2 Our Goal: The current online landscape is a chaotic mix arranged in sites of information and navigated through links of text and images, making our understanding of and relationship to content more complex. Spatial navigation within the physical environment can serve as a model for the design of interaction in the online environment. Kevin Lynch s theory of city imageability is supported by the organizational elements of landmarks, districts, nodes, edges, and paths. These elements construct an underlying structure in any environment that is approached with little difficulty, forming an environment that is legible. A legible environment is one that is made up of parts that are easily recognizable, that has clarity, and can be organized into patterns. In this project we worked collaboratively to explore imageability, spatial relationships, and organization of information in an online environment to inspire through interaction.

3 What We Learned: - How to develop a working knowledge of interactive media and non-linear communication - Gain empathy for the user / participant of interfaces, and to gain a basic knowledge of user research and usability - Develop a foundation of knowledge to effectively design information architecture, navigational structures, and interface designs - To understand the principles of interaction within the context of design - To develop interactive prototypes and animated scenarios

8 Paper Prototype and User Test Paper prototyping is a variation of usability testing where representative users perform realistic tasks by interacting with a paper version of the interface that is manipulated by a person playing computer, who doesn t explain how the interface is intended to work. PaperPrototyping.com POP is a free app for the iphone, ipad and ipod Touch that allows you to convert any sketch into an actual working prototype. Paper prototypes are a design method used to test out the usability of an interactive interface.

9 Paper Prototype and User Test iphone: During this step we developed and plan ned out our scenarios with the use of paper prototypes. We then tested out our possible interactions with a stand-in users that are not in the class.
