Ontrack PowerControls in Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2 can only be run by users with administrative privileges and in administrative mode. The operating systems listed are required to have the latest service packs installed. The HASP HL override key functionality does not work on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012 operating systems when using a remote desktop connection to the computer Kroll Ontrack Inc 3

5 Component Microsoft Office SharePoint Server/Microsoft SQL Server - continued Requirement Note: Ontrack PowerControls can open Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, 2010, and 2013 sources. Ontrack PowerControls can connect to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, 2010, and 2013 targets. Ontrack PowerControls can copy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 data to a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, 2010, or 2013 system with the 2010 Experience. Ontrack PowerControls can copy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 data to a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 system, or to a SharePoint 2013 system with the 2010 Experience. Items and Folders only are supported when copying SharePoint 2010 data to SharePoint 2013 system with the 2013 Experience. Copying lists, sites, and site collections are not supported. Ontrack PowerControls can copy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2013 (2013 Experience) data to a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2013 with the 2013 Experience only. Items and Folders only are supported when copying SharePoint 2013 (2010 Experience) data to SharePoint 2013 system with the 2013 Experience. Copying lists, sites, and site collections are not supported. Ontrack PowerControls cannot copy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server source data to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server targets running an older Microsoft Office SharePoint Server version or experience. Additional Software Use of third-party software might be a prerequisite for functionality of this Product. You shall be responsible for obtaining proper licenses for all thirdparty software. If using Agent for Metalogix StoragePoint, Metalogix StoragePoint v or higher is required. Microsoft.NET Framework Universal Serial Bus (USB) Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0. System must have both.net Framework 3.5 SP1 and 4.0 installed in order to function. USB port (for Ontrack PowerControls product licenses requiring HASP key dongle to run application). Note: HASP key operation is validated in environments that support USB attached devices and support the Kroll Ontrack distributed HASP drivers only Kroll Ontrack Inc 5

6 Component High-speed TCP/IP LAN network connection Requirement Minimum of 100 Mbps recommended. Installing Ontrack PowerControls Follow these steps to install Ontrack PowerControls. 1. Turn off any disk utility or antivirus program running in the background. 2. Insert the Ontrack PowerControls CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. 3. The installation program automatically starts. If it does not, do the following: Press the Windows button + R. In the Run dialog box, type D:\autorun.exe or D:\bin\setup.exe, where D is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive. Click OK. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions. Uninstalling Ontrack PowerControls You can uninstall Ontrack PowerControls by using the Add/Remove Programs utility of your Windows operating system. Upgrading Ontrack PowerControls If Ontrack PowerControls 7.1 or earlier is installed, is active, and you are upgrading to Ontrack PowerControls 7.2, you cannot reuse the existing Ontrack PowerControls license file with Ontrack PowerControls 7.2. Upgrading Ontrack PowerControls when KOAS is Required If the Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server is required either through the use of the Agent for Administrative Services or for the Central Licensing Service (CLS), before upgrading Ontrack PowerControls, it is necessary to first upgrade your KOAS server and optionally configure CLS to use your new Ontrack PowerControls CLS license. Please see the KOAS user documentation for details on how to perform an upgrade installation. To upgrade site installations requiring KOAS when CLS is in use 1. Close all Ontrack PowerControls clients. 2. Upgrade the previous version of Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server to Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server Start the Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server management console to verify Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server has upgraded Kroll Ontrack Inc 6

7 4. Using the KOAS CLS plug-in, in the License File tab, configure Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server CLS to use the Ontrack PowerControls CLS license file provided with the delivery of Ontrack PowerControls 7.2 and Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server Follow the instructions and restart Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server to ensure that CLS is running properly. If the wrong CLS license file is configured, an error displays in the CLS status displays. 6. Upgrade the previous version of Ontrack PowerControls to Ontrack PowerControls 7.2. Note: Previous Ontrack PowerControls installations must be upgraded to Ontrack PowerControls 7.2 before they can be run. To upgrade site installations requiring Ontrack PowerControls when CLS is not in use 1. Close all Ontrack PowerControls clients. 2. Upgrade the previous version of Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server to Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server Start the Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server management console to verify Kroll Ontrack Administrative Server has upgraded. 4. Use existing Ontrack PowerControls installation. Note: Previous Ontrack PowerControls installations can be upgraded to Ontrack PowerControls 7.2 as required. Installing Ontrack PowerControls Agent for Content Transfer Service To restore content using Ontrack PowerControls 7.2 for SharePoint, you must first install the Ontrack PowerControls Agent for Content Transfer service on each Microsoft SharePoint Server you intend to use as a target. Prerequisites Microsoft.NET 3.5 Framework on the Microsoft SharePoint server Microsoft.NET 4.0 Framework on the Microsoft SharePoint Server (Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 only) Administrative privileges SharePoint Farm Administrator credentials To install Ontrack PowerControls Agent for Content Transfer Service 1. Log onto the Microsoft SharePoint server using Administrative privileges. 2. Run the Ontrack PowerControls Agent for Content Transfer Service installation wizard, SetupACTS.exe. In the electronic package, the file is located at the root level of the extracted files Kroll Ontrack Inc 7

