Time Series Analysis A new Time Series menu is now available in StatCrunch which covers Trend Analysis, Moving Average, both single and double Exponential Smoothing, Holt - Winters Smoothing, both Autocorrelation and Partial Autocorrelation, Differences, and Lag. April 2018 Release Notes Page 11
Trend Analysis Will fit a linear, quadratic, or exponential model to time series data. Ability to forecast values using the specified model. The statistical output includes the least squares model estimates along with MAPE, MAD, and MSD accuracy measures. By default the Time series plot is included in the output. Other option graphs available are the Residual index plot, the Histogram of residuals, and the QQ plot of residuals. April 2018 Release Notes Page 12
Moving Average (Weighted and Non-Weighted) Choose between a standard Moving Average or the Weighted Moving Average smoothing. Ability to forecast values using the specified model. The statistical output includes the MAPE, MAD, and MSD accuracy measures. By default the Time series plot is included in the output. Other option graphs available are the Residual index plot, the Histogram of residuals, and the QQ plot of residuals. April 2018 Release Notes Page 13
Exponential Smoothing Choose between a Single Exponential Smoothing (with only one weight in model) or Double Exponential Smoothing (two weights in model). Either enter the desired model weights or allow StatCrunch to algorithmically search for the optimal weights that give the lowest sum of squares error. Ability to forecast values using the specified model. The statistical output includes the MAPE, MAD, and MSD accuracy measures. By default the Time series plot is included in the output. Other option graphs available are the Residual index plot, the Histogram of residuals, and the QQ plot of residuals. April 2018 Release Notes Page 14
Holt Winters Smoothing Holt - Winters is also known as Triple Exponential Smoothing with an additional seasonal component to the model. The Multiplicative model type will have the seasonal component multiplied onto the model, whereas the Additive model type has the seasonal component added onto the model. Either enter the desired model weights or allow StatCrunch to algorithmically search for the optimal weights that give the lowest sum of squares error. The Transformation will transform the selected column of data before the model calculations begin. Included is the ability to un-transform the observed values and fits for the graphical results. Ability to forecast values using the specified model. The statistical output includes the MAPE, MAD, and MSD accuracy measures. By default the Time series plot is included in the output. Other option graphs available are the Residual index plot, the Histogram of residuals, and the QQ plot of residuals. April 2018 Release Notes Page 15
Autocorrelation and Partial Autocorrelation Both Autocorrelation and Partial Autocorrelation graphs are included for this new feature. Graphical results include the 95% significance limits. April 2018 Release Notes Page 16
Calculate Differences between Columns Allows for the creation of a new column of data which calculates the differences between values in an existing column based on the specified lags. For example, a lag of 1 will have the 1st value from the original data column in the second row of the new data column. April 2018 Release Notes Page 17
Lag Allows for the creation of a new column of data that is the lagged version of an existing column of data. For example, a lag of 2 will calculate row 3- row 1, row 4 - row 2, row 5 - row 3, etc. April 2018 Release Notes Page 18
