3 Introduction This Job Aid describes the upgrade procedure for Distributed Office release 1.2.x to Communication Manager Branch release 2.0. Important:! Important: You must upgrade from Distributed Office release 1.1.x. to release 1.2 before you can upgrade to release 2.0. See Avaya Distributed Office Release 1.1.x Job Aid: Upgrading to Release 1.2, ! Do not disconnect the system from the main power supply or reboot it until the upgrade is complete. Tip:! The upgrade procedure is service-disrupting. Save any configuration information you wish to keep before upgrading by clicking Save Configuration. Perform a full backup before upgrading in case you need to restore the previous firmware and configuration. Refer to the Branch Device Manager on-line help. If you want to upgrade a profile based on release 1.2.x to one based on release 2.0, download the profile to the Distributed Office before performing the procedure described in this document. The profile Assistant pages are not copied during the upgrade. You will need to recreate the Assistant pages after the upgrade. 4 From release 2.0, Distributed Office is called Communication Manager Branch. See Table 1 for a list of the new names. Table 1: Naming Old name Distributed Office Distributed Office Local Manager (DOLM) Distributed Office Central Manager (DOCM) New name Communication Manager Branch Branch Device Manager Branch Central Manager Prerequisites Verify the following before starting the upgrade procedure: The firmware versions are: - i40 or i120 version 1.2.1_02.0, 1.2.1_02.01, or 1.2.1_02.01-SP Log in to Distributed Office Local Manager. 2. Open the Maintenance & Monitoring > System Summary page. 3. Check the version shown in the Firmware field for the i40 or i Job Aid: Upgrading to Communication Manager Branch 2.0 May 2009
5 What you need to download What you need to download In order to save time, it is recommended to download all the software and firmware you need before beginning the upgrade process. The software and firmware downloads you need will depend on the version which you are upgrading from. You will also need to download new Language Packs. Refer to the following table for further information. If you are upgrading from version... You need to download _ _ _02.01-SP Upgrade pack to version 2.0 for the i40 or i120 System Language Packs for Communication Manager Branch You can install up to two System Language packs.! Ensure you download the appropriate upgrade for the Distributed Office model you are upgrading - i40 or i120. The file name of the upgrade pack is in the form CMBE_i40_2.0.0_xx.yy.bin and CMBE_i_i120_2.0.0_xx.yy.bin. Ensure you download the System Language Packs for Communication Manager Branch 2.0. To download the firmware and software: 1. Go to support.avaya.com/download 2. Click Download My Software 3. Log in using your Avaya SSO credentials. 4. Select Communication Manager Branch from the Alphabetical list. 5. Locate the appropriate firmware or software according to the table above. 6. Follow the instructions on the Web page. 6 Upgrade Process Refer to the following table for the steps you need to perform: i40 or i120 version 1.2.0_ _ _02.01-SP Required Steps 1. Upgrading to Release Downloading language packs Upgrading to Release 2.0 Tip: 1. Open Branch Device Manager. 2. Click Device under Maintenance and Monitoring > Firmware Management. 3. Open the Image Download Process tab. 4. Select i40 image or 120 image in the Image Type selection box. 5. Select the method you want to use - File, FTP, or SCP - in the Download method selection box. 6. Complete the fields on the screen. See the on-line help for information on the fields. 7. Click Start. 8. Once the download has completed successfully, the Last Download Status should be "Idle". Tip: Status messages for each stage of the download are displayed in Branch Device Manager. 9. Open the Maintenance and Monitoring > Reboot page. 10. Select Copy configuration from active bank to inactive bank, swap bank and warm reboot. 11. Click Start. - The upgrade starts.! The upgrade process can take up to one hour. Do not disconnect the system from the main power supply or reboot it until the upgrade is complete. 6 Job Aid: Upgrading to Communication Manager Branch 2.0 May 2009
7 Post-Upgrade - When the upgrade is complete, the Communication Manager Branch (Distributed Office) will reboot and the Branch Device Manager login screen is displayed. 12. Perform basic checks such as: - Verifying the system is running version Making calls - Seeing that there are no alarms to ensure that the upgrade was successful. Downloading language packs 1. Open Distributed Office Local Manager. 2. Click Telephony under Maintenance and Monitoring. 3. Click Voice Mail & Automated Attendant. 4. Click System Language Files. Note which language is in which bank to ensure you download the language file to the correct bank. 5. Open the Download Process tab. 6. Select the Destination Static Language, the appropriate bank (A or B) and the download method. 7. Select File in the Download method selection box Under the Image Type selection box. 8. Browse the location where you downloaded the language pack file in What you need to download. 9. Click Start. 10. Once the download has completed successfully, the Last Download Status should be "Idle" and the Current Information tab reopens. Post-Upgrade If you want to generate the updated profile based on Communication Manager Branch release 2.0: 1. Recreate the Assistants. 2. 8 To access Branch Device Manager, connect to the appropriate port on the Distributed Office: - i40: Ethernet WAN/Services (on the i140-a14) or ETH WAN (on other i40 models) - i120: Ethernet WAN After reboot, the Communication Manager Branch will use a different MAC address. The ARP cache on other network devices may not be updated. If you cannot establish a network connection to the Communication Manager Branch after the reboot, flush the ARP cache of the PC that is connected to Communication Manager Branch on the ETH SERVICES/WAN or ETH WAN port as follows: 1. Open the Start menu in Windows. 2. Click Run. 3. Type cmd in the field. 4. Click OK. 5. The Command Prompt window opens. 6. Type arp d at the command prompt. 7. Press the Enter key. The upgrade package updates the firmware in one of the banks. If you want to upgrade the other bank, you should download the standard firmware package from the Avaya Support Site. - If you upgrade the second bank, you will not be able to roll back to R1.2. Rolling Back If you want to roll back to R1.2 for any reason: You must access Branch Local Manager through Communication Manager Branch, not the AM110: - i40: Ethernet WAN/Services (on the i140-a14) or ETH WAN (on other i40 models) - i120: Ethernet WAN 1. Open the Maintenance and Monitoring > Reboot page. 2. Choose the Change boot bank and warm reboot option. 3. Click Start. 8 Job Aid: Upgrading to Communication Manager Branch 2.0 May 2009
