6 What is the SV PRO What is the SV PRO The SV PRO is a Dell PowerEdge R320 server that comes preloaded with Genetec security software, and Windows Embedded Standard 7. The SV PRO is for small to mid-scale, single or multiple server installations, and can support both cameras and access control readers. You can deploy SV PRO in the following ways: Stand-alone network security appliance. Remote system that is part of a Security Center or Omnicast Federation. Remote Archiver that is part of a Security Center or Omnicast system. NOTE For more information about the Genetec software versions installed on the SV-PRO, see the SV-PRO Release Notes. 1 EN V10.12(3)

7 About SV-PRO configurations and licenses About SV-PRO configurations and licenses The SV PRO provides license flexibility and is compatible with Genetec s Standard Professional and Enterprise software packages. The license you need depends on how you want to use the appliance. Packages Video Only Access Control Only Security Center 5 Standard Package up to 50 cameras, or 200 Mbps of throughput up to 64 readers Video & Access Control up to 50 cameras and 64 readers, or 100 Mbps of throughput Plan Manager up to 3 maps and 30 entities and limited to 5 concurrent users Security Center 5 Professional or Enterprise package up to 100 cameras, or 200 Mbps of throughput up to 256 readers up to 50 cameras and 128 readers, or 100 Mbps of throughput up to 3 maps and 30 entities and limited to 5 concurrent users Security Center 5 Standard, Professional, or Enterprise package with Mobile Server Omnicast 4 Standard package Omnicast 4 Professional or Enterprise package 1 stream: up to 50 recording streams and 10 mobile streams at 2 Mbps. 2 streams: up to 50 recording streams and 20 mobiles (320x240 at 15 fps) at 2 Mbps up to 50 cameras, or 200 Mbps of throughput up to 100 cameras, or 200 Mbps of throughput N/A N/A up to 3 maps and 30 entities and limited to 5 concurrent users N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A NOTES The 100 camera connections can either be a mix of IP cameras, or analog cameras connected to IP encoders. The IP cameras or encoders must be connected to the SV PRO through an IP network using a network switch. Some restrictions on the Enterprise Package apply. For more information, speak to your sales representative. If the SV-PRO is configured in RAID5 mode, the maximum throughput will be limited to 200 Mbps. EN V10.12(3) 2

The SV-PRO kit includes the following: SV-PRO appliance Security Center and Omnicast, Windows Embedded Standard 7 64-bit installed. 9 About SV-PRO Hardware Hardware components Following are the hardware specifications of the available SV-PRO appliances: 4 TB, 8 TB, 12 TB and 16 TB. There are two types of RAIDs: 8 TB RAID and 12 TB RAID. 11 Before you install Before you install This section describes the things you need to know and do before installing the product. Keep product packaging It is best practice to keep the product packaging in case you have to return the product. Hardware requirements To use the SV PRO, you need the following items: Ethernet connection Display monitor with a VGA input and cable USB keyboard USB mouse USB key with the latest Security Center version Getting started This section contains the basic procedures to get started using the SV PRO. For more information about using Security Center or Omnicast, see Product documentation on page iii. Connect the SV PRO 1 Connect your VGA monitor to the SV PRO VGA connector. 2 If it is not turned on, then turn on the monitor. 3 Connect the keyboard and mouse to the two USB A ports. 4 Plug your Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port. 12 Before you install Upgrading the SV-PRO You can use the USB key provided in your kit to install the latest Security Center version on the SV-PRO. IMPORTANT The SV-PRO must be in its default state before upgrading it. The upgrade will fail if an Omnicast or Security Center license has been applied or if any configuration changes have been made to the SV-PRO. For more information, see the Security Center Installation and Upgrade Guide. 1 Turn on the SV-PRO. 2 Insert the provided USB key. 3 Log on to Windows using the credentials admin/admin. 4 Navigate to Computer, and then double-click the USB drive to open it. 5 Double-click the SC_Upgrade file to run the installer. The installer will detect the Security Center version that is installed and start the upgrade if required. 6 Follow the instructions and reboot the SV-PRO if necessary. After you are done: Log on to Windows and run the ProductSelector.exe to enable the Genetec software you want to use. See Select software product on page 8. 7 EN V10.12(3)

