14 What we have in the College Library? 5 major resources: 1. Book database; English + Thai books (over 7,000 items, search from Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). It is the An-Online Central Catalog of holding of member libraries in the Univ. User-initiated on-line borrowing & renewing themselves. 14
15 Circulation Rules General books + Book Delivery System 10 items / 2 wks for Master degree students 15 items / 2 wks for Doctoral degree students Books renewal can be done 3 times (If there is a reservation, you will not be allowed to renew it) Overdue fines : 3 baht / day Thesis/ Reference Books 1 item / 3 days for both Master & Doctoral degree students Overdue fines : 30 baht / day 15

20 Simple Search The words or phrase that best describe the information you want to find i.e; title, author, keyword, phrases. Title :the title of the article, or book you are looking for e.g. Health measurement Author: use the last name and follow by the first name e.g. Streiner,David L. Keyword: a word/phrase that describes the topic e.g.quality of life, Malaria, Dengue,Diabetes 20
21 Use Boolean operator; Advanced search AND: to find articles with both of two terms together e.g. health education AND secondary school OR: to find articles with one or both terms e.g. health education OR health promotion AND NOT: to find articles which have the first term but not the second term e.g. health education AND NOT health promotion 21
22 Search Tips for Online search Search more than 1 database Study help menu, how to from each database Use "quotation marks" to search for exact phrases E.g. health care reform health services access Use the truncation symbol to find multiple forms of a word. * is used as a right-handed truncation character only; it will find all forms of a word. E.g. searching for econom* will find "economy", "economics", economical", etc.? is used to replace any single character, either inside the word or the right end of the word.. E.g. searching for "wom?n" will find "woman" and "women." 22

28 Open Source on the Net PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 18 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources. WHOLIS is the WHO library database available on the web covering more than 70,000 bibliographic records i.e. books, journals, research reports, proceeding. There are some full-text link provided. 28

Search tools; simple search and advance search Turnitin; to check text that matches other papers or sources (QE Proposal, thesis, dissertation, etc.) EndNote; to manage your citation style for the thesis. Publication (J Health Res); to complete the Master degree (Univ. requires 1 paper published in the Journal. For PhD degree depends on the selected study program: course work (1 Int.
