2 1. Data Log Storage The following reference table shows approximate amount of time ECU will log data based on the selected logging rate. Logging Rate (Hz) Time (HH:MM:SS) 1 11:22:30 2 5:41:15 5 2:16: :08: :34: :27: :13:39 A Data Log file is created every time the engine is started. The amount of data that can be stored on your RIVA/Vi-PEC ECU is dependant upon two (2) factors. The number of individual files (a maximum of 10 individual files). OR The amount of time (see chart above). Here are two examples of how Data Logging will stop: Example #1 If you start and stop the engine ten (10) times Data Logging will stop. Example #2 If you are logging data at a rate of 20Hz Data Logging will stop after 34minutes:07seconds of riding time. Once the maximum number of files or time is reached Data Logging will stop. 3 2. How to View Data Log Storage Status 2.1 Disconnect wrist lanyard from start/stop switch. 2.2 Connect supplied communication cable to ECU connector with Orange O-ring (Figure 1). NOTE: Communication cable is keyed and will only connect to ECU s USB connector one way and should not be forced. Connect opposite end of cable to USB port on the PC. Figure 1 USB Communication Port on ECU 2.3 On the RIVA Power Connector, locate the Brown/Yellow un-terminated wire (ground wire). Remove shrink wrap covering end of wire. NOTE: Do not discard shrink wrap. 2.4 Touch exposed end of Brown/Yellow wire to engine block or valve cover. NOTE: DO NOT CONNECT TO BATTERY. This wire, once grounded, will enable you to access the ECU via your PC with the engine off. 2.5 Open Vi-PEC Calibration Software on your PC. Select the ECU Status tab to view the Data Log Status and Logging Capacity (Figure 2). Figure 2 ECU Status Tab ECU Logging Status ECU Logging Capacity Word doc. 4 2.6 ECU Logging Status will be highlighted in red when it reaches maximum capacity (Figure 3). Figure 3 ECU Status Tab ECU Logging Maximum Capacity 3. How to Download Data Logs 3.1 With the ECU connected to your computer open the Vi-PEC Calibration Software. In the ECU Controls menu select ECU Log File Manager (Figure 2). 5 3.2 In the ECU Log File Manager (Figure 3), select the log file you wish to save. With the correct log file highlighted left click Save Log As. A new window will open to allow you to give the file a name and select where to save it (Figure 4). Select Save to save a copy. The default directory is C:\ViPEC\VTS. NOTE: Larger the data files will take longer to save. 6 4. How to Delete Data Logs 4.1 Before proceeding download and save all Data Log Files (see section 1 above). Once deleted the files cannot be retrieved. 4.2 In the ECU Log File Manager (Figure 1) click on the Delete All Logs button at the bottom of the window. This is permanent. Data Log Files deleted cannot be retrieved. Figure 1 Example 1 Maximum number of Data Logs (10) Delete All Logs will delete all files without saving them. 5. How to Display Data Logs 5.1 Download and install the Vlogger Software (click here to download). 5.2 Open the Vlogger program (Desktop icon ). 5.3 In the File menu select Import Vi-PEC Log. 7 5.4 A new window will open. Navigate to the Data Log file you saved to your computer. Select the file you wish to view and then Open. Open 5.5 The data file will be loaded into the Log viewer. Use the Left and Right arrows on the keyboard to move the cursor through the data displayed. NOTE: Moving the cursor through the data will update all Channels Graphed or Numerical. 8 5.6 To select channels to display; in the upper left hand corner, left click Edit then Logger Setup. Edit Logger Setup 5.7 A new window will open. Here a Channels can be selected to be graphed, colors can be assigned and maximum values set.
