University of Dayton Updated on:
Quick Start Summary Steps Open your web browser and go to porches.dayton.edu. Click on the Faculty tab. Updated on Page 2 of 22
Click on the DegreeWorks link. Login with your 9-digit Banner ID and 6-digit birth date (MMDDYY). Note: This login screen is temporary; you will not have to login here once single signin is set up on or before October 5, Updated on Page 3 of 22
From the Welcome page enter a student ID and press Enter or click on Find. Updated on Page 4 of 22
On the Find Students page, enter a student ID, name, or choose search criteria from the dropdown boxes. When searching by name, you may also use the % wildcard to perform partial-name searches. Updated on Page 5 of 22
For example, click the down arrow on the Degree Codes dropdown box to search for students pursuing a particular degree. Updated on Page 6 of 22
If there are more than 200 students who meet your criteria, you may see the warning message below: Click OK. You may now access the students on the list, though every student in the group may not appear. You may clear your search, refine your criteria, and search again. Updated on Page 7 of 22
Students meeting your selection criteria will be displayed, as shown below. From this list, you may check or uncheck any students you wish to view or not view. Click OK after selecting students. Updated on Page 8 of 22
You may navigate among students by selecting from the Name dropdown box in the Key Block, as shown below. When you click on a student s name, his or her record will appear under the Key Block. The Key Block displays useful information about the student. Note that the last date an audit was performed on this student (Last Audit) is shown as well as the last time the data for this student was refreshed from Banner (Last Refresh). Data is scheduled to be refreshed nightly. Updated on Page 9 of 22
The Student View appears as shown below. The student s data appears in the Student Data Header, under the Key Block. A Legend appears under the Student Data Header. Please refer to this as you view the audit report. To run an audit report, click Run Audit. For students pursuing dual degrees, e.g. a BA and a BS, there will be one audit report for each degree type. Navigate between degrees using the dropdown Degree list. Students pursuing dual majors (e.g., a BA majoring in Religious Studies and Philosophy) will see one audit report containing two major areas (or however many majors the student is pursuing). A student s thematic cluster will appear on the audit report if the proper attribute (for the thematic cluster) has been entered on the student s record in Banner. Minors and concentrations will also display on the audit report if that information is entered into and maintained in Banner. Note: Overall Hours Earned includes transfer, institutional, and registered hours. Updated on Page 10 of 22
The audit report is broken down into sections called Blocks. Each Block begins with a dark blue header. The first Block displayed is the Degree Block. The Degree Block provides a summary of all of the sections or other blocks in the audit. Each Block contains the specific course requirements needed to fulfill that particular section. As a student progresses towards completing requirements, you will see a symbol to the left of the requirements to help you quickly determine which requirements are complete, in progress, or still needed. Updated on Page 11 of 22
Another feature of DegreeWorks is that course requirements are linked to Banner. You can click on a highlighted subject to view additional information about that course. For example, clicking on ANT displays a pop-up window containing additional information on ANT 150 as shown below: Updated on Page 12 of 22
Depending on your user group, you will have various report views available. Click the down arrow on the Format dropdown box to see Report View options. To see a different view select a view from the list and click View. Graduation Checklist provides an at-a-glance listing of degree requirements so you can easily see which requirements have not been met. Registration Checklist provides a summary of course requirements still needed. Updated on Page 13 of 22
The History page on the Worksheets tab allows you to view the last three reports. You may select a report from the dropdown Historic Report list as shown below. Updated on Page 14 of 22
The What If link on the Worksheets tab allows you to work with a student who is considering changing or adding majors, minors, and concentrations, or to see how certain courses may apply to a program. Choose your selection criteria then click Process What If to show the student the academic effects produced by changing his or her academic program. You may also save the report by clicking Save as PDF. Updated on Page 15 of 22
As shown below, Potential Future Courses allows the student to create an audit report showing courses planned for future registration on the current program. There is also a link to the online bulletin to find courses. Updated on Page 16 of 22
The Planner View allows you and the student to create an Education Plan or a map to degree completion. Additionally, consistent use of this tool will be helpful to departments in planning for future courses and sections. DegreeWorks provides a forecasting capability that will allow departments to predict demand for specific courses during specific terms in the future. Consistent use of the Education Plan is essential for this functionality. Updated on Page 17 of 22
The Notes page allows you to view or enter notes about the student. Notes are internal and should not be visible to students. To add a note to a student s record click Add Note. You may choose a predefined note from the dropdown list or start typing in the free-form text window. Click Save Note after you are finished. You may also modify or delete existing notes (Modify Notes, Delete Notes). Updated on Page 18 of 22
DegreeWorks provides a useful tool to help students determine what is needed to achieve their academic goals: the GPA Calculator. There are three options within the GPA Calculator: Graduation Calculator shows what GPA the student needs over remaining courses to achieve a desired final GPA Term Calculator allows the student to enter credit hours and expected grades in current courses, to calculate the potential term GPA Advice Calculator - shows the student what grade distribution he or she needs over remaining courses to bring the GPA up to a desired level. Graduation Calculator: Updated on Page 19 of 22
Term Calculator: Advice Calculator: Updated on Page 20 of 22
From the student data heard you may access HOLD information. If the student you selected has a HOLD on his or her account you will see a message as shown below. Updated on Page 21 of 22
From the Student View you may also access a student s Unofficial Transcript, displayed below. Updated on Page 22 of 22
