1 Release Letter H.264 Firmware fr CPP-ENC Encders: Prducts: VJT X20/X40 XF-E VJT XTC XF VIDEOJET decder 3000 VIDEOJET cnnect 7000 Versin: This letter cntains latest infrmatin abut the abve mentined firmware versin. 1 General CPP-ENC H.264 firmware versin is a maintenance release based n the frmer release fr VJT X20/X40 XF-E encders, VJT XTC XF transcder, VIDEOJET decder 3000 and VIDEOJET cnnect 7000 but is nt applicable t ther VIPX r VJTX platfrm prducts. Changes since last release are marked in blue. Nte: This firmware is nt applicable t VIP X1600 XFM4 mdules which remain at FW 5.54 as their final release. Nte: This FW 5.97 is the final release fr CPP-ENC encders, transcders and decders. N mre releases are intended t be made fr these devices. 1

3 5 Restrictins; Knwn Issues User Interface If UAC is set t default in Windws 7, n snapsht r recrding via LIVE page is pssible. If the memry prtectin inside the Internet Explrer is enabled (default setting), the autmatic installatin f Autlad Decder will fail withut prducing an errr message. Cnsequently, the replay page will nt shw vide. As a wrk-arund, tw ptins are available: Disable memry prtectin in Internet Explrer and re-cnnect t the device. Manually dwnlad the Autlad Decder installer frm the device. The installer can be dwnladed via and started manually. Installatin f Autlad Decder fails if mre than ne NIC is installed in a PC. Replay using Autlad Decder may be jerky when a device is clse t r in an verlad situatin. In Firefx, n audi is audible n the Audi Settings page. Opera mini fr mbile devices cannt wrk in Intranets because it gets all pages thrugh an pera prxy in the Internet. If there is n Internet cnnectin n cntent is prvided. When changing GUI language, the brwser cache may have t be deleted and the web brwser be reladed befre the language will be selected crrectly. IE10 by default des nt allw snapshts r recrding frm the LIVEPAGE n lcal hard disk until ne f the fllwing actins is perfrmed: - uncheck the bx "Enable Prtected Mde" in internet ptins/security - add the device s IP range t "Lcal intranet" zne - add the device s IP address t the trusted sites - start IE as administratr If an intranet site is pened, IE10 autmatically runs in cmpatibility mde. This leads t a misbehaviur that n timeline is shwn n the PLAYBACK page. Therefre the functin "Display intranet sites in Cmpatibility View" must be disabled. Since JVM a Certificate Revcatin Check has been implemented. In netwrks withut access t the Internet (resulting in n access t the revcatin services prvided by Certificate Authrities) Web brwser pages that cntain a Java applet will see a significant delay in start-up times. T avid such delay, yu may chse t disable n line revcatin checking thrugh the Java Cntrl Panel (JCP). Nte that disabling n line revcatin checking shuld nly be cnsidered in managed envirnments as it decreases security prtectins. With HTTPS cnnectin in MS IE and VideSDK 5.71 installed, swapping between stream 1 and 2 may cause the watermarking icn fr stream 2 disappear. This may happen nly fr TCP vide streams with infinite I-frame distance and B-frames n. A fix will be delivered with VideSDK 5.71 MR1. 3

4 Vide and audi may be asynchrnus during replay via Web page. In rare cases it may happen that n recrdings can be fund n PC with Windws XP SP2 and IE6. Internet Explrer may stay in status cnnecting n replay page. An update f Internet Explrer is recmmended. With quad-view n LIVE page f VJT-X20/X40XF-E using encryptin, smetimes nt all 4 vide streams might displayed. Mixing graphical and nrmal characters in name stamping is nt supprted. If mixed characters are entered the line will nt be displayed. Encding Mixture between vide standards, e.g. PAL encder cnnected t NTSC decder, is nt supprted. In QCIF reslutin, stamping is nt available. Encding bit rate fr Baseline Prfile plus (BP+) is limited t maximum 2.5 Mbps, regardless f any ther setting in the encder prfile. With GOP structure set t IBP and IBBP the I-frame distance may nt exactly crrespnd with the set value. Netwrk QS values are set accrding t grup Vide/Audi/Cntrl fr UDP packets, but fr TCP packets nly the QS value fr Vide is inserted. VCA VJT-X20XF-E and VJT-X40XF-E nly prvide MOTION+ withut tamper detectin. Recrding LUN size fr lcal recrding via Direct iscsi is limited t 2 TB. VRM versins earlier than 2.0 will nt be able t replay recrdings frm blcks that are recrded with FW 5.5x r higher. If a lcal media is exchanged, existing frmer recrdings are nly discvered after rebting the device. In sme cases frmatting errrs n external iscsi drives may ccur, which might need multiple tries t vercme. In rare cases it may happen that the wner f an iscsi LUN is nt displayed crrectly. Recrding is nt affected, just previus wner remains displayed. If a device had primary and secndary recrding running n CF card and is then added t a VRM system, the blcks used fr primary recrding will nt be re-used, reducing the available recrding space fr the ANR recrding. This can be slved by re-frmatting the CF card. Numbering f the recrded files n the replay page is nt always cntiguus. If snippets acrss blck brders belng tgether, like pre-alarm and alarm recrding, the snippets becme lgically united and nly the lwer file number is presented in the list. 4

