3 What is Wix? Wix is a free website creator that allows you to edit and personalize pages from ready-made templates. You can choose from the many types of templates offered such as business, restaurant, music, and educational templates. The websites do function on mobile devices. 3
4 Creating a Wix Account Open a web browser and type in the navigation bar. Create a free account by clicking Start Now. 4
5 Selecting a Template Once you have created an account and are logged in, you can select a template to begin creating your website. Once you have created your account, a page will open with template options. Select Other to find more specific templates. 5
6 To make a specific type of website, select from the Categories or type within the Search bar (e.g. type science to find a Scientist s Site template). Click on a template to View it and click Edit to use it. 6
7 Managing your Pages Once you have selected a template, the first step is to create your website pages. There are two ways to access the page-editing tool: Accessing the Pages Menu Click Pages: Home the top toolbar menu. OR Click on the Horizontal Page Menu in the center of the page and click Manage Menu. 7
8 Editing your Website Pages Once you have opened the Pages box you can make several changes. Change the Page Order Click and drag any of the Page Boxes to change the order. Edit Existing Pages Click on the circle with the dots and then Page Info to edit existing pages (More information on page 9). Rename, Duplicate, Hide, Or Delete Existing Pages Click on the circle with the dots next to the desired page and click on the desired change. Adding a New Page Add a page by clicking the blue + Add Page button. 8
9 Editing the Existing Pages By having clicked Page Info you have access to the Page Settings. Here you can edit several parts of your page. Page Info Change the title of your page. You can also select to hide a page from the menu. Designate one page as the homepage. Layouts Adjust the Layout of your page on the Layouts Tab. Note: The default Standard Layout is reccomended 9
10 Permissions Edit the Restrictions on your website here. Note: The default No restrictions option is reccomended. SEO (Google) Use the SEO (Google) tab to create search engine keywords, a descriptions, and more. Note: It it not reccommended to add or change anything on this tab. 10
11 Editing the Page Content Toolbar Tools Wix contains a number of tools for easy but extensive editing. The top toolbar shows the Tools you can use. (Note: All of the tools function as a default) To adjust the tools being used click Tools and uncheck or check the desired tools. You can hover your mouse over each tool for a description of it. 11
12 Editing Panel The Editing Panel is a tool to edit text on the website. Hover over a tool for the description of it. Move the Editing Panel This box can be moved anywhere on the screen. Click and hold your mouse over the box and drag it to the desired location. Help For assistance with the Editing Panel click the Question mark symbol on the top left-hand side. Restoring the Edit Panel If the Editing Panel is not open, follow the instructions on the page above, checking the Toolbar box. 12
13 Wix Editor Options The top left-hand side contains several Wix Editor Options. Click the Rectangle Box Icon to edit the background of your website. Color Click this to change the background color. Click Change to view provided Color Palettes. Image Click this to change or add images to your website. You may choose from provided images or upload your images. Video Click this to add videos to your website. Choose from the provided videos or upload your videos. 13

15 Click the Plus Sign Icon to add all content to your website. Options The left-hand column shows all of your content options. Click on one and navigate from the many options. To add something to your website click on it. Help For more information on any of the content you may add, click the? on the top right-hand side. Information will open on the content you had open at the moment (e.g.: if you have Image content open and click the? then information will open about Image content). 15
16 Click the Booth Icon to access any App Market content. You can add comments, Facebook or Instagram feeds, LinkedIn Business Cards, and more. 16
17 Click the Cloud Upload Icon to manage any files you upload. This includes music, documents, images, and more. File Upload Options Click on Images, Single Tracks, or Docs to upload that type of file. Help For uploading assistance click on the? seen on the top right-hand side. 17
18 Saving, Previewing, and Publishing There are 2 options to Save, Preview, or Publish your website. Site Click this to open a box which gives you the option to Save, Preview, or Publish your website. Save, Preview, and Publish Buttons Click any of these options which are located on the top right-hand side of the page. 18
