2 Class Scheduler Background Class Scheduler is a hosted product called College Scheduler UIC and UIUC purchased the product in November 2016 UIC started the implementation in January 2017 Intial Implementation Completed in July 2017
3 Class Scheduler Features Students are able to: Select a Term Select Parts of Terms (first half, second half, etc.) Select Courses Status (Open or Open and Closed) Select Courses by Subject and Number Subject, Number and Topic(for topics courses) Section Attribute Instructor
4 Class Scheduler Features (continued) Block out times for no classes Commute time Work Set Class Padding Time Ability to select or deselect certain sections Class Registration from Banner Honors Sections are highlighted
5 Class Scheduler Features (continued) Banner Data Integration Section count data updated every minute Course Information updated once an hour Displays Course Catalog data Displays Section information (long and short descriptions) Identifies courses that have prerequisites Generates thousands of schedules Schedule Shuffling feature Integrates using plan function with Banner XE Registration

12 Log into my.uic.edu (new portal) and click on the XE Registration Icon
13 Click on View Class Scheduler
14 Select a Term and Click Save and Continue
15 Click on +Add Course to start adding courses
16 Select a Course by Subject, Attribute (General Education Courses, & Honors), or Instructor
17 Search By Subject 1. Select the Subject from the dropdown 2. Select the Course from the dropdown
18 Click on +Add Course to add it to the Courses List
19 The course will display in the Courses List. Select Search by Attribute to select General Education or Honors Courses.
20 Search By Attribute 1. Select Attribute 2. Select Subject 3. Select Course Click on +Add Course to Add it to your Courses List
21 Search By Instructor 1. Select the Instructor 2. Select the Course Click on +Add course to add it to the Courses List
22 After adding all of your courses, click on the Done Button (not the browser back button) to return to the main page
23 Any course where some or all of the sections are for Honors College Students are denoted with the red box (Has Honors).
24 Add breaks when you cannot attend class by clicking on the +Add Break button
25 Enter the Break Name; Select the Start and End Times; Select the Days of the Weeks and click +Add Break. Continue adding breaks until you are finished. Click on the back button to return to the main page
26 Click on Generate Schedules to view possible schedules.
27 A number of schedules will appear. To view schedules you can roll over the magnifying glass.
28 Comparing Schedules Compare Schedules by selecting the checkbox and clicking compare. Click on View ( ) to select a schedule.
29 View Schedule The top of the View page shows your schedule. Make sure you choose a schedule that does not have an Honors designation.
30 The middle of the view page has a calendar view of your schedule. You can view section information by clicking on the I icon.
31 Click on the lock icon to lock a particular section to be used in all schedules. Make sure you Generate Schedules again to reflect your change.
32 After finding the perfect schedule, click the Send to Shopping Cart button. You will be taken back to the XE Registration Menu. Warning: You are not registered for classes until you go through the XE Registration process.
33 Click OK to go back to the menu.
34 Click on Register for Classes. Remember, you are not registered for classes until you complete the registration process.
35 Select the Term and click on Continue.
36 Click on Plans
37 Click on Add All to Add your sections to the Summary for the Plan named Schedule Planner Shopping Cart.
38 Click on Submit to register for the sections.
39 You are not registered until the status states Registered. Correct any errors.
