4 Windows 10, Java 8, license dongle Windows 10 Inspector software is now also available on Java 8 Java 8 run time environment is used with Inspector It benefits from bug fixes and memory management improvements in Java 8. Note, not yet supported: DPSS laser source Power Tracer 3 Note for module developers: not all Java 8 language features for development are available. Note, supported with default windows 10 driver EM Probe Station (EM PS will show up as a USB Serial Port device in Windows control panel License dongle recovery In some cases Inspector would loose connection to the license dongle requiring a restart of the software. Now Inspector automatically recovers the license dongle and continues its operation without user interference. A timestamp of such event is added to the log. Applies to Windows 7 and Windows 10 installations. 4

7 Improvements and fixes Disable output in framework 2 To increase performance during acquisition or perturbation, you can now disable the communication logging in framework 2. Increased LeCroy scope sample limit to 128M samples. This used to be limited to 48M samples. Increased max value Rather than predefined values, Range now accepts any value: Enable / disable logging Fill out any value for more precise range 7

9 Chaining Chain result trace set now correctly uses log scale (default setting for Spectrum last module in the chain) Consistent and robust implementation Across all relevant modules, chaining is now available in a consistent manner, and it does not lead to exceptions anymore. Your old chaining modules will still run in Inspector 4.12 (backwards compatible, deprecated in the future). Spectrum Several instability issues fixed with regard to the use of the Spectrum module in combination with the chaining function in Inspector. Chaining can now be used in combination with the Spectrum module: When there is an Acquisition 2 module prior to Spectrum In chains of the Acquisition 1 modules In any chain, when there is a Compress module prior to Spectrum Sampling frequency passed by acquisition module during chain execution 9

10 Chaining (Cont.) Static alignment Two alignment modules can be used correctly in a chain in Store -Apply mode also when those alignment modules are not placed directly after each other. Removed samples and traces panels When configuring any system module (except Trim) inside the chain, the samples and traces panel are no longer available. The Trim module can still be explicitly added to the chain to select samples or traces. A module is applied to all the samples from all the traces that are passed to it inside the chain. This was changed to prevent chaining problems triggered as follows: The Resample module changes the number of samples. The StaticAlign module may reduce the number of traces The LowPass module can t do a meaningful selection of samples or traces. Modules using sampling frequency Several modules using sampling frequency (Spectrum, Spectral, Harmonics, Resample, SyncResample) did not produce the correct result or threw exceptions when used in chain during acquisition. This is fixed. Anywhere in the chain All modules can now be used anywhere in the chain, rather than only at top level. Statistics modules Average, Standard Deviation and Distribution now work correctly even in a chain with an acquisition module. 10

12 Improved Spectral Intensity window remains open and functional when starting new module usability! XY Spectral Intensity and XY Average Plot These windows are now available for further analysis whilst performing another function: Plot window remains open when starting a new module Easily compare two plots Speed up of First Order Analysis It is 5 times faster to perform First Order Analysis on small traces. On long traces the speed up is minimal. Result traces on abort When aborting a First Order Analysis run, result traces are now made available. Start a 2 nd plot to compare hot spots between two windows with different settings or data 12

14 Camera settings laser station Flipping the camera image The orientation of the camera image could be unclear and inconsistent across different PCs. This applies to North / South and East / West orientation. The orientation can now be changed by the user, and the actual status is reflected. User interface consistency The camera settings under Tools menu are upgraded to those available under Perturbation. Key combination to flip image 14

19 Inspector installation & SDK updates Where Customers with Support Contract receive download link Download from Riscure download portal Installation guidance Inspector software can be installed on the same PC workstation next to your previous version. You can still revert back to the previous version if you want to. API is backwards compatible. Your own modules & traces Inspector software points by default to the same user module folder as previous versions. Changes are made to the Module Interface to improve chaining. Therefore your own modules that extend the Module class starting from Inspector 4.7 and onwards are compatible with this Inspector release. VC Glitcher - SDK 2.7 Bug fix: VC Glitcher no longer generates an extra glitch at 4MHz clock frequency. Bug fix: VC Glitcher no longer resets the offset setting for power monitor signal after receiving the power down trigger. Avoids issues with icwaves pattern matching on power monitor signal. Spider - SDK 1.4 Bug fix: resolved a rounding issue sometimes leading to inaccurate glitch timings. Improved analog performance when connected to bus line with pull-up resistor.
