3 1 Overview 1.1 About Vi Demo Setup Vi Demo Setup is a software package installed on top of Agent Vi analytics solutions enabling you to demonstrate analytics capabilities using video clips instead of IP cameras or encoders. This guide provides you with all necessary installation information. Apart from the source from which video is streamed, the functionality of Vi Demo Setup is similar to that provided in a standard environment containing IP cameras and encoders. Vi Demo Setup supports both Agent Vi analytics solutions: Vi-System Real-Time Detection and Alert Software -AND- Vi-Search Video Search and Analysis Tool 1.2 Operating Systems Supported Vi-System and Vi-Search demos can be performed on: Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit) Windows Server 2008 SP2 or R2 (32 bit and 64 bit) 1.3 Hardware Requirements Intel i3 or Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz PC 2GB RAM 20 GB or free disk space. For Vi-System real-time analytics, a graphic card with at least 128 MB. For Vi-Search, a graphic card compatible with HD hardware acceleration such as Intel GMA 4500 series or any of the NVIDIA and ATI Radeon HD cards. 4 2 Download and Installation Procedure This section shows you how to download and install Vi-System, Vi-Search and Vi Demo Setup. To download: 1. Go to the software download and information link for an evaluation version: 2. Follow the link to the download page for downloading Vi-System, Vi-Search and Vi Demo Setup installers. To install: 1. If you have an existing version of Vi Demo Setup already installed (prior to version 4.2), uninstall it with Windows Add/Remove Programs. 2. Install Vi-System 4.2 following the installer default settings. After installation, restart your PC. 3. Optionally, install Vi-Search 2.1 following the installer default settings. 4. Install Vi Demo Setup version 4.2. After installation, restart your PC. Note When installing Vi-System, Vi-Search and Vi Demo Setup: Use the installer s default settings Do not specify any of the Custom installation options Do not use an external database instance 3 Getting Started This section shows how to activate the Agent Vi analytics software and log in. 3.1 Activating Agent Vi Software 3.2 Login After installing Vi-System, activate Agent Vi software. To activate Vi-System: 1. Open Vi-Config (double-click the desktop icon) and log in using User = Admin and Password = Master (defaults) 2. Follow the popup instruction to generate a Machine ID and then send it to Agent Vi based on the version (evaluation) you require; see link above. 3. After receiving your license file, launch Vi-Config again in order to load your license. See section Activating Agent Vi Software in the Vi-System Administration and Installation Guide v4.2 for detailed information. Four application icons are placed on your desktop after installing Vi-System and Vi-Search: (1) Vi-Config (2) Vi-Setup (3) Vi-Monitor and (4) Vi-Search Run Vi-Config (double-click its icon on the desktop or click Start > All Programs > Agent Vi > Configuration & Analytics > Vi-Config); the Login screen opens. Playing Bundled Real-Timee Analytics Demos This section shows you how to play the demos of the real-time analytics, performed by Vi-System, that are bundled with the product. To play the real-time analytics demos: 1. Double-click the Vi Demo Setup icon on your desktop. Choose a scenario from the dropdown menu and Start Import your own clip, calibrate in VI-Config, define a rule in Vi-Setup and view target detection in real time in Vi-Monitor 2. In Vi Demo Setup Manager that opens, choose from the dropdown menu a Scenario to demonstrate and click Start. 3. View events and tracking of detected targets in Vi-Monitor. 4. 6 5 Demonstrating Real-Time Analytics on Your Own Clips This section shows how to run real-time analytics on your own clips. To run real-time analytics on your own clips: 1. In Vi Demo Setup Manager, click the Import Movie button and navigate to your own clip on which to demonstrate analytics. Note that clips must be DivX compressed avi files. 2. Click Open and in the Scenario Setup dialog that opens, name the clip and click Set. 3. In the Vi-Config network tree, locate the newly added Vi-Agent and camera icons. To verify that it s your clip, right-click the camera icon and choose View Video. a. Right-click the camera icon, choose Properties and configure the environment as Indoor or Outdoor corresponding to the clip. b. Calibrate the camera: Right-click the camera icon and choose Calibrate. For an overhead camera (>80 0 ), check Overhead, leave Length at 1.8 m as is and draw the height of a reference person located at 2-4 depths in the field of view using the Pause button and the Mark object height button, as shown in the figure below. c. In Vi-Setup configure an analytics rule See the Vi-System User s Guide for detailed information on calibrating a camera and configuring an analytics rule on it. 7 6 Demonstrating Search and Analysis Demonstrating Vi-System and Vi-Search This section shows how to demonstrate Vi-Search search and analysis capability. To demonstrate search and analysis: 1. Open Vi-Search and in the application, choose a predefined query from the My Queries menu. 2. Click Search and view the thumbnail results; double-click a thumbnail to play it back. See the Vi-Search User s Guide for detailed information. After choosing the query Prime Suspects (for example) and applying a search, Vi-Search displays the search results as follows: Additional options Modify the search parameters of a selected query and reapply the search. Save the modified query as a new query via the My Queries menu. Import your own clip into the system and test search capabilities on it.
