7 Instructions for Using Flextps The Flextps is used to view the video feed and control the cameras. The public feeds do not require a login and only allow the video feed to be viewed. The private feeds require a login and allow the cameras to be controlled (pan, zoom, tilt, frame rate) in addition to the video feed. The following procedure describes how to access the public and private feeds. 4. Open Mozilla Foxfire web browser and go to (Mozilla can be downloaded for free at: 5. For the Public Feed, click on Local Video Click on Highbay 1 for Camera 1 or Highbay 2 for Camera For the Private Feed, type in the login and password ( civil and caverm09 ). Don t share this password with non-umr people because then they could move the cameras during the test! 6.1. Click on Highbay 1 for Camera 1 or Highbay 2 for Camera 2. Instructions for Using RDV The RDV (Remote Data Viewer) is used to view the data and video feeds. 1. The first time RDV is run, the JRE Java Runtime Environment will need to be installed. After JRE 1.5 is installed the first time, this Step 1 can be skipped Visit the site: java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp Click on Download JRE 5.0 Update Click on accept license agreement Click on Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language (the 16.0 MB version) and run the setup program. 2. Open Mozilla Foxfire web browser and go to 3. If this is the first time RDV has been used, or a new version has been released, click on Download RDV Click on Launch RDV 1.2 which will bring up an RDV window after a minute or two. 5. Click File, then Connect, and then type neespop.umr.edu next to host and 3333 next to port. This will bring up multiple data sources in the left-hand column under the heading Channels. The current data from the cameras and bluebox (DAQ) will be listed under cam1_mxx, cam2_mxx, and bluebox_mxx where the MXX is the specimen name (e.g. M07). You can either select your own grouping of data (custom setup) or open a pre-made setup created to view key channels. Custom Setup 5.1. To view the video feed from camera 1, click on cam1_mxx and then doubleclick on video.jpg. 12/5/ of 9

9 Procedure for Converting RBNB Data to JPG Image Files The following instructions describe the procedure to send data to the RDV (Remote Data Viewer). 1. Run the script to convert the rbnb data images to picture picture files (jpg) 1.1. The JpgSaverSink script has several parameters: Start time, given in the format YYYY-MM-DD:hh:mm:ss.sss (where YYYY is the year, MM is the two digit month, DD is the two digit day, hh is the two digit hour, mm is the two digit minute, and ss.sss is the two digit seconds to three decimal places). Given after S switch End time, given in same format as start time. Given after E switch Name of file image data was saved under in the /nees.rbnb/v2.5/ directory. Given after n switch Destination directory for the jpg files. Given after d 1.2. For example, type: java org.nees.rbnb.jpgsaversink S :16:00: E :16: n cam1_m06 d /nees/video/gary to write convert five minutes worth of files from Specimen M06. The output for this script is shown in Fig. 7. Fig The jpg files are still on the server. To copy the files off of your computer, use a program like WinSCP. 12/5/ of 9
10 1. Camera Functionality Check Follow the steps in Camera Setup. Follow the NEESPoP Server Setup and give the camera feed name. Check the video feed from flextps server, for this follow the Instructions for using flextps. In Putty go to cd etc/init.d directory and give the command ps -ef and check the camera functionality. Check the camera feed in RDV; for this follow the Instructions for Using RDV. It is better to watch the camera feed video for every four hours in RDV and check the time stampings on pictures. After completion of each days work stop the camera feed to the server by following the commands in NEESPoP Server Setup. Before starting the experiment start the camera by following the commands in NEESPoP Server Setup and check the camera functionality in Putty and RDV. Open the WinSCP-Secure ftp Clint and go to folder nees/rbnb/v2.5 and watch the size of folder and number of folders. For correct functionality after new start of camera, data should be saved in a new folder. All the above procedure is valid for checking Blue box data.
