This includes the setting up of Qtime and clocks, post DLS fixes, ie., all things to do with setting the time. changeover happens twice every year, and may potentially present a source of annoyance for you if the transition does not go smoothly. This is intended to help iron out some of those bumps. Please print it out and keep as a resource for future DLS chang-overs. Setting DLS Changeover Dates Certain time clocks have this feature, while others do not! 2 Issue #4 Page #2 Setting DLS using MTXCOM (Amano MTX clocks) MTXCOM uses the P.C. s time when setting the clocks. If you are setting a clock in S.A. from another state then you will have to put the S.A. time in your P.C. and then revert to normal time after sending. This is because MTXCOM does not cater for 30 minute time zones. 2. Start MTXCOM. On most P.C s click set clocks and then select the first clock group (top button). The grey MTXCOM screen should appear. There are two versions of MTXCOM 3. If you have V1.3...click on Terminal.exe > If you have V1.6...click on Terminal Setup > 4. Select the correct location and then highlight the terminal in the terminal list, and then click the Set Time button.. < V1.3 V1.6 > 5. Now comes the trickiest part. V1.3...just set the dates, tick the DLS Time box, and click Download. V1.6...If you tick the s Time box the dates will always revert to USA dates! You MUST set both dates to the correct values for your state. Once set then click Download and the displayed dates and time will be sent to the clock. Note: if you re-enter this screen the dates will have reverted back to USA dates!! MTXCOM does not save the correct dates. Quite a few Qtime users make the mistake of not setting both DLS dates and this causes unexpected results.

3 Issue #4 Page #3 Set the Time using Qhand (HandPunch Biometric clocks) Qhand uses the P.C. for the initial value when setting the clocks. There is provision to override this but best practice is to set the P.C. time. 2. Start Qhand. On most P.C s click set clocks and then select the first clock group (top button). The grey Qhand screen should appear. 3. In Qhand click SETUP and then SET TIME. > 4. Now click on the clock to set. 5. When the clock is found the time set window appears Simply click set to use the P.C. time or manually change the times and then click set. Setting DLS using Qhand (HandPunch Biometric clocks) 1. Start Qhand. 2. In Qhand click SETUP and then CONFIGURE. 3. Now click on the clock to configure. 4. When the clock is found the configure window appears 5. Click GET to get the clock configuration 6. When the clock configuration values change then... Select the DLS dates using the pulldown lists and then click the date... If your version does not have pulldown lists double click in each field and set the correct values. Note: You do not need to set both start and end dates as long as the unset date has no values displayed (ie., it s blank) 7. Finally click SET to send the clock configuration

4 Issue #4 Page #4 Set the Time using Qcomm (Amano AMX clocks) Qcomm uses the P.C. for the initial value when setting the clocks. There is provision to override this but best practice is to set the P.C. time. 2. Start Qcomm. On most P.C s click set clocks and then select the first clock group (top button). The green Qcomm screen should appear. 3. In Qhand click SET TIME. 4. Now click on the clock to set. Note: There is no DLS Setting for AMX clocks. (See page 5 for instructions on handling DLS change-over) Set the Time using ZDTU (ASP Zipnet clocks) ZDTU = Zipnet Data Tag Utilities ZDTU uses the P.C. for the initial value when setting the clocks. There is provision to override this but best practice is to set the P.C. time. 2. Insert the Time Setting Tag into the Zipnet Homebase. The time from the P.C. is used to set the Time Tag. 3. Now physically go to the Zipnet and hold the Time Tag to the unit s front reading pins. The clock should display the work SET once the time value is read. Note: There is no DLS Setting for Zipnet clocks. (See page 5 for instructions on handling DLS change-over)

5 For clocks that do not have scheduled DLS changeover, or when scheduled changeover does not perform correctly Qtime has functionality that makes the adjustment of times much easier. Follow this four step procedure post DLS changover: STEP #1 Check and set the correct time and date on your PC. STEP #2 Poll and process all clocks that have the incorrect time on them. STEP #3 Set the time on the clocks to the correct date and time. STEP #4 Perform the DLS FIX function described below DLS FIX Function This function is used to change all transaction for a given day. Typically on a Monday all times would be out by 1 or 2 hours. In Qtime click UTILITIES and then DLS FIX. Click the ADD or SUBTRACT buttons according to the issue. Click the AMOUNT button to set the correct hours. Select the date, usually the Monday after DLS. Now select STATE and then PROCEED. Issue #4 Page #5 QRIUS! They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. Andy Warhol Note: Each state must be processed separately. If work is performed on a Sunday then this can be DLS Fixed also, but you may need to do a recalculation of times. Recalculation is performed by over-typing the first transaction for a given date.
