MATERIALS: Fabric scraps with fun designs to fussy cut, heavyweight double sided fusible interfacing (Peltex 72F), pins, scissors, iron, sewing machine, coordinating thread, 2 keychain split rings step 1. Stick your fabric onto your standard mat (be sure to use the high tack adhesive support sheet) and load into the machine. step 2. Depending on the fabric design you want to fussy cut, select a shape from the preloaded designs on the machine. (I chose a circle to match my fabric design.)

2 step 3. Don t worry about the size of the shape for now. Leave it at the default size and click Set. On the next screen, select the scan icon and click OK. step 4. The machine will scan in your fabric, (using the background scan function) so we can then layer our shape directly over the fabric design we want to fussy cut out. You will see the fabric on the display screen once it s done scanning. step 5. Now click on the top left icon to adjust the number of shapes we need the machine to cut out. step 6. Next, click on the measurementadjusting icon.

3 step 7. Now, click on the + sign to bump the number up from 1 to 2. We will need two fabric shapes (in my case, circles) for the keychain. Also, take this time to adjust the size of the shape to get it exactly how you want it to be so that it matches the fabric design you want to fussy cut. When you re done, click OK. step 8. Move the shape around to place it exactly over the area of the fabric design you want it to fussy cut. Click OK and Cut. Then hit the Start/Stop button. (Make sure you adjust your blade setting for the kind fabric you are working with.) step 9. Take your two identical shapes off the mat and use one to create a template for the interfacing. step 10. Cut out one identical shape of the heavyweight double-sided fusible interfacing, using one of your cutouts as the template.

4 step 11. Cut a fabric rectangle that measures 3.5" x 2.5". step 12. Lay it with the pretty side of the fabric face down and fold in half lengthwise. Press fold with iron. step 13. Open it back up and fold the bottom edge in towards the center crease line. Repeat for top edge as well and press with iron. step 14. Refold on the center crease line and press with iron.

5 step 15. Feed this strip through one of the keychain split rings to make a loop where both raw ends of the fabric strip meet. step 16. Layer one fabric circle with pretty side face down, then with interfacing on top of it. Next is the keychain strip as shown in the image, and finally layer the second fabric circle on top of it. Fuse the four parts together with your iron. The pretty sides of the fabrics should all be facing out with the interfacing between them, with the keychain ring loop sandwiched in there as well. step 17. Continue to press and flip your keychain over from side to side until both fabrics are properly fused to the interfacing. (Refer to the interfacing manufacturer s instructions to figure out whether or not you will need water/steam to fuse it correctly.) step 18. Using a satin stitch or narrow and long zigzag stitch, slowly sew around the entire exterior edge to encase raw edges and finish off your new keychain!
