Alignment Procedure Alignment and Commissioning 6. Click Continue. If the Manual Mode button is not enabled, you may not be connected to the HSU. Connect to the HSU directly using the network icon ( ), and entering the IP address of the HSU. 7. Verify the Band, Frequency, and Channel BW values, then enter the Sector ID of the HBS to which the HSU is connected. 8. Click Continue. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Alignment Procedure Alignment and Commissioning The following screen will appear: 9. Align the HSU with the HBS to the best of your ability (only an approximate alignment is needed at this point). Once this is done, the system will move on to the next screen automatically.» The stage of the alignment procedure is indicated by either Sync, Scan, Point, or Lock being highlighted.» The upper right of screen shows the signal strength icon:.» If you have made a mistake in the procedure, you can restart it by clicking Restart.» If you want to see the data collected up to any given point, click Info and a table similar to the following will appear (click Info again to remove the table): 10. The angle at which the HSU is pointed to the HBS will be the zero angle, and all angles will be measured relative to this. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Alignment Procedure Alignment and Commissioning The following Sync screen will appear: 11. This step involves the HBS transmitting to the HSU. Once you are ready for this, click Start. The first Scan screen will appear: The circle in the middle will become animated and zero in, indicating that the system is trying to get a fix on the signal measurement. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Alignment Procedure Alignment and Commissioning Once a fix on the measurement is achieved, the system will start to evaluate the signal at this angle. This is shown by an animated pie figure filling in the circle: A good measurement is indicated by the pie figure turning grey. Once this happens, a new crosshair will appear, and a new circle will appear to the right of the first one as shown: move crosshair to circle 12. Rotate the HSU in azimuth - the crosshair will move. Keep rotating the HSU until the crosshair enters the black circle. Once again, the black circle will become animated and zero in, and once a fix on this second measurement is achieved, the system will start to evaluate the signal at this angle, shown by an animated pie figure filling in the circle. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Alignment Procedure Alignment and Commissioning This screen shows the second measurement: You can skip any measurement (except the first) by clicking the mouse on the next circle. In this case, the circle will appear grey with an X in it as shown. This screen shows the sixth circle zeroing in while the system gets a fix on its measurement. After the fourth measurement, the WINTouch will start to measure angles on the other side of the zero angle. Here, the user decided to skip the fourth measurement. 13. Repeat this rotate-scan-measure procedure (step 11 to step 12) up to 7 times. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Alignment Procedure Alignment and Commissioning Once the final measurement is completed, WINTouch will show the best angle for alignment using an animated blue circle, as shown in the Point screen: The best angle may not be in a straight line from the HSU to the HBS, due to complicated reflections or other factors. 14. Rotate the HSU in azimuth to this angle until the crosshair overlaps with the animated blue circle. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Alignment Procedure Alignment and Commissioning Once you have rotated the HSU to the correct final angle, WINTouch will show the following Lock screen: 15. Lock the antenna: tighten the screws for the azimuth angle of the HSU (its antenna is integral with the body of the HSU). 16. Click Continue. The following screen will appear: WINTouch will re-evaluate the signal strength at this final azimuth angle. Once this is complete, the following screen will appear: RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Commissioning Alignment and Commissioning 17. Click Complete Alignment. This completes the alignment procedure. The first screen in the Commissioning procedure will then appear, as shown in the Commissioning section below. 6.6 Commissioning Commissioning consists of testing the throughput of the HSU-HBS pair. To carry out commissioning, you must first align the HSU with its HBS (see Alignment Procedure on page 6-2). Once the alignment procedure is completed successfully, and you have clicked Complete Alignment, the following screen will appear:» During the Commissioning procedure, the Commission button on the left part of the screen will become blue. This indicates that you are carrying out Commissioning. