RESEARCH
Search Engines PubMed hqp:// comprises more than 19 million cita4ons for biomedical ar4cles from MEDLINE and life science journals. Cita4ons may include links to full text ar4cles from PubMed Central or publisher web sites. Create a MyNCBI account to save your searches and create alerts Scirus hqp:// the most comprehensive scien4fic research tool on the web. With over 370 million scien4fic items indexed at last count, it allows researchers to search for not only journal content but also scien4sts' homepages, courseware, pre print server material, patents and ins4tu4onal repository and website informa4on. Google Scholar hqp://scholar.google.com/ Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: ar4cles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional socie4es, online repositories, universi4es and other web sites.
Need to find books or journals locally?
Open Access Journals What is Open Access? According to the Budapest Open Access Ini4a4ve, open access means its free availability on the public internet, permidng any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these ar4cles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to so8ware, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. [Access is] for the scien4fic and scholarly research texts that authors give to publishers and readers without asking for any kind of royalty or payment. As the BOAI public statement puts it, "[p]rimarily, this category encompasses...peer reviewed journal ar4cles, but it also includes any unreviewed preprints hqp:// hqp://
Open Access One thing that needs to be dis4nguished is that there are open access journals and there are freely available ar4cles within non open access journals. The former everything is available The laqer some ar4cles are available These are primarily research ar4cles derived from federal funding You will find both in PubMed Central
Finding Free Full Text Ar4cles Bentham Open Access hqp:// Bioline hqp:// BioMed Central hqp:// Directory of Open Access Journals hqp:// Journals Online Project (some FT available) hqp:// Public Library of Science hqp:// PubMed Central hqp://

The promise of open source is beqer quality, higher reliability, more flexibility, lower cost, and an end to predatory vendor lock in. hqp:// It goes beyond the terms free so8ware or free applica4ons. In order to be Open Source, it has to meet certain criteria. hqp:// Open Source applica4ons are free to use and able to be modified to your needs, if you have the staff or exper4se Free applica4ons, on the other hand, will not allow you to modify them but you ll receive updates
