Detail To make our range of ITP terminals even easier to configure and even more secure we have made the full range of terminals Plug n Play. There are two new versions of software available that allow the PnP support: ITP 51xx terminals version 3.30 ITP 5112L terminal version 3.40 How does it work? The basic principle of the PnP support on ITPs is that a DHCP server on the customer s network provides the information to the ITP terminal via the addition of a TFTP server option to the DHCP server s scope. There are two options to be added to the DHCP server and in MMC 840 on the OfficeServ the ITPs ID data is replaced with its MAC address. The two DHCP server options are: Option 66 (Boot Server Host Name) Option 128 (TFTP Server) TB May 2008 Page 1 of 6

3 DHCP Server Configuration This example is based on Windows server Other DHCP server options may differ, please refer to your configuration guide for instructions. 1. Configure a new scope 2. Add the TFTP option (option code 128) to the new scope, this is not available on a newly created scope by default - Right-click the server and select Set Predefined Options, then click Add. - Enter the Name as TFTP Server IP, Data Type is IP Address, Code is 128, and Description is TFTP Server IP Address for ITP Devices. - Click OK - Now enter the IP address of the OfficeServ system TB May 2008 Page 3 of 6

4 - Click OK - Under the new DHCP Scope you created is a field labelled "Scope Options". If you rightclick Scope Options and select Configure Options, you can select Option 66 and Option 128 that you have just created. - For Option 66 configure the String Value as SEC_ITP. - Click Apply and OK in order to see that the scope now has Options 66 and Activate the new Scope created. - After DHCP server options have been setup and MMC840 setup, power on the ITP phone - If the phone has been connected to a network before you will need to perform a Factory reset and reboot ITP for it to connect - Out of the box and in default state the ITPs will connect to the DHCP server directly TB May 2008 Page 4 of 6

5 Inputting the MACs into MMC 840 The MAC addresses can be easily copied and pasted into MMC 840 from an Excel spread sheet. In addition Sales Order Processing provide a list of MAC addresses from your order of ITP terminals in Excel file format so they can be easily entered into MMC 840. 6 Enhanced ITP Registration after Network or Server Failure We have made the re-registration function on ITPs even more flexible. Versions 3.30 and 3.40 now allow an ITP terminal to have up to four OfficeServ systems as servers in their setup; if the first choice server is unavailable the ITP will register to the next server in its list and so on. Now with v3.30 and v3.40 software, if the first choice server becomes available again, the ITP will re-register to this server. Example ITP registration flow: ITP 3201 Server 1: (first choice) Server 2: (second choice) Server 3: (third choice) Server 4: (fourth choice) If Server 1 is unavailable due to network or system down time, 3201 will re-register to Server 2.
