It s found in the IGSS 9.0 start menu. Upon clicking the module s icon, the module appears on screen as a bar and has the same appearance regardless of which station type is selected on the Station tab in System Configuration. (The default setting here is Single and the other choices are Operator or Server.) The indication lamp symbol to the right in the bar is always red when Manual is chosen as the so-called launch mode. This symbol changes its color to green when the configuration itself is activated by clicking the Start button on the IGSS Starter bar. (Click See Also above for details about what happens when operator station is chosen as station type.) How it looks The figure below shows the IGSS Starter bar that appears after clicking the IGSS Starter icon when initiating a connection to an IGSS server as a Single user or Server station in Manual launch mode. Startup mode On the Data Collection tab in System Configuration, you decide how you want to launch the IGSS Starter by selecting one of the following three options: This option Manual Auto launches the module without activating the PLC drivers, data collection or data reduction. 5 Chapter 1: IGSS Starter (operator station) Introduction The function of the IGSS Starter module is to activate or de-activate a given process control mimic aka a configuration. (Click See Also above for details about what happens when Single user or Server station is chosen as station type.) How it looks The figure below shows the IGSS Starter bar that appears after clicking the IGSS Starter icon when initiating a connection to an IGSS server as an Operator station in Manual launch mode. Startup mode On the Data Collection tab in System Configuration, you decide how you want to launch IGSS Starter by selecting one of the following three options: This option Manual launches the module without activating the PLC drivers, data collection or data reduction. The indication lamp is red because (as in the figure above) nothing has been activated. You must first click the Start button, which then calls up Operator connection options dialogue box from which you choose the IGSS server to connect to. Finally, the Supervise button must be clicked to bring up the process visualisation of the configuration.

This option launches the module Auto and automatically activates the PLC drivers, data collection and data reduction and other modules chosen on the Startup tab in System Configuration. The Operator connect options dialogue immediatetly appears on top of the IGSS Starter bar where you determine to which IGSS server you wish to connect. If the connection is successful, a yellow network symbol appears together with the blinking green lamp. After a few seconds, when the progress bar reaches its limit, you then click the Supervise button to bring up the process visualisation of the configuration. Supervise and automatically activates the PLC drivers, data collection and data reduction. The IGSS Starter bar is briefly seen on screen with all its buttons greyed out while modules are activating and the process visualisation mimic is loaded. The indication lamp is green and blinking, and the progress bar to the right of the lamp is running. Finally, the Supervise message dialogue box appears informing the user that the startup procedure will take a few moments after which the mimic appears and the supervise mode is active. Operator station startup screens When initiating a connection to an IGSS server as an operator station, you will see the following dialogue box after clicking the Start button (in the case of a Manual launch) or after clicking the IGSS Starter icon (in the case of an Auto launch). Here you choose the IGSS server to which you wish to connect. If no other choice is made, a connection will automatically be attempted to the IGSS server shown as default in the drop down box.

The first check box below the Connect to server group, Start as single user backup system, is greyed out until the Auto start as single backup server check box on the Server & Backup tab in System Configuration is selected. The next check box, Don t show this dialog again, is activated immediately after selection and can be made to reappear by holding the Shift key on the keyboard down when clicking on the IGSS Starter. After successfully connecting to the IGSS server, the process of downloading the configuration from the server to the operator station s hard disk is initiated by the appearance of the following Windows progress bar. Access control You can password-protect the Start IGSS and Stop IGSS commands in the User Administration module. Users who are permitted to start and stop the configuration must be members of a user group that have the global right Can use system commands. Refer to the Help function in User Administration for further information. The right click menu in the IGSS Starter bar After activating the IGSS Starter, the starter bar appears as a kind of banner at the top edge of the screen. This is the bar s default setting, which can be altered by right clicking anywhere on its blue background to call up the menu. 9 Chapter 2: Reference and Lookup 2.1 Conventions in this Manual The following typographical conventions are used: Convention Description Example User interface element User input Module name When referring to labels and names in the user interface. When the user has to type specific data in IGSS. When referring to a module in IGSS The Data Management tab. Type the following description: Incoming flow in Tank 2 Open the Definition module. Note A note emphasizes or supplements important points of the main text. A note provides information that may apply only in special cases. By default, the timestamp is in universal time format, UTC 1. This can be changed in the Driver Log Filters dialog box. Tip A tip suggests alternative methods that may not be obvious in the user interface. A tip also helps the user in working more effectively with IGSS. A tip is not essential to the basic understanding of the text. Alternative to this simple find function, you can also filter on text in the messages in Driver Log Filters dialog box. Warning A warning is an important note that is essential for the completion of a task. In some cases, disregarding a warning may result in undesirable functionality or loss of data. If you disregard the System alarm, you may risk loss of data in the LOG and BCL files. 1 Universal Time Coordinated (formerly Greenwich Mean Time), used as the basis for calculating time in most parts of the world. IGSS uses this time format internally in the database. You can switch between UTC and local time by enabling or disabling the "UTC" field in various dialog boxes in the system.

2.2 Version Information (IGSS Help System) 7-Technologies A/S, IGSS Version 9.0 The IGSS help files are based on software build number 10xxx (initial release) English help files To update the help files, you must activate the IGSS Update module in the IGSS Start menu. There must be a connection from the PC to the Internet. Every time IGSS Update is run, IGSS help files as well as IGSS system files will automatically be updated on the PC from the 7-Technologies web server. You select the languages you want to update in the Tools menu of the IGSS Update module. If you are not able to update the IGSS system directly via the Internet, the alternative is to download the updates from the 7-Technologies website as zip files. These can then be transferred onto a CD or USB memory stick, which is then the medium used to update on site. An example: After running IGSS Update, the build numbers in various IGSS modules may change to a higher number. This signifies that the module in question has been updated with newer files. Build numbers consist of four digits, where the first digit represents the year and the last three represent the day number in the year in question. The build number can be seen in the About dialog box which can be activated from the Help menu. Build number = 10xxx 10 = the year = The 210 th day of the year 2.3 Getting Help in IGSS IGSS comes with a comprehensive help system designed to help both system designers and operators to get started with IGSS as quickly as possible. Documentation overview The IGSS documentation includes the following items:

Documentation item Getting Started Module help Description An introduction to IGSS and its most fundamental terms and features. Getting Started is intended to get you up and running as fast as possible. The manual provides a system and architecture overview followed by a number of real-life use cases you can go through before building your first real IGSS project. The manual is available in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf). For each module there is a help file with the same name as the module itself, for example, Igss.chm for the Master module, Igss.exe. The help file is invoked by clicking the in the upper right corner of the module. The Table of Contents will then allow you to browse through the topics. For each dialog box there is a help topic with the following standard information: Overview Dialog box help Preconditions Where do I find it? Field help Dialog box help is invoked by clicking the help button upper right hand corner of the dialog box. in the Thematic help IGSS also provides thematic help. When there is a special theme that requires special attention from the user, a dedicated help file is provided. Examples include "Driver-Specific Help" and "Database Administration Help". Where are the help files located? The IGSS help files are located in the appropriate language folder under the [IGSS InstallPath]. The help files are available in English at release time. The paths to the help files are: Language Path English Danish German [IGSS InstallPath]\ENG [IGSS InstallPath]\DAN [IGSS InstallPath]\DEU

Translated help files Selected help files have been translated into Danish and German. If you require help files in your language, please contact 7T. Help updates The IGSS help files are continuously updated and improved. Check regularly with the IGSS Update module in the IGSS Start menu.
