1 Summary This Job Aid covers: Accessing the Network Status Portal Network Status Portal Layout Current Outages vs. Working Beams This Job Aid supports the all audiences that use the ViaSat Support Portal. Accessing the Network Status Portal 1. After logging into the Support Portal, click the View Outages Details link in the Outage Board. The Network Status Portal login page appears. 2. Retype the same User ID and password used to log into the Support Portal. The Portal page appears, listing any known outages. Network Status Portal Layout The Portal page contains several sections: Current Outages SurfBeam 2 Network (ViaSat-1) SurfBeam 2 Network (Augmentation) SurfBeam 1 Network (AMC-15, Anik-F2, WildBlue-1) Each of these sections begins with a header that provides navigation, search, and sort fields, which allows the user to locate specific information. See image below ViaSat, Inc. Page 1 of 6

2 The Refresh button updates the page to real time information. Sort Navigation Search Navigation 1. The Navigation allows the user to move through the pages of results. The navigation has First Page, Previous Page, Numbered Pages, Next Page, and Last Page buttons. 2. Click the button to move the results forward or backward ViaSat, Inc. Page 2 of 6

3 Sort 1. The Sort arrows change the ascending/descending direction of the current page of results. If necessary, use the Navigation to change the page before sorting. 2. Click the up or down arrow as desired. Search 1. The Search fields allow the user to type keywords, and narrow the results. The remaining items contain the keyword. 2. Type the keyword into the field. If the Portal does not refresh immediately, press Enter. Logout Removing the keyword refreshes the page to show all results. The logout link appears at the bottom right corner of the Network Status Portal page. This link returns the user to the Network Status Portal login page. It does not log the user out of the Support Portal, although the user may have to change the browser tab to work again in the Support Portal ViaSat, Inc. Page 3 of 6

4 Current Outages vs. Working Beams The Network Status Portal Job Aid The Network Status Portal provides a summary statement at the very top of the page. Use each section to provide details of any current outages. Current Outages Section There are several columns of helpful information in this section. Type: This describes the basic nature of the outage. Dealers will be interested in any Backoffice types. Weather-related outages are also listed under this column. Impacted Party: This describes the various groups who may be affected by the outage. Dealers will be interested in the Subscriber, Technician and Customer Care parties (Dealer is not a listed party at this time). Impairment: This column describes the functions affected by the outage. Outages that affect Order Entry, Billing, etc. may help Dealers when investigating orders that do not complete correctly, or if a Customer asks a billing question. Beam: This lists the affected beam, if the outage is related to the Subscriber networks (not Back office). The beam number is a link to the beam map, which lists the severity of the impact. ETR: This provides the estimated time to resolution information that is critical for Self-installing Dealers as they are preparing to complete work orders. Dealers are strongly advised to check for outages before sending a Technician to the Customer s site. If the ETR is short, then it may be appropriate to send the Technician; however, if the outage is long lasting, then it may be better to direct the Technician to other work. Details: This button displays a popup that summarizes everything that is known about the outage ViaSat, Inc. Page 4 of 6

The Status of each beam is listed as Outage or Working, and then summarizes the information about the outage.