5 Dual recrding f all fur channels f a VJT-X40XF-E, which is als a standard case with ANR enabled, may exceed CF card perfrmance and lead t recrding gaps. Errr messages are then shwn in the lgs n the LIVE page. It must be ensured that the CPU n average is kept belw 100% lad t ensure functinality. If necessary it is advised t reduce the recrded bit rate. With I-frame-nly recrding and audi als enabled fr recrding, audi will be fragmented r nt audible during replay. Please disable audi recrding in case f I-frame-nly recrding. Changing audi frmat while audi is being recrded may cause unknwn behaviur f the device and must be avided. In Recrding->Strage Management, the upper Set buttn nly sets the iscsi passwrd. T stre the ANR checkbx setting the lwer Set buttn must be used. Exprt With JPEG Psting active when device is bting, the first psted JPEG image may be a ncam lg. FTP exprted files which include audi in a frmat ther than AAC must be renamed frm.mp4 t.m4a t allw crrect playback in QuickTime. If FTP exprt files cntain nly a few frames sme players might nt crrectly replay such a file, r the replay is t quick t recgnize smething. The exprted file is nt crrupt thugh it might seem s. Files exprted using cntinuus FTP backup fr Rec. 2 where stream 2 is set t I-frames nly mde cntain wrng timing infrmatin and play back t fast. FTP exprt file size is always 100 MB if reslutin change ccurred in exprted time span. Getting the file list frm Drpbx may fail if there are t many bjects (files and flders). Limit is apprximately higher than 500 bjects but als dependent n file name length etc. After mdifying accunt settings, e.g. FTP server address, t get the changes applied either switching psting ff and n r restarting the device is required. Under rare cnditins when using cndensed exprt the device may shw undesired behaviur. It is recmmended t nt use this functin. 5

6 Transcder Using prfile Original fr replay via transcder in Web brwser may cause jerky vide due t bandwidth limitatin, just like with nrmal HD replay. Cameras t be used with transcder VJT-XTCXF need minimum FW 5.52 and must recrd n the transcder s CF card fr the transcder being able t replay frm camera recrdings. Cameras t be used with transcder VJT-XTCXF and recrding nt wn lcal strage medium need minimum FW 5.60 fr the transcder being able t replay frm camera recrdings. The functin Cnfigure Ruter n the transcder setup page requires UPnP enabled n the ruter. The resulting settings might nt be persistent in the ruter during a pwer cycle. It is recmmended t manually cnfigure prt frwarding in the ruter. Decder Mnitrs nt supprting the selected display standard may functin nly in VGA fallback mde, accrding t HDMI specificatin. HD vide is nly accepted in first decder instance, either in single view r in upper left quadrant f quad view. In quad-mde, n HD vide is accepted. A t large image prvides feedback in the respective vide windw. Maximum reslutin f acceptable vide streams is Full HD (1920 x 1080). Higher reslutins, like frm a 5 MP camera, will nt be accepted and feedback prvided. A t large image prvides feedback in the respective vide windw. When in quad-mde, cnnecting anther device via the cnnectins page may cause jerking f the existing vide streams fr the first 1-2 secnds. When substituting a cnnectin with audi by anther camera with audi it may happen that audi is played ut t fast until the time stamps are synchrnized. Audi may nt always be fully synchrnized t vide. PTZ via IntuiKey des nt wrk when stream 2 n a camera is set t regin f interest (ROI). N feedback is returned when attempting t cnnect t a camera with wrng passwrd. If a cnnectin using n B frames is fllwing a cnnectin using B frames, r if an active cnnectin gets the encding prfile changed t nt use B frames the decded vide will shw a shrt flicker with the next I frame as the decding chain must be restarted internally. When using autmatic I-frame insertin in unstable r dynamic netwrk envirnment (like WLAN) it may happen that an I-frame request frm the decder is lst and vide freezes. This can be avided by setting an I-frame distance ther than 0. VIDEOJET decders 7000 and 8000 will nt be listed in device scan f IP Matrix, thus must be added manually. 6