13 Before you install Select software product You can only run one software product at a time. Once the SV PRO starts, you must activate Security Center or Omnicast applications, depending on your license. NOTE You cannot log on to the server until you activate one product type. 1 Log on to Windows using the credentials admin/admin. 2 On your desktop, click the ProductSelector.exe icon. The Genetec Product Selector window opens. 3 Under the product type you want to enable (Omnicast, Security Center, or Security Center and Mobile), click Enable. Once the product is enabled, it says Currently enabled under the product type. NOTE The Security Center and Mobile option is only available if Mobile server is installed. There is a shortcut on the desktop to install Mobile server. 4 If you want to enable a different product, open the Genetec Product Selector, and under the other product name, click Enable. This disables the currently selected product. NOTE Even if you disable a product, it remains installed on the SV-PRO. After you are done: Log on to Server Admin and activate your license. 14 Before you install Activate license This section explains how to activate your Security Center and Omnicast licenses using an Internet connection. If you do not have Internet access, you can activate your license manually. Security Center license Web activation on page 9 Omnicast license Web activation on page 10 Manual license activation on page 10 Security Center license Web activation This section explains how to activate your Security Center license using Web activation. 1 Open Server Admin by clicking the Server Admin icon in the Windows taskbar. 2 Leave the password blank, and click Log on. 3 In the License dialog box that appears, click Modify License. 4 In the License management dialog box, click Web activation. 5 Enter the System ID and Password assigned to you when you purchased your license, and click Activate. 9 EN V10.12(3)

15 Before you install Omnicast license Web activation This section explains how to activate your Omnicast license using Web activation. 1 Open Server Admin by clicking the Server Admin icon in the Windows taskbar. 2 Click the License tab. 3 Click Activate license from the web ( ). 4 In the Web activation dialog box, enter the System ID and Password assigned to you when you purchased your license, and click OK. 5 Click OK. Manual license activation This section explains how to activate your Security Center or Omnicast license manually if you do not have Internet access. 1 Save the validation key. If you are using Security Center: i Open Server Admin by clicking the Server Admin icon in the Windows taskbar. ii Leave the password blank, and click Log on. iii In the License dialog box that appears, click Modify License. iv In the License management dialog box, click Validation key, and save the validation key. The default name for the file is Validation.vk. If you are using Omnicast: i Open Server Admin by clicking the Server Admin icon in the Windows taskbar. ii In the License tab of the System entity, click Export Validation key to a file ( ). The default name for the file is Validation.vk. 2 From another computer with Internet access, log on to GTAP at 3 In the GTAP login page, enter System ID and Password assigned to you when you purchased your license, and click Login. 4 In the System Management tab, click System Browser. 5 In the computer license list, click More info next to the computer you want to activate the license for. 6 Click Activate your license now. 7 In the Activation dialog box, browse for the Validation.vk file, and click Submit. The message Your license has successfully been activated appears. 8 Click Click here to download your license key, and save the license key to a file. The default file name is your System ID, followed by _Directory_License.lic. EN V10.12(3) 10

16 Before you install 9 To activate your license, return to Server Admin. If you are using Security Center: i In the Directory tab of Server Admin, click License information. ii In the License dialog box, click Modify license. iii In the License management dialog box, click Manual activation. iv In the Manual activation dialog box, paste your license information from the License.lic file (open with a text editor), or browse for the License.lic file, and click Open. v Click Activate. If you are using Omnicast: i In the License tab of the System entity, click Import License Key from a File. i Browse for the License.lic file, and click Open. ii Click Apply. Install client applications on a remote system It is best practice to run the client applications on a different computer. The SV- PRO includes Security Center and Omnicast client installation files that you can copy to, and install on the remote computer. For Security Center: Copy the Full folder located in C:\SC5. For Omnicast: Copy the Client folder located in C:\Omnicast. For more details on how to install Security Center or Omnicast client, see the Security Center or Omnicast Installation and Upgrade Guide. The latest versions of these documents are available for download from the GTAP Documents page, at NOTE You will need a username and password to log on to GTAP. Configuring the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver only The section explains how to use the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver for Security Center or Omnicast. Configure the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver for Security Center on page 12 Configure the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver for Omnicast on page 12 NOTE If you are using the SV-PRO as an Archiver only, no license is required on the SV-PRO. Only the system hosting the main Directory must have a license for the required camera connections. 11 EN V10.12(3)

