14 Getting Started Okay, so you ve got your new Glass1000 phone. Now what? Below are some simple steps to get you out of the box, onto your desk, connected, and making calls. Step 1: Unpack it Simple as that. Get the phone out of the box. Step 2: Power it Up Once the phone and adapter have been taken out of the box, it s as simple as plugging the adapter into an available outlet and into the Power Port on the back of the phone. There s no on/off switch. Just provide the juice and Glass1000 awaits your commands. Step 3: Connect it to your Network The Glass1000 desktop phone needs to be connected to a local area network (LAN) in order to make and receive calls. That can be as simple as plugging in a standard RJ45 jack into the port labeled LAN on the back of the phone or a bit more complicated if your network doesn t have an available DHCP server. If your network already has a DHCP server, plugging in your phone will get it an assigned IP address. Once that happens, it s ready to go. In the event that you don t have a DHCP server, you will need to assign your Glass1000 desktop phone a static IP address. For more information about how to configure the IP address, see the appropriate section in this manual. When you are connected, the IP address of your phone and a status message Internet: Connected will appear in the upper-right corner of the interface. Step 4: Configuring it for Phone Calls Before you can use your Glass1000 desktop phone to make a call, you need to set it up. Your Glass1000 desktop phone supports two types of configurations: SIP you can connect to a local SIP server. This is most often for companies that have an existing SIP-based PBX that handles all VoIP calling over the network; and Configuration of the phone settings to connect it to a SIP provider is handled through the Phone Settings that is accessed through the Applications feature. For more information about how to configure the phone, see the appropriate section in this manual. Step 5: Make a call! Once the phone has been configured for use with a SIP or VoIP service, making a call is as simple as picking up the handset. If you want to make a call using the speaker phone, simply tap the Phone Icon in the left-hand navigation bar. This will display a right-hand navigation bar. Touch the Speaker Icon to engage the speaker phone. CloudTC Glass1000 User Manual Page 14 of 173

15 Now, just tap the Keypad Icon in the left-hand navigation bar and enter a phone number. Happy calling! CloudTC Glass1000 User Manual Page 15 of 173

16 Your Glass1000 Desktop Phone and your Phone System The Glass1000 desktop phone is intended to be connected to an existing internetbased phone system such as an IP-PBX (a SIP-based phone system). Provisioning the phone for connecting to a service is carried out through the Phone Settings window. This can be accessed by tapping on the Applications Icon in the left-hand navigation bar and then the Settings Icon. This opens a list of Settings. Tap on the Phone Settings to open a list of lines. Note: the User Name and Phone Number are usually automatically provided by your SIP provider. If you wish to change them, you can tap the User Name and Phone Number Option at the top of the list of lines to change this information. Connecting to a SIP Provider When you access the Phone Settings, you will see a list of available lines on your phone. Each Glass1000 desktop phone supports a maximum of 8 lines. To configure a single line, tap on it. This will bring up the configuration screen for that line.
