209 ACMS Communication Package Quick Start T-20D Rev: 1.2 ACMS Communication Package Quick Start 1.0 Getting Started 1.1 Package Contents A CD containing the following files in its Install folder: \ACMS Communication Package.cab \Setup.exe \Setup.lst If any of these files are missing, the ACMS Communication Package will not install. 1.2 System Requirements Minimum Pentium 100Mhz 32 Mb of RAM 20 Mb of hard drive space An available Comm Port capable of speeds of 9600 bps. A standard RS 232 Cable. Display resolution of 256 Colors Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/Xp operating system. Microsoft Word Software Installation Procedure (i). (ii). (iii). Load the ACMS Communication Package CD in your CD or DVD Drive. After a few seconds the CD should AutoStart and display a selection list. Click the INSTALL SOFTWARE button to begin the installation process. If the CD fails to AutoStart, double click on the drive containing the ACMS CD from My Computer, double click on.the autorun or autorun.exe icon, then click on the INSTALL SOFTWARE button from the displayed selection list. A button Click here to install will appear. The default directory for the installation is shown. It is suggested that you leave the default directory as is and simply click on the button to continue with the installation process.

210 ACMS Communication Package Quick Start T-20D Rev: 1.2 (iv). (v). You will now need to enter the group name for the ACMS communication package (to appear under the start menu). This group name is the shortcut to start the application. It is suggested that the default values be accepted. Files required by the program are then copied on your computer. A dialog box with the text installation successful will appear. Click on OK to acknowledge this message. The ACMS communication Package is now ready for your use. A desktop shortcut is installed on your desktop as well. 2.1 ACMS Remote Access Setup ACMS Units can be accessed remotely by the use of modems. The external modem should support a minimum speed of 9600 bps. Make sure that the modem allows for a Data Terminal Ready Override option. This option is present on most US Robotics External Modems. Set the modem up to match the speed of the ACMS unit and to Auto Answer an incoming call. 3.0 Using the Application 3.1 Analyzing the system The application is able to do a system analysis when you are connected to the ACMS unit (see Fig 3.1.1). By clicking on the button, the software polls the connected ACMS units for measurements and other data. These are then analyzed and presented in a form similar to figure By clicking on the individual units, you can get further details of how that unit is behaving in the system (see fig 3.1.3). Fig

The measurements are stored in the ACMS unit and are recalled when doing a system analysis. Saving these defaults ensures a more accurate system analysis. 3.3 Setup The options under this menu lets the user change settings that relate to individual ACMS boards such as the unit s ID etc. The user can also change the connection settings for the Comm port and save the Site Settings. 3.4 System Selection Allows the user to recall a set of previously saved site settings. 3.4 More ACMS Commands These options let the user diagnose the CS28-A system more thoroughly by: Allowing access to the ACMS log files; Ability to key different transmitters; Ability to clear alarms; Gather live readings about line attenuation; Read saved logs files; and initiating a checkback upon the user s request.