7 Miscellaneus The device date/time will be set t default (Year 2000) after pwer lss exceeding the buffer perid. It is imprtant t ensure that the date/time is crrect fr recrding. An incrrect date/time setting culd prevent frm crrect recrding. After firmware uplad while daylight saving time checkbx is activated the time zne must be adjusted. After rebt, the system time re-synchrnisatin may be delayed up t 9 secnds fr SNTP respectively up t 14 secnds fr time server prtcl. A printut was added t telnet when sending an failed. A mre detailed printut was added fr the three errr cases 'culd nt cnnect t server', 'authenticatin failed' and 'recipient nt accepted'. AAC audi timestamps fr UDP live vide streams as well as fr recrding streams are based n 90 khz instead f 16 khz t ensure cmpatibility with VideSDK. AAC audi timestamps fr TCP live vide streams are based n the standard 16 khz timestamps. Standard players shuld cnnect t live vide with AAC audi using TCP. Firmware uplad stps recrding when it fails r is terminated. After dwngrade cnfiguratin integrity cannt be ensured and settings need t be checked r re-cnfigured. ONVIF cnfrmance is nt yet prvided fr VJT-XTCXF and VJD-3000 with this firmware release. If it shall be checked if the image is nt frzen, use millisecnds timestamp t verify. Special (umlaut) characters are nt supprted in encder prfile names. Characters that are used in URLs, shuld nt be used in names and passwrd fields if cnfiguratin using Cnfiguratin Manager r ther URL-based cnfiguratin clients is cnsidered. Imprtant nte regarding CF Card cmpatibility CF cards must supprt True IDE Mde t be usable in encders and transcder. 7

8 6 Previus Revisins 6.1 Changes with FW Supprt fr DSA E2800 has been added. Multipathing is nt supprted. 6.2 Changes with FW Passwrd unlck functin has been remved due t increased vulnerability. Devices that cannt be prtected via ther measures against access t the passwrd unlck functin, e.g. when directly cnnected t the Internet r t a nn-exclusive crprate r ffice netwrk, are highly recmmended t be upgraded t this versin t remve the vulnerability. Telnet access has been remved fr security reasns. A security leak, which allwed t extract critical data frm the device, has been fixed. 6.3 Changes Replay nt wrking in BVC and BVMS clients fr negative time znes has been fixed. An issue with cameras frm multiple VIDEOJET decder 4000, in multi-cast cnfiguratin using identical prts, flickering n VIDEOJET decder 3000 has been fixed. An issue with iscsi passwrd with 128kB sequence size has been fixed. A rare issue with camera inputs interchanged n encders has been fixed. 6.4 Changes RTSP stream frm VJT X40 XF-E nw includes fmtp attribute. An issue with VIDEOJET decder 3000 nt clearing RTSP cnnectin has been fixed. An issue with VIDEOJET decder 3000 where RTSP JPEG streams frm 3 rd party cameras culd nt be established has been fixed. An issue with iscsi CHAP authenticatin has been fixed. Missing PTZ cntrl fr camera 32 in IP Matrix n VIDEOJET decder 3000 has been fixed. An issue with MP4 exprt f interlaced vide has been fixed. 8

9 6.5 Changes with FW VIDEOJET decder 3000 nw lists JPEG decder in its capabilities. An issue with the device starting up with DHCP/APIPA mde after setting t factry default has been fixed. Switch cnfiguratin page has been added t VIDEOJET cnnect 7000, and flw cntrl enabled. Temperature-dependent fan cntrl and temperature warning levels have been added fr VIDEOJET cnnect New Features with FW Encders Autmated Netwrk Replenishment (ANR) 2.0 can nw be cnfigured thrugh the Web interface with a single click. In ANR mde, CF card fill level is shwn n recrding status page. Decder Varius 3 rd party (ONVIF) cameras that supprt RTSP and CGI interface can directly be cnnected. URL can be entered via decder s cnnectin page r used in ATSL scripting. Transcder The transcder setup cntaining addresses f remte devices is prvided in the reply t a netwrk scan. VIDEOJET cnnect 7000 A cnnected MIC-7000 is autmatically detected and the transcder setup cnfigured accrdingly. Audi input signal is autmatically frwarded t a cnnected MIC-7000 as the MIC s audi. VIDEOJET cnnect 7000 autmatically acts as time server fr a cnnected MIC-7000 t keep bth devices synchrnised. 6.7 Changes with FW An issue with wrng RTSP sequence numbers has been fixed. 9