8 On the CD, the file is located at bin\setupacts.exe. If autoplay is enabled and the installation program automatically starts, click Install Ontrack PowerControls Agent for Content Transfer Service. 3. On the Welcome page, click Next. 4. On the License Agreement page, review the EULA and if you agree to the terms of the agreement and would like to continue, click Yes. 5. On the Customer Information page, enter the computer s registered user and company name. 6. Click Next. 7. On the Choose Destination Location page, do one of the following: In the Destination Folder field, view the location to install the setup files and click Next. Click Browse, select a new location, and click Next. 8. On the Logon Information page, enter the User Name and Password for the SharePoint Farm Administrator User who will run the Agent for Content Transfer Service. The User Name should be in the format DOMAIN\Username. 9. Click Next. 10. On the Agent for Content Service Setting page, enter the following: In the Port Number field, use the default value or enter a different available port number. Important: In order to ensure correct operation of the Agent for Content Transfer Service and any Ontrack PowerControls clients, firewall solutions must be configured to allow communication on the TCP port that Agent for Content Service Transfer is configured to use. In the Temporary File Location, use the default path or click Browse to change. Note: This path is used as a temporary location for content during the copy process. Ensure that there is sufficient space for this task, possibly up to the amount of data being restored in a single operation. 11. Click Next. 12. When the InstallShield Wizard Complete page appears, click Finish. For further information about operating the Agent for Content Transfer Service, please refer to the Ontrack PowerControls User Guide. Upgrading Ontrack PowerControls for the Agent for Content Transfer Service When upgrading an environment from Ontrack PowerControls through 7.2, you should upgrade the Agent for Content Transfer service on all Microsoft Office SharePoint servers in your environment before upgrading Ontrack PowerControls Kroll Ontrack Inc 8

9 The new version of ACTS is backwards compatible with Ontrack PowerControls through 7.2. By upgrading the Agent for Content Transfer service first, the existing installations of Ontrack PowerControls will still be able to connect and copy to the Microsoft Office SharePoint servers. Ontrack PowerControls Licensing Ontrack PowerControls software editions are licensed based on the number of configured SharePoint databases in your environment. The license is used for a customized number of databases for a specified period of time. Ontrack PowerControls also offers a free edition with limited functionality. With this edition, you can search a SharePoint database as a source, and view items. Ontrack Power- Controls Edition Ontrack Power- Controls Feature Agents Feature Ontrack PowerControls 7.2 Subscription enforcement For Direct Method: ExtractWizard Agent included and partially enabled. For Advanced Method: ExtractWizard Agent is not included and is disabled. Agent for Advanced Searching for SharePoint (priced separately) Agent for Native SharePoint Backups Ontrack PowerControls 7.2 Free All features included and partially enabled (open any MDF file, view all content, search one source, copy none) For Direct Method: ExtractWizard Agent included and partially enabled. For Advanced Method: ExtractWizard Agent is not included and is disabled. Technical Note: Ontrack PowerControls does not open more databases than originally licensed for. Enabling the Licensed Agents Each edition of Ontrack PowerControls is distributed with the following Ontrack PowerControls Agents. The Agents are disabled by default and require a new license file to be enabled Kroll Ontrack Inc 9

In addition to the above Ontrack PowerControls Agents, you also have the option to purchase the following unique add-on features: Ontrack PowerControls Agent Agent for Advanced Searching for SharePoint Agent for use with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Agent for Metalogix StoragePoint Agent for StorSimple Database Optimizer To view the currently enabled Agents On the Help menu, click About and then click License Info. To enable an Agent 1. Contact a sales representative and specify which agent you want to purchase. A license file containing the newly enabled agent will be sent to you. 2. Replace the existing.ini file with the new.ini file. The default location for this file is in the Ontrack PowerControls directory. The License File All Ontrack PowerControls editions for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server require a license file. The purpose of this file is to let you enable only the agents you need. Before Ontrack PowerControls is enabled, it checks the.ini file for these things: The license file must be valid for Ontrack PowerControls 7.2. Database enforcement, if applicable Kroll Ontrack Inc 10

11 Subscription length, if applicable. Terabyte enforcement, if applicable. Enabled agents. Known Issues After restoring content from a source location, it is recommended that you use the Copy Progress dialog box to verify the links, security settings, and Web Parts on the target server. Ontrack PowerControls does not support the following Microsoft SharePoint 2013 site collection templates: ediscovery Case Site Template Developer Site Template Project Site Template Community Site Template Community Portal Template Product Catalog Template When copying a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site Collection with the Enterprise Search Center, Enterprise Wiki, Business Intelligence Center, or Publishing Portal site collection templates to a new site collection, the site displays an error in the web page after the copy is completed. When copying a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site or Site Collection with the Project Functionality feature, the feature is not enabled on the target. When copying a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site or Site Collection with the Site Notebook feature, the feature is not enabled on the target. When copying a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 blog site to the target, the posts list may switch from like ratings to star ratings. When copying a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site or Site Collection with the BICenterSampleData hidden feature, the feature is not enabled on the target. When copying a Microsoft SharePoint Site or Site Collection with the GBWProvision hidden feature, the feature is not enabled on the target. When copying a site collection with the community feature enabled as the SharePoint farm account, an extra System Account user may appear in the Community Members list. To correct, edit the list and remove the extra entry. When copying a site or site collection, any inactive users become active users in the target. When copying Tasks with multiple versions, the Predecessors property displayed in the version history may be incorrect. When copying an Image list, picture thumbnails are not displayed Kroll Ontrack Inc 11

12 When copying a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site with a 2010 Experience to a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site with a 2013 Experience, the resulting Site on the target Server displays errors. Upgrading the 2010 Experience Site on the Source to a 2013 Experience before attempting the copy to the 2013 Experience target avoids the errors. Copying from a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site with a 2010 Experience source to a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Site with a 2010 Experience target, and then upgrading the target to a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Experience also avoids the errors. When the Record Center feature is on, thumbnails for some copied items may not be displayed. The Attachment icon is not displayed for the default view when copying a project tasks item or list.