17 Before you install Configure the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver for Security Center To use the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver for Security Center, you must convert the SV-PRO from being a main server to an expansion server by deactivating the Directory Service. You also need to assign the expansion server to the Archiver role on the main Directory. 1 On the SV-PRO, log on to Server Admin. 2 In the Server Admin page, click the Genetec Server tab. 3 Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Deactivate Directory. A warning will display asking you if you want to continue. 4 Click Continue. The Genetec Server will restart. 5 Log on to Server Admin again, and click the Genetec Server tab. 6 Scroll down to the Main server connection section, and enter the name and password of the main Directory. 7 Click Apply. 8 Open Config Tool, and log on to the main Directory server. 9 From the Home page, open the System task. 10 Select the Roles view and click ( ) Archiver role. 11 From the Server drop-down list, select the SV-PRO expansion server you just created. 12 Enter the Specific info for this role, and click Next. 13 Enter the Basic information for this role, and click Next. 14 Click Create, then click Close. Configure the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver for Omnicast To use the SV-PRO as a remote Archiver for Omnicast, you need to disable all services except for the Archiver on the SV-PRO, and then configure the Archiver to connect to the Gateway of the main Directory. 1 From the Windows Control Panel, click Administrative Tools > Component Services > Services. 2 Right-click Genetec Omnicast Directory, and click Properties. 3 On the General tab, beside Startup type, select Disabled and click Apply. 4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all other services (Gateway, Virtual Matrix, etc.) with the exception of the Archiver. 5 Log on to Server Admin. 6 From the resource tree, click Archiver. 7 On the General tab enter the Gateway of the main Directory. 8 Click Apply. 18 Before you install Configure Archiver storage settings By default, only the SV-PRO drive D is configured to store video files. To make use of all the storage capacity on the SV-PRO, you'll need to manually select the additional drives on the SV-PRO. To configure Archiver storage settings in Security Center: 1 Log on to the Config Tool. 2 Open the Video administration task. 3 Select the Archiver role entity to configure. 4 Select the Resources tab. 5 Under Disk group, select the additional drives. To configure Archiver storage settings in Omnicast: 1 Log on to the Server Admin. 2 Select the Archiver. 3 Select the Archiving tab. 4 Under Disk, select the additional drives. For more information on how to configure Archiver storage settings, see the Omnicast Administrator Guide or the Security Center Administrator Guide. 13 EN V10.12(3)

19 Product warranty Product warranty The SV PRO comes with a 1-year standard software warranty from Genetec, and a 3-year ProSupport and Next Business Day on-site Service hardware warranty from Dell. Product repairs and returns This section explains the product return process. What should I do if the product is not working? Contact Genetec Technical Assistance for troubleshooting. An RMA form will be issued to you if the problem cannot be resolved. For more information, see Technical support on page iv. How do I return the product? If a replacement unit is required, you must complete the RMA form provided by Genetec Technical Assistance before being issued an RMA number. Once you are given a number, you can then return the defective unit. The customer is responsible for all return shipping charges, and Genetec will pay the shipping charges to send the repaired product back to the customer. IMPORTANT If no problem is found with the unit, the customer is invoiced. Where to find system information You need to have all system information on hand when contacting Genetec Technical Support, such as the Product ID number and image version (platform version). Find Security Center system license information 1 Log on to the Config Tool or Security Desk. 2 Click the Home button. 3 From the Home page, click the About button. Find Omnicast system license information 1 Log on to the Config Tool, Live Viewer, or Archive Player. 2 Click the Help menu, and click Technical support. EN V10.12(3) 14

20 Find the image version 1 Log on to the SV-PRO. 2 Open the System properties window by navigating to Start > Control Panel > System. 3 The image version is located under System > Model.

Operation is subject to the following two conditions: - This device may not cause harmful interference, and - This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Any changes or modification to the product not expressly approved by Genetec could void the user s authority to operate this device. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits of a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a residential environment. This equipment generates, uses, and radiates radio frequency energy, and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur. If this equipment does cause interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to correct the interference by one of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Increase separation between the equipment and receiver. Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from which the receiver is connected.
