LOGGING IN TO EASYBIB 1. Using Google Chrome, go to and click on Login: 2. Click on the option Sign in with Google: 1
CREATING A NEW PROJECT OR ADDING TO AN EXISTING PROJECT 1. If you don t see this screen, click on the My Projects link on whatever page you are on: 2. Once you see this page, Click New Project if you are starting a new project. Be sure to set the Default Style on MLA 8. If you want to work in a project you ve already created, click on the Bibliography link under the project name: 2
ADDING BOOKS 1. Select the Book tab: Type in the ISBN for a book; click the Cite this button: 2. If more than one book option appears, select the one that best matches your source info. Click the Cite This button for the best match: 3
3. Modify information you believe is inaccurate. If your source card information does not match what EasyBib automatically enters, you need to manually fix errors. EasyBib is good, but it s not perfect. For this book, the series name was left out. Manually type it in. Sometimes an author may need to be added or deleted. Always check for mistakes! 4. Once you have made any necessary edits, click the Create Citation button: 4
ADDING DATABASE ARTICLES 1. Select the Database tab: 2. Click the Copy & Paste link: 5
3. Go to your database article and copy all of the MLA citation information (for MLA 8 include the URL): 4. Paste the copied citation into the box and hit the Create Citation box. 6
ADDING ENCYCLOPEDIA ARTICLES 1. Click on the All 59 Options Tab, and then select Encyclopedia Article 2. Type in all information, and click on the Create Citation button at the bottom of the page. 7
ADDING WEBSITE ARTICLES 1. Click on the Website tab and then copy and paste the URL of the website in the box. Click the Cite It button: 2. EasyBib will give you a report of what information it found and what you may need to locate on your own. It will also tell you whether it feels the site is credible or not. You may need to discuss with your teacher EasyBib s credibility rating for your site. If you will use this site, click the Continue button. 8
3. EasyBib will fill in what it thinks is accurate; you modify anything you believe to be more accurate. YOU are smarter than EasyBib, so make changes if you believe information is inaccurate. Do the best you can to provide as much information as possible. You may have to leave some items blank. 9
SHARING YOUR WORKS CITED PAGE 1. There are a number of ways to sharing your document, but most likely you will be adding a compiled list of sources to a paper or project, so the best option is to save it to your Google Drive, and then you will have a properly formatted Works Cited page to incorporate into your paper/project. 2. You don t want to save your Works Cited page until you are 100% certain it is done; otherwise you will end up with multiple copies of Works Cited pages and be uncertain which version is the correct version. 3. Click on Export and select Save to Google Docs: 4. Follow your teacher s instructions as to what you should do with your Works Cited page for each paper/project. Some may want you to add it to the end of your paper. Others may want you to attach it as a Google Classroom assignment. 10
