1 How to download EDS Data Using a Cable on Windows for PW305A/B Please note that a download using a cable can take up to 30 min and a power source for the laptop should be available to back up the laptop battery. 1 Cable Connection The female end of the cable is connected to the serial port at the rear of the laptop and the male end connects to the J2 port EDU For downloading from the EDU (instructions in section 2 and 3 below), the cable must be connected to Control Display unit in the tail avionic compartment With APU Without APU For downloading from the CDU in the cockpit (instructions in section 5 below), the cable must be connected to female EIA-232-D J2 connector on the front panel on the CDU. 2 2 GBSLite EDU Download (Preferred method) This method is the most simple. It allows the user to automatically record the session The following procedure will take around 30 min to download Steps Action Expected Results 1 Start GBSLite 2 Connect the Cable to the Control Display unit in the tail avionic compartment 3 Select PW305A or PW305B model 4 Click on Download EDU 5 Wait Until the download is completed (approx 30 min) 6 The download data is automatically converted and opened in GBSLite for analysis Maintenance Technologies 2 of 9

3 Hyper Terminal EDU download (Alternate method) The following procedure will take around 30 min to download

7 4 Flashcard CDU download (obsolete method) The following procedure will take around 30min to download Steps Actions Expected Results 1 At the EDS MAIN MENU, press to >DOWNLOAD DATA and press At the <DOWNLOAD menu, press to <DOWNLOAD (PW REQD) 2 move the cursor to >TO FLASH CARD <TO FLASH CARD > and press. <VIA MODEM > <MODEM SETUP > 3 At the menu, insert the flash card into CDU front panel J4 receptacle. INSERT FLASH CARD >PRESS <ENTER> TO CONTINUE 4 5 Press to move cursor to <PRESS <ENTER> and press. At the menu, the FLASH CARD INSERTED message will appear. FLASH CARD INSERTED >BEGIN DOWNLOAD Press to move cursor to >BEGIN DOWNLOAD. Press to start download At the menu, the ERASING FLASH CARD message will appear. To abort the flash card download, press to move the cursor to >ABORT DOWNLOAD > and press. During the DOWNLOADING DATA cycle, the REMAINING: XXXXX indicates erase progress. When the erase cycle is successfully completed, the DOWNLOADING DATA message will appear. The abort download option may also be selected if required. After the download cycle successfully completed, the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE message will appear momentarily. During the DOWNLOADING DATA cycle, the REMAINING: XXXXX indicates download progress. 8 13 14 If an error during flash card download occurs, a DOWNLOAD ABORTED ERROR IN TRANSFER message will appear. IF the download has been aborted, repeat step 1 to 10. 9 5 Hyper Terminal CDU Download (not recommended method) The following procedure will take around 1h30 min to download Steps Actions Expected Results 1 Connect the 9 pin male EIA-232-D cable connector into the 9 pins female EIA-232-D J2 connector on the front panel on the CDU Connect the opposite end of the RS-232 null modem cable to the personal computer male 9 pin COM connector. At the <DOWNLOAD menu, push to move the cursor to >VIA RS232/MODEM and push. At the DOWNLAOD VIA MODEM menu, push to the >ALL RECORDS option. Push. <DOWNLOAD (PW REQD) <TO FLASH CARD > <VIA RS232/MODEM > <MODEM SETUP > <DOWNLOAD VIA MODEM <LATEST RECORDS > <ALL RECORDS > MODEM CONNECTED > Set Hyper Terminal as described in section 3 Hyper Terminal EDU download (Alternate method). On the CDU, at the >BEGIN DOWNLOAD menu, push. The computer screen will show the data as it is downloaded. When the computer stops scrolling, the CDU display shows DOWNLOAD COMPLETE. Push to >BEGIN DOWNLOAD, push to return tot the <EDS MAIN MENU. From Hyper Terminal menu, select Transfer than Stop Maintenance Technologies 9 of 9