10 6.8 New Features with FW Encders Fixed vide standard and VCR mde can nw be selected fr vide inputs. Autmated Netwrk Replenishment (ANR) 2.0 is pssible with CF card as recrding buffer. Decder Single/quad switching n VJD-3000 has been made faster. Vide smthing is nw pssible in VJD-3000, intrducing a delay line t cmpensate jerkiness f vide surces. Transcder The inf stamping f the transcded stream can be enabled in Web interface and via RCP cmmand. Decder and Transcder Any stream selectin has been added t let the decder r transcder autmatically detect the ptimal reslutin stream. This allws cnnectin t cameras with higher reslutin if they prvide anther stream nt exceeding HD 1080p, r SD in case f quad view. Fr the decder this als allws t cnnect t legacy MPEG-4 devices via M-JPEG stream if prvided. New 4K and 12MP cameras are supprted in scan list t allw cnnectin t their lwer reslutin streams. Display infrmatin f t large reslutin stream by special image in vide windw n decder mnitr and in Web interface. 10

11 Recrding A new Autmated Netwrk Replenishment methd, ANR 2.0, has been implemented t avid recrding gaps. It prvides a rbust recrding even n spradic iscsi cnnectin lss r netwrk utages. T achieve this it utilizes the devices dual and lcal recrding capability. The secndary recrding, which is cntinuusly written nt the lcal strage medium, functins as interim buffer fr the primary recrding that transfers this t the external iscsi strage as lng and whenever the cnnectin is established. The time perid t cver cnnectin interruptin depends n the size f the lcal strage medium and the data rate f the recrded stream. Infrmatin n internal fill level f the recrding buffer is prvided. The speed f the transfer frm the secndary recrding buffer t the primary recrding n the iscsi strage in the netwrk can be dynamically cntrlled via playback speed and rate cntrl. Please nte: Setup f this feature is nt pssible via the devices brwser-based user interface. It can be set up via RCP cmmands. Bsch VMS 5.0 will allw enabling ANR 2.0 via its Cnfiguratin Client. Enhanced recrding mdes allw alarm recrding with alarm-type specific, lng pre-alarm times. Such can be triggered via virtual alarms with pre-alarm time and alarm duratin specified. This functin requires ANR 2.0 t be enabled. Textual infrmatin prvided with the virtual alarm cmmand is stred as metadata. This culd be e.g. POS r ATM inf. Bsch VMS 5.0 will use this feature in its multiple pre-alarm duratin settings. Card media that reached maximum write cycles and wuld cause access errrs are munted as read-nly t ensure accessibility f stred recrdings. This state is valid until the next media exchange, then re-checked. Strage cnfiguratin f tw iscsi LUNs is pssible n a device fr lcal recrding. Alarm recrdings can be autmatically prtected. 11

12 Netwrk The prducts supprt enhanced encryptin capabilities t prvide cmpatibility t mdern brwsers. N separate AES Encryptin license is required. Using HTTPS (SSL) autmatically encrypts all paylad channels (vide, audi, metadata, etc.) related t the initiated cmmunicatin. A new media data watermarking/signing methd based n certificates has been implemented. The vide stream includes signatures frm the device s certificate. By checking the signature against the certificate it received frm the device, pssibly even by a certificatin authrity (CA), a client can prve if the received vide stream r playback is really frm the riginal surce. RTSP Vide authenticatin can be selected frm Off, Classic, MD5, SHA-1 r SHA-256. The signature perid can be cnfigured t balance the required cmputatinal pwer with ther functins required frm the device t perfrm. This new watermarking methd requires VSDK 5.71 r later t be functinal in the Web brwser. Search and playback frm lcal recrdings is pssible using RTSP cnnectins. A tech nte describing the feature and the parameters is available. The multicast settings n the device are synchrnized with a RTSP multicast request. If a multicast grup is cnfigured n the device and the RTSP request des nt specify a multicast grup, the cnfigured sessin is used. If n multicast grup is cnfigured n the device and the RTSP request des nt specify a multicast grup, a randm multicast grup is used. If the RTSP request des specify a multicast grup, this multicast grup is used. CGI parameters were extended t allw playback frm secndary recrding, e.g. rtsp://<ipaddress>/rtsp_tunnel?rec=1&inst=2 12

