Now select the SNMP Config if you have purchased the SNMP option and the form will appear as follows. 75. On this tab you should enter an individuals name for a system contact when a trap comes in. 76. Also enter an SNMP name for this system. This could be the same as the Device Name on the Device Config tab but does not have to be. 77. Additionally, enter a System Location. This could be the same as the Hub name on the Device Config tab but does not have to be. 78. The SNMP info can be alternatively obtained by pressing the Retrieve SNMP info from file button. 79. Finally, you must select whether this device will act as an SNMP Master unit or an SNMP Slave unit relative to SNMP Gets and Sets from the MIB. 80. For SSTs that will have their own IP on the corporate LAN rather than being hidden behind a router for IP conservation, select Master SST and do not enter any slaves in the Slave IP List. 81. For SSTs hidden behind a router in an IP conservation scheme using individual TCP ports for addressing, one of those SSTs must be the SNMP master and all of the others for that single IP will be the Slaves. 82. For the SST configured as the SNMP master with slaves, there can be up to 15 slaves added to its slave list. 83. For the slave SSTs behind this IP up to 15 may be pointed to the Master IP, but the Master must have those units in its slave list. 84. For a Master unit the form appears as above, but for a slave the form appears as below. TRILITHIC SST Configure Reference Manual 31

32 85. Once the data has been entered into this form you have completed the data entry portion of this configuration, and now you will want to send it to the SST using the same method described in the previous section. 32 TRILITHIC SST Configure Reference Manual

33 Remote Operation Remote operation is the intended usage of this software and most likely will only be useful to a system administrator or high end user making system level decisions. Direct connection should only be necessary during initial installation of the 9581SST R4 or during reconfiguration of any routers in the connectivity path. The most efficient method of installation would be for IT personnel to modify any necessary router settings, then the system installer could direct connect long enough to establish IT connectivity using the IP Config and Link Freqs tabs only, followed by a more in depth setup being applied remotely to finish the installation. For further assistance contact Trilithic Inc. technical support personnel. TRILITHIC SST Configure Reference Manual 33
