In these activities you will: Find out about medals and brooches from the British Museum collection Design and program a BBC micro:bit with a symbolic display Create a wearable holder for the micro:bit Use coding concepts: repetition, selection, input Use BBC micro:bit functions: LEDs, button input, accelerometer, Bluetooth There are 3 activities in this booklet, you can use it to support you to code both at the British Museum and back at home. There is information at the back of the booklet about what you will need to do the activities at home. Did you know? The British Museum has lots of brooches and medals in its collection many can be seen in Room 47. Hidden messages and symbols can often be found in these objects. The brooch on the right was made in in the form of a snake - its body is set with diamonds and eyes are two rubies. The snake in the form of a circle is a symbol of eternity. The medal on the right was made in 1809 and shows French leader Napoleon Bonaparte holding an olive branch. It symbolises the end of a war with Austria. Sponsored by

6 You will need to make a slot in the felt to match up with the card so that the battery can be attached to the micro:bit. Decorate the holder with any additional features you like. Your code will transfer ( flash ) to the micro:bit m IMPORTANT do not interact with the micro:bit before flashing is complete. Your programm should now display on the t micro:bit.. 8