13 Miscellaneus Camera name fields nw directly supprt Unicde character input, mapping t the available characters in the graphic character table. The selectin frm the graphic character table is nt necessary anymre but still functinal fr backward cmpatibility. The status f the lcal strage medium is prvided in the SNMP MIB. Date and time infrmatin has been added t the beginning f each line in the maintenance lg file. After a netwrk link is re-established EAPOL cmmunicatin is initiated t restart 802.1x authenticatin even if the switch des nt initiate this. 14 6.9 Changes with FW LIVEPAGE has been renamed t LIVE. Menu Advanced Mde->Netwrk and Advanced Mde->Service->System Overview page were re-structured t imprve usability. Duble-click fr full-screen has been disabled fr in-vide-ptz as it was ften accidentally activated by fast PTZ muse-clicks. Maximum I-frame distance in encder prfiles is nw als based n cnfigurable MAX_GOP_LENGTH_VALUE. Pre-alarm RAM buffer settings changed by a management system are nw als shwn in the drp-dwn list n the Recrding Prfiles page. An issue where a device culd becme inaccessible after lng run-time if cnfigured servers culd nt be reached has been fixed. An issue with IE 11 shwing a message that a device may nt be respnding due t a lngrunning script when frensic search returns many events (mre than 1000) has been fixed. An issue where lder recrdings were nt instantly listed n pening the Playback page has been fixed. The decder lg fr uplad must be a nn-prgressive JPEG image that bears as little header infrmatin as pssible. Reslutin must stay within 800 hrizntal and 720 vertical pixels and shuld cnsider the mainly used aspect rati. Image size shall nt exceed 200 kb. An invalid frmat f the decder lg will cause decding t fail until the lg is deleted again. ONVIF The issue where system date and time culd nt be changed via ONVIF has been slved. ONVIF cmmand GetVideEncderCnfiguratins nw returns the crrect multicast IP address. The previus ONVIF implementatin may have interfered with existing cnfiguratins made via RCP. T allw cexisting f these cnfiguratin pssibilities a few adaptatins and imprvements were implemented. ONVIF vide prfiles were reduced t 3 per stream. Each stream has an 'ONVIF mde' flag. This flag will implicitly be set when a prfile cnfiguratin is dne via ONVIF. When that flag is set the stream always uses the ONVIF parameters. The ONVIF status is displayed n the respective prfile cnfiguratin pages. The flag can be unchecked and the ONVIF cnfiguratin verwritten. ONVIF multicast cnfiguratin will als be saved in the ONVIF encder prfile. Each stream can be cnnected via ONVIF (RTSP) even when n ONVIF cnfiguratin was made. In that case, the active encder prfile is used. It is internally ensured that ONVIF cnfiguratins always are 'recrding cmpatible' by using the default maximum I-frame distance. 14

15 6.10 Changes with FW Encders On recent prductin lts, there might be spradic issues with the vide input during start-up, resulting in a pink hue n the vide. This firmware fixes this New Features with FW All Web GUI languages are nw included in a single firmware file. Encders Analgue Bsch PTZ cameras that use BICOM prtcl and are cnnected t a VJT-X20/X40XF-E via RS-485 can be cntrlled via the Vide Security ipad app. Decder (since prductin release ) The fllwing mnitr display standards are selectable. If nt supprted by the mnitr a fallback t VGA will ccur. PAL NTSC 1080p p i i60 720p50 720p60 The mnitr display standard can be frced even if a mnitr des nt signal cmpatibility in its EDID infrmatin. Smetimes mnitrs d supprt mre mdes than they signal. A crp mde has been added which allws filling the vide windw with a crpped image t avid black bars. A Freeze cnditin, which means lsing the vide cnnectin t the sender, creates an event that is usable in Alarm Task Scripting and fr alarm generatin. 15

16 6.12 Changes with FW Transcder The restrictin t use nly the service passwrd in the transcder setup has been remved. Decder Issues fixed (since prductin release ) Vide streams in 4CIF frm interlaced surces cntaining B frames may cause the displayed vide t freeze. If a camera with different reslutin and/r aspect rati than the previus stream is cnnected, fr a shrt mment it may happen that the vide is wrng-sized, r ghst pictures be shwn. In quad-mde, when the decder is at its cmputatinal limits, smetimes a clicking nise is induced t the audi signal Changes with FW Audi back-channel is nw supprted via SSL cnnectins. Passwrd level fr transcder live cnnectins has been crrected. Transcder nw accepts cnnectins frm all input lines f multi-channel devices when cntrlled via management system. Platfrm infrmatin is nw included in device capabilities. Autmatic backup is nw being crrectly terminated when changing between backup f cntinuus recrding r f alarm files. 16

18 6.17 New Features with FW Fr VIP-X1600-XFM4, prgressive vide is pssible due t de-interlacing vide befre encding. This results in better vide quality at cmparable interlaced vide bit rate. A selectin field has been added t the Installer Menu, default is ff. The license is nt required anymre but remains functinal where installed New Features with FW VIP-X1600-XFM4: prgressive vide ptin with built-in de-interlacing.
