2 A Brief History: First Federated Church Stained Glass Window Sale First Federated Church was formed and chartered in As the church continued to grow and prosper the need for a bigger sanctuary became evident so in 1929 plans were drawn up for a new building to be built in the Romanesque style, (noted for its vaulted ceilings and arched windows). Original plans did not call for stained glass to be installed, but when specially designated funds came in, the beautiful windows were in place when the new sanctuary was dedicated in The windows were designed, and installed by Mr. Paul Wolff, a German immigrant who owned the St. Joseph Art Glass Company, located in St. Joseph, Missouri. With the purchase of new property, the First Federated congregation left the facility at Beaver and Adams and moved to its current location at 48 th and Franklin in A fire at the old church in 1983 rendered the building uninhabitable and the windows not destroyed as a result of the fire were dismantled and removed in wooden crates and placed into storage. A newly built auditorium at 48 th and Franklin in 1986 resulted in several of the salvaged windows being restored and placed in the foyer and upper balcony walls for display. The remaining windows stayed in storage. Notes: In looking at the stained windows, they appear to be in very good condition. As the widows were taken down, a detailed inventory was kept as well as a map that allows us to determine the exact window location in the old church that the crated window came from. To the men who had the foresight to do this I thankyou. These stained glass windows were designed and made in such a way that to look at them, they appear dark, and dull, covered with an opaque paint. It is only as light shines through the window does their true beauty become apparent. When these windows were made, their creator, Mr. Paul Wolff gave as a gift to the church, two medallions of glass, incorporated into the windows. The medallions were procured from a dismantled Anglican church in England. They are very old and valuable. These medallion windows are still in storage. Dimensions may not exact, and are not guaranteed.

3 Notes about the Sale: Each window will be sold as is, with no guarantee or warranty. While the condition of the window may be listed as good it should be understood that these windows are old and delicate and fragile, and utmost care should be used in the transportation and care of these windows. Refunds will not be given. Most windows have been crated separately in their own box. However, in some cases, multiple windows have been packed into one crate. After the sale is completed, assistance will be offered in the packaging of a window to insure safe transportation. The windows are listed in the catalog by crate number and window number. The window number can be used to determine its original location at the church at Beaver and Adams. A window map is included with this information to assist in determining the location. Some windows have been listed as Reserved. These widows have been set aside and will not be sold at this time. The windows will be on display from October 10 through October 31 in the foyer of the auditorium. Please feel free to look at the windows, however please try not to handle them as they are extremely fragile. If you would like to closely examine a window ask for assistance. Bid sheets for each window will be provided and you will have an opportunity to write down your bid on that sheet. The sale will end October 31, and you will then be notified if you have the highest bid for that window. Payment will be expected at that time. It will be your responsibility to remove your window from church property as soon as possible after the sale. Any unsold windows will then be offered to the general public.
