll over it: Source URL visible here. Visit button visible here after you open the pin.

18 After adding two pins, as shown in the example below, you need to add a third pin from a website.

19 Paste the URL of the website that contains the image you want to use.

20 Choose the image you want to pin.

21 Add a description and save it to your board.

22 Your pinboard should now have two uploaded pins, and one from another pinboard, for a total of three pins related to your small business. Let s add a YouTube video to your pinboard. YouTube videos provide another opportunity to use a call to action. Remember, you can add links within your YouTube video. Search YouTube for a video related to your small business.

23 Click the share button below the YouTube video: Select the Pinterest icon:

24 Save the video to your board:

25 Upload an image that represents your business. It will be your Profile Picture. Select the person icon: Select the gear icon: Upload a profile picture:

26 Next you ll need to determine the public URL of your pinboard: Open your pinboard. Look in the address bar of the browser, it should look something like this: Check out your small business pinboard using your smartphone.

27 What to Submit What to submit: me your public Pinterest Pinboard URL. I ll take a look at it by Thursday, April 20 (after that date you can delete it if you want). It will have your two uploaded pins, and the single pin from a website, and a video pin. Use Pinterest as the subject. jhall@coe.edu