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Commissioning Alignment and Commissioning» If you need to go back and carry out Alignment, you can click Antenna Alignment button on the left.» You can change the amount of time the test takes by clicking Define Test Parameters, and choosing the time value. Click Apply Changes to accept the new value: 1. Once you are ready to carrying out the throughput test, click Start Testing. A screen similar to the following will appear: After a few moments, the throughput test screen will appear: RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Commissioning Alignment and Commissioning The system then tests the throughput of the uplink, downlink, and the aggregated throughput, as a result of the specific antenna alignment in place. The blue bar shows how far along on the test the system is, and on the right it shows how much time is left. Our example shows that the test is 69% complete, and there are 3 minutes and 8 seconds left. The throughput values for the uplink, downlink, and aggregated are shown. During the course of the test, these values can change. Red indicator on the aggregated throughput dial shows the aggregated throughput at this moment, while the green area reaches to the maximum value of aggregated throughput. The Frequency bar shows the frequency of transmission between the radios. In our example, this frequency is GHz. Commissioning (throughput test) is now complete. 2. Results are stored in an Excel file in the location:...\my Documents\WINTouch\Install & Commission. Click RESULTS from this screen to browse directly to this location. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release

Chapter 8: 8.1 Chapter Contents This chapter is divided into two sections covering the two phases of Link configuration: 1. Link establishment: Initial setup 2. Link maintenance: Fine tuning and special functions 8.2 Link Establishment Configuring the PtP Link The HBS has two Ethernet ports: One is for the PoE device and the second is a regular LAN port for management. You can either connect directly to the HBS via the LAN port, or connect to the HBS via the NOC, using either the LAN port or the PoE port. At this point, we also switch to PtP terminology, as follows: The HBS is labeled RT-A(HBS) and called the Master ODU. The HSU is labeled RT-B(HSU) and called the Slave ODU. The Link Master ODU requires activation. Activation and Deactivation are effected by clicking a toggle button. Assuming that the ODU intended as the Link Slave ODU is mounted, aligned, and powered up, it will discover the Master ODU and establish a link for management only. At this point the Slave ODU may be managed over the air. To enable traffic between the Master ODU, and the Link Slave ODU must be registered to the Master ODU to enable traffic between them. Following registration, you can set separately: Transmission ratio between uplink and downlink Uplink and downlink Maximum Information Rate (MIR) in Mbps VLAN parameters Quality of service parameters. Do not use ACS prior to antenna alignment. The choice of Tx Power determines the EIRP and is affected by such considerations as radio limitations and regulatory restrictions. When setting Required Tx Power, it is your responsibility to chose a value in compliance with your local regulations. We will set Required Tx Power to 2 dbm for our example. Click Next. 12. The Summary window of the Wizard is displayed. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Aligning the Antennas and Commissioning the Link Check that all information shown is correct and click Activate. After a few moments the Slave ODU will be displayed in the Manager RT-B(HSU) panel as shown in the next figure (Note that RSS Extended View is enabled so that we can see the separate antenna chains): Figure 8-2: Main window: RT-A(HBS) activated, RT-B(HSU) requires alignment 13. If you are using Local Connection, log out and log back in to the RT-A(HBS) on its IP address (currently ) Aligning the Antennas and Commissioning the Link Antenna alignment and commissioning should be carried out by a technician at the RT- B(HSU) site, prior to registration. Should they need to be repeated for a a registered RT- B(HSU), it should be first de-registered. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release

Conversely, Reduced Latency minimizes delay at the expense of lower throughput Ethernet RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Ethernet : Transmission Ratio The Transmission Ratio shows the allocation of throughput between downlink and uplink traffic at the RT-A(HBS). Figure 8-8: RT-A(HBS) Co-located client or independent unit The permissible Transmission Ratio is also dependent on RT-A(HBS) s HSS (collocation) status. (For further details about configuring and using HSS, see Hub Site Synchronization.) If the RT-A(HBS) is an HSS master, you will see something like this: Figure 8-9: RT-A(HBS) Co-located master Moving the slider to the right in stages, yields the following: The effective available range for Asymmetric allocation is determined by channel bandwidth as shown as well as link distance. RADWIN 5000 SCB Jet User Manual Release
Changing the Link Band : Maximum Information Rate You can set separately, the uplink and downlink Maximum Information Rate (MIR) in Mbps or leave it as Unlimited. The MIR acts as a throttle; leaving the uplink or downlink as Unlimited commits the link to operating at best effort Changing the Link Band Changing the Band in use is always carried out at the link level (not per installed ODU), and only in Point-to-Point mode. To change the Link Band you must be logged on to the RT- A(HBS) as Installer. In Installer mode, the Tools drop-down menu has an extra function, Change Band. To change the Link Band: 1. Click Change Band. A list of available Bands is displayed: Figure 8-10: Change Bands 2. Select the required Band and click OK. For our purposes, we choose GHz FCC/IC.
