4 This document contains late breaking or other information that supplements these Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording components: assr_installer.exe System Components (Windows) Manager Conference Point Transcoder System Components (Conference Point) Delivery Node System Components (Delivery Node) Configuration Utility Configuration Backup Utility 1.1 What s New Avaya Equinox Streaming and Recording (AESR) 9.1 Service Pack 1 brings the following improvement: On the Manager: Fixed error thrown when trying to generate an access report (Report > Program Access and Report > Summary Access) Allow CP, DN, VDN to register with the Manager even if they have an older version or invalid license status 'Secure Media' set to enabled by default for fresh installs and when upgrading from previous versions (and set to read-only so it cannot be changed). This is because the Unified Portal will only operate in HTTPS. This change ensures that recordings and broadcasts will play directly without reconfiguration (certain browsers will not allow a mix of HTTPS (portal) containing media served using HTTP) Resolved issue when importing server certificate in case the server.crt file does not have a final CR/LF between the server and CA cert On CP and DN: Resolved issue of CDN configuration getting lost when a VDN device was unregistered and then registered again New system component (including kernel update) to apply latest security updates On the Transcoder: All: Update of Apache and OpenSSL versions Windows updates for the system components Removed the Windows Desktop Experience so as to be able to remove the built-in Adobe Flash plug-in from Internet Explorer Add SAN (Subject Alternative Name) to self-signed certificates and CSR's Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 What s New 4

This provides a lower cost option, and allows the server(s) to be equipped with additional RAM and/or disk space. Please refer to the section Upgrading Components for upgrading a 9.1 installation to 9.1 SP1. Note that a customer-provided server must meet minimal system requirements including (but not limited to): Disk space: 290G RAM: 12G CPU Cores: 12 Note that if the CPU cores are below 24, or if disk space is below 500G, the server can only be configured as a Delivery Node (so all-in-1 deployment and Conference Point configuration are not allowed). The minimum server specifications for running the AESR Windows Image on customer-provided servers are the same as or very close to the Avaya Common Server 3 (see table below). 48 GB is the minimum but 64 GB memory is better. Avaya Common Server 2 is still supported but the port scalability is non-optimal. There is a configuration utility that detects the host server characteristics and informs about what type of AESR processing can be installed. It may only allow running a Delivery Node (DN) on low spec servers. Important Note: At this time, only HP and Dell server brands have been tested and validated for AESR WIM installation and are the brands officially supported. Although installing the AESR WIM on other server brands could work theoretically, these other server brands are not officially supported. Table 1 below applies for the WIM installed to run as a Media Node or as an All-in-one system. Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Software Windows Image 7

Actual number of NICs required is dependent on configuration and capacity required. Typically at least two or more NICs will be needed to reach capacity and add link resilience. 6 NICs is recommended. A temporary Windows Server 2012 license is provided with the WIM. However, customers must replace it with a permanent license after the installation. The WIM will prompt for it after boot. Security The Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording server does not come with anti-virus software installed. While it is not recommended to install any third-party software on the appliance, we realize that many of our customers do require anti-virus/security software on all of their systems. Since the security of our customers is very important to us, though we do not recommend it, we allow you to install this type of software. We do not make any anti-virus vendor recommendations. Typically, corporate anti-virus programs and protections configured for normal corporate PC deployments will close ports and execute scans on machines which may stop operation of the server or significantly slow the Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Security 9

