3 What is it? v The Programming tool (Tool) is a software that is used with the programmable MS/TP or N2 controllers. v It has three operating modes: v Configuration: To build or modify new controller programs v Simulation: To test applications as if they were online but in a virtual environment. v Commissioning: To download files, inspect them, and modify them online. v The help for the program requires: v Modern Web browser with the properly enabled security rights on the computer, or a compatible PDF reader

6 The File Menu New The New feature allows you to create a new application file. Open The Open feature allows you to open an existing application file. Close The Close feature closes the current application file. Save and Save As The Save and Save As features save the current application file or allow you to pick a new name. Print The Print feature prints out the current application file. It allows options for the views and subsections that can be printed. Recent Files The Recent Files feature displays the five most recent files. Exit The Exit feature closes the Tool.

7 The View Menu Reset Layout The Reset Layout feature applies default screen layout to the current layout. Restore to Default Screen The Restore to Default Screen feature resets current windows to default screen from perspective or to default screen selected. Arrange Multiple Screens The Arrange Multiple Screens option allows arrangement of screens across multiple monitors, if the computer running the Tool can support them.

8 The Tool Menu Box Flow Test The Box Flow Test feature opens the dialog box to initiate the flow testing of VAV boxes in the system. Wireless The Wireless feature configures both wireless devices and channels. Trunk Utilities The Trunk Utilities feature allows mass uploads and downloads of controllers, attributes, and various system parameters. Controller Information The Controller Information feature allows you to gather information about addressing and programs from one or more controllers.

Job Information The Job Information feature opens a dialog box to allow you to enter or modify information about the application such as who created it, a contract number, and file update history. Upgrade System The Upgrade System feature opens a dialog box to allow you to upgrade an opened program to the current version of the Tool from an older version. Bulk CAF Upgrade Utility The Bulk CAF Upgrade Utility feature allows a directory (and its subdirectories) of CAF files to be upgraded to the current version in bulk. 10 The Help Menu Topics The Topics feature launches the online help system and appears by pressing the F1 key. On clicking a module, pressing the F1 key gets you context-sensitive help. Topics PDF The Topics PDF feature launches Controller tool help in an installed PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. About Tool The About Tool feature gives information on the version of the tool.

11 The Help System v Online Help vcontents View: The Contents View feature allows you to navigate from topic to topic by expanding selections and clicking them. vindex View: You may select the Index View by clicking the tab. Select a subtopic from the list by clicking it. vsearch View: Click the Search tab. Then, type in your keyword in the top box. Select the desired topic from the lower box. vcontext Help: In the tool, click any item to select it, and then press the F1 key to display its help. v PDF Help vuse of the standard Adobe Reader Search functions supported.

12 New for 10.x! Perspective Perspective allows the users to switch between different prepared views of the tool s objects. Perspective Management Perspective Management launches a tool for building perspectives and importing and exporting perspectives. Localization Localization is used for selecting the language. Naming and Signal Naming and Signal allows the users to select the default values for inputs and outputs. System Selection The System Selection feature helps in selecting default answers for selections on the system selection trees. Hide Last Value Modules The Hide Last Value Modules feature helps reduce clutter. Hide Warning Flags The Hide Warning Flags feature hides yellow triangles indicating connections are not completed. Use Involvement Dialog The Use Involvement Dialog feature displays the involvement summary in a separate pop-up box, if selected.

17 Configure Colors vnotice that in the Configure mode, the modules can have four different colors: vtan-colored modules can be opened and the Logic can be viewed. vwhite-colored modules are compiled programs and their Logic cannot be viewed. vblue-colored modules when they are highlighted. vmagenta-colored modules when the Involvement option is selected.

18 Commission and Simulate Colors vwhen in Simulate or Commission mode, the modules can have five different colors: vtan-colored modules can be opened and the Logic can be viewed and edited. vwhite-colored modules are primitives and their Logic is not viewable. vorange-colored modules when hardware and software values do not match. vblue-colored modules when they are highlighted. vmagenta-colored modules when the Involvement option is selected.

19 Simulate and Commission Colors When in Simulate or Commission mode, each module displays a second line. That value is specified as the Default Element inside the Logic of a module. Output Controllers controlled by the state tables display a third line, identifying which state table has control of that particular output control mode or state.

21 Data Types vnetwork Inputs are the objects controlled through commands from the FC bus (or can also be updated through peer-to-peer communications). vthere are three kinds of data in the controller tool: v BOOLEAN False/True only v FLOAT Floating point analog values v ENUM Everything else v Enumeration sets of all blocks must be the same, else the connections cannot be made.

33 Trunk Utilities - Read/Write Attributes Online vthe Read/Write Attributes Online utility allows you to mass edit the attributes of online controllers using attribute templates and read/write functionality. You can access this utility from the Tools menu by selecting Trunk Utilities > Read/Write Attributes Online. vthis utility has the same Connection and Device Selection screens as the Load Device wizard. vthis can be reviewed in class once you have the software.

34 Trunk Utilities - Upgrade Multiple Controllers vthe Upgrade Multiple Controllers trunk utility allows you to upgrade.caf files from multiple devices on the same trunk. vyou can access this utility from the Tools menu by selecting Trunk Utilities > Upgrade Multiple Controllers. This menu option is only available when a Controller Application File is not open. vdo not use Ethernet pass-through connection for upgrading multiple controllers due to potential communications loss during the process. vit is recommended that you upgrade the BTCVT connected device first, before upgrading the rest of the trunk. Note: An IOM on the SA bus of a controller must be upgraded before the controller can be upgraded.

35 Trunk Utilities - Download ZFR Ø This feature allows you to update the boot and radio code for selected ZFR wireless devices. It is only available with no.caf file open. Ø From the Tools menu, select Trunk Utilities > Download ZFR. The Trunk Utilities - Download ZFR wizard appears with the Connection screen active. Ø When the Download screen indicates that you are connected, you can click Discovery to find devices. Ø After devices are listed, you can select the ones you wish to upgrade. Boot and Main code can be forced to be downloaded.