10 appliance s performance. As a preventative measure, we have locked-down ports and some services on the appliance to secure the environment. Please keep in mind that we do not test any third-party software packages on the system, as deployments are typically installed inside a corporate network and protected by the networks intrusion prevention and firewall systems; thus, we cannot be held responsible for any software conflicts that may arise due to having 3 rd party software installed. The following should be noted when configuring your Equinox solution: The Windows Auto Update Feature is off by default. If the feature is required, please be aware that Windows updates require server reboots. By not switching this feature on, the server is not forced to reboot itself. It is recommended that if a customer does choose to use the Windows Auto Update function or anti-virus software they run updates or scans on off-peak hours. We acknowledge that there is no ideal policy and your system administrators must choose the best method depending on the policies enforced by your organization. Recommendations The following items can or should be done by a customer to ensure secure and effective operation of their Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording systems. Connect all four NICs to ensure the best throughput and redundancy. It is recommended to use gigabit switches. When configuring your servers, use static IP addresses. Change the Console administrator login make sure you securely record this in order to recover the system in case of failure. Change the web management password for each of the components using the individual component web portal pages. Change the administrator web login password for the default administrator login admin for the Manager. You can do Windows Update on the system periodically as mentioned in the Security section. If you schedule this to automatically install updates be sure to not have the system reboot during active system usage, as you may lose active live streaming or recordings in progress. Disable the remote desktop access when you don't need it (by default, the remote desktop port is closed; see the section Enabling Remote Desktop for instructions on how to enable it) Only enable FTP file sharing on the windows server when you need to transfer files, such as recordings intended for import You can install your official domain / signed certificate when you are ready as described in the Administrator Guide Turn off SSH, and SFTP to the Linux DN if you want to limit remote access and file copy via the DN web interface Optionally Install a Virus Protection program as discussed in the Security section Dual power supplies come standard with the enterprise systems and the customer should plug power into both outlets Recorded content is copied to all Media Nodes. For deployments that have only a single Media Node (such as all-in-one deployments), it is important to regularly back up your data to an external storage device Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Recommendations 10

11 Use MMS only if you are using multicast the system uses more resources when configured for MMS so scalability is reduced, and multi-bitrate is disabled for live broadcasts When pausing or resuming a recording: o Pausing a recording takes a few seconds to take effect, so you might record the last few seconds of the meeting which took place after you pressed the Pause Resuming a paused recording takes a few seconds to take effect, so the first few seconds of the meeting which took place after you pressed the Resume might not be recorded Limit recordings to 6 hours. If doing a broadcast with recording, the whole thing terminates (including the broadcast after 6 hours). If you intend to have a long broadcast, you should schedule the broadcast event without configuring it to record. As soon as you connect to the conference you can then start a recording - the recording would end after 6 hours, in that case, but the broadcast would continue Recordings are limited to 6 hours (6 GBytes at 1080p), because otherwise they get too big for playback (the headers take too long for browsers to load with their ½ second timeout and don t play). After 6 hours of recording the SD client says recording has ended the user can click again through the SD GUI to start another recording. What should NOT be done: Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording comes with the built in firewall enabled and rules for enabling ports that the Manager requires it is not recommended to change any of these settings. The Delivery Node and Conference Point come with the CentOS Linux personal firewall disabled. It is not recommended to enable this firewall as it could affect performance and needs configuration to properly enable the right ports. If a firewall protection is required we suggest you install a HW firewall in front of the DN and CP. The root/administrator account is critical for the operation of the different services and logging on the DN and other Linux appliances and should not be disabled or changed. Yum or OS updates on the Linux systems should NOT be done. The Linux based appliances depend on the exact versions of the CentOS that it arrives with as well as the specific set of tools and version of those tools for proper operation. The Manager, CP and DN come with specific versions of Tomcat/Apache as well as SQL database systems, which should not be changed or updated. Any other change to the system may affect operation or performance and should not be done without contacting Avaya. Please keep in mind that recording ports are not managed resources, and are therefore not guaranteed. When a scheduled meeting which you want to record or broadcast is started, if all recording ports are in use, the meeting is not recorded/broadcasted. Enabling Remote Desktop If you want to access your server remotely, Remote Desktop needs to be enabled by opening the firewall port. From Server Manager, click Tools Windows Firewall with Advanced Security: Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Enabling Remote Desktop 11

12 Click Inbound Rules: Scroll down, Double-Click Remote Desktop User Mode (TCP-In): Click the Advanced Tab: Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Enabling Remote Desktop 12

17 Resolved Issues This section details the list of issues that have been resolved in this release. Table 1: List of resolved Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording issues in this version Case Number ASR-3427 ASR-3262 ASR-3618 ASR ASR-3728 ASR-3724 ASR-3732 Description of issue Add SAN (Subject Alternative Name) to self-signed certificates and CSR s Secure Media Delivery will now default to Enabled and cannot be disabled, since the Portal is always configured for HTTPS. If the Manager is configured with a license which prevents secure media, this option will not be available, so be sure to use a supported browser: On a Mac, Safari will work but Chrome will not On a Windows PC, Microsoft Edge will work, Internet Explorer and Chrome will not When upgrading to v9.1, make sure that all components (CP, DN, VDN) are registered to the Manager prior to upgrading the Manager. If the Manager is upgraded to v9.1 before the other components, they will not be able to register Fix issue importing a server certificate if the server.crt does not have a final CR/LF between the server and CA certs Fix issue to allow the admin account to perform backup on the Delivery Node Fix upgrade issues when upgrading from v9.0 to v9.1 or higher Fix issue playing an Elite7K recording in the Chrome browser Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Resolved Issues 17

18 Known Issues This section details the list of known issues for this version. Table 2: List of known Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording issues in this version Case Number Description of issue Recordings are stored on the Delivery Node. Effective disk space for the delivery node is approximately 930 Gigabytes. If additional storage is required, AESR v9.0 now supports external storage devices (SAN) (see the Expanded Storage section above for more details). You can monitor the disk usage of the Delivery Node by logging in to the Manager administrative interface. Navigate to the Devices tab Click on Delivery Nodes in the Browse menu Look for the Disk Usage column of the Delivery Node, which reports what percent of the disk is used If you are nearing capacity and do not use a SAN, recordings can be downloaded via either the user portal or the administrator Programs tab, and the administrator can delete programs. See the administrator s guide for more details. Recordings will fail if adequate disk space is not available for those recordings. When not using SAN, unlike the automated purge mechanism we provide when using SAN, there is no automated mechanism to notify users or administrator of disk utilization. It is the administrator s responsibility to regularly monitor disk space utilization and free space if necessary. Audio at the start of the recording will be delayed by a few seconds (so you will see the video without audio initially), so that the AESR server can determine proper A/V synchronization Terminating the meeting while a recording is going on (as opposed to Stopping the recording, then terminating the meeting) might result in loss of less than a second of the recording When deploying a new server using the WIM (Windows Image), if you can t access the network, you should re-enable a network adapter Right-click on the Network tray icon, select Open Network and Sharing Center Click Change Adapter Settings Right click on a Network Interface corresponding to a network cable that is plugged in to the server Select Disable When the network is disabled, right click on that same interface and select Enable 15 fps and 15 fps for resolution HLS MBR broadcasts Pausing a recording will take a few seconds, so the recording will include the last few seconds after you press the Pause Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Known Issues 18

19 Resuming a recording that is paused will take a few seconds to start; the first few seconds after you press the Resume will not be recorded No ability to stream multicast with Silverlight in the Equinox Conferencing Unified Portal. This is because Silverlight does not support HTTPS and the Unified Portal requires the use of HTTPS. Multicast streaming is supported with Windows Media Player and its plugin for the Internet Explorer 11 browser. However, no support for Chrome, Firefox. No support for Mac. If you secure Manager or DN servers using a certificate generated by Microsoft CA, the ASR-1442 certificate must have a Certificate Revocation List (CRL). If it is not configured, IE11 will reject the certificate and you will not be able to play back a recording, unless you disable server revocation checking in the Internet Options of the client IE11 browser. ASR-1543 Recordings should be at least 1 minute before terminating. If it is shorter, it might not appear in the list of recordings. If secure media is desired, the Secure Media Delivery check box must be checked to ensure that users receive HLS and VoD media over a secure HTTPS connection. To ASR-1700 ensure the web pages are delivered over HTTPS, this must be done in the Equinox Management administrative GUI. If Secure Media Delivery is checked but Avaya Equinox Streaming and Recording is configured for HTTP in Equinox Management, some browsers might block downloading of the recording. In order to ensure that recordings work properly, each Equinox MCU service must be ASR-1830 configured with the G.711U codec. This codec is configured by default, and should not be removed from the service. Do not install Wireshark on the Transcoder. Doing so can break the transcoder operation (Wireshark x64 will remove the x86 Visual Studio distribution library). ASR-2879 ASR ASR-3284 ASR-3494 Please refer to this knowledgebase article for more information: Very long broadcasts (longer than 24 hours) could stop unexpectedly, so a broadcast should be limited to 24 hours. If a longer broadcast is needed, it is recommended to schedule as a separate broadcast. When broadcasting a meeting that is limited to 720p in the Media Server service configuration, if you are using a recording profile configured with Multi-Bitrate and Try to maintain: Resolution, you must limit the broadcast to a bitrate of 768K. On Android devices, recordings and broadcasts cannot be played using the Android browser be sure to use Chrome or Firefox instead Release Notes for Avaya Equinox Streaming & Recording Version 9.1 SP1 Known Issues 19
